"Education": what happened in the Horizon School in Jerusalem coincides with the family of education

Today, Tuesday, the Ministry of Education expressed its rejection of what happened in Al-Ufoq Elementary School in Jerusalem, stressing that the students' event, performed with Hebrew songs, goes along with the occupation's policies aimed at the familyization of education, ironing the collective national consciousness, and striking the foundations of the Palestinian Jerusalemite identity.

The Ministry confirmed, in a statement, that this school affiliated with the occupation municipality, and with these activities, is trying to beautify the ugly face of the occupation and legitimize its attempts to target the Palestinian curriculum and the sovereignty of education in Jerusalem.

She called on parents to take a stand on this event and miss the opportunity for the occupier to tamper with the basics of comprehensive upbringing for students, distort their awareness, national identity and memory, and alienate them from the priorities and concerns of their Palestinian society represented by an independent and fully sovereign Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Prisoner Tariq Barghout reveals the details of isolation in "Nafha Prison"

"It is good that I was punished with the policy of solitary confinement, so that I could witness and live seriously in isolation, and the difficult conditions and psychological and physical pressure the prisoners suffer from inside them. The isolation officer does not base his work on any legal procedure, but rather invents a law of his own and uses all methods of physical and psychological pressure. And insults to force the prisoners out of isolation, or to punish the isolated in his innovative racist way.

With these words, prisoner Tareq Barghout (43 years) from Jerusalem described a small part of the picture of the situation in the isolation of "Nafha Prison".

Barghout, who has been in the current isolation for more than a month and a half, revealed, through the commission's lawyer, Youssef Mattia, many undisclosed details regarding the policy of solitary confinement - silent torture - pursued by the occupation prison administration against prisoners in prison.

He said: "The methods used in isolation are riotous methods and disregard for all laws, as the prison officer does not abide by the laws at all, and solitary confinement is extended with the punishment of (the bedouin) until the end of its period and without a legal right, while ordinary isolation is treated like isolation punitive."

Barghout added, "The isolated prisoners are subjected to brutal beatings, shackling in bed, insults and insults, and there is no accountability or supervision over them, especially as they are deprived of their cantina money, and this is against the law."

And he continued: "The pillow is also removed from the prisoner, and sometimes the mattress is withdrawn, which causes pain and health problems, and causes psychological and physical pressure on the prisoner to end his isolation illegally."

He continued, "During the period of isolation (the Bedouin), the prisoner is not allowed to smoke at all, although there is a certain limit allowed for smoking according to the regulations of the Prison Service, not to mention that the quality of food is very poor and unhealthy at all, and this is deliberate and intentional."

Barghout emphasized that the Prisons Authority extends punitive isolation every month for 7 days, although punitive isolation takes place only once, after which the decision is outside the authority of the prison officer.

He said: "After the end of the week's period of punitive isolation, the prisoner remains in the same conditions of punitive isolation by depriving him of electrical appliances and his personal belongings and belongings, although he has the right to retrieve them in accordance with prison regulations."

Continuing the policy of medical negligence against prisoners

The policy of medical negligence constitutes the most prominent systematic abusive tool practiced by the occupation prison administration against the prisoners, which over the course of many decades has caused the death of dozens of them. .

In the context of this, the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs monitored, through the visit of its lawyer, Sherine Nasser, Fawaz Al-Shaludi, three sick cases detained in the occupation prisons, including the case of the prisoner Hussam Shaheen (48 years) from Jerusalem, who is in "Nafha Prison", and who suffers from swelling in the abdomen. And about the case of the prisoner Uday Ayyash from the town of Rafat, north of Salfit governorate, who is held in "Ayalon Prison", where he suffers from shortness of breath, dizziness and headaches, and suffers from fatty deposits that are spread throughout his body in the form of lumps, and the prison administration still refuses to follow up on his health condition. .

The annexation policy has no choice but to stand firm

Jerusalem Hadith

The occupying power continues to annex the West Bank to it in various ways, some of which are in full view of the entire world and others are undeclared, by confiscating more lands, establishing settlements and expanding existing ones, in addition to legalizing settlement outposts, and canceling the disengagement, according to which five outposts were evacuated in 2005. In the West Bank, in addition to what the settlers are doing to seize Palestinian lands, especially the lands adjacent to the settlements, for various purposes, either to expand the settlements or to exploit the confiscated lands for agriculture and grazing, and to establish fish and crocodile ponds and many, many others.

In this context, the night before last, and under cover of darkness, an institute or school for teaching the Torah was moved from the “Homesh” settlement to a nearby place, after the land was confiscated under the pretext that it was state land, in preparation for its legalization after the decision to disengage from it and from four other settlements was cancelled.

In addition to paving the way for the legalization of this outpost and work to expand it to accommodate more settlers, which the Netanyahu government announced that the number of settlers in the West Bank will be increased to more than one million settlers, which means not only the legalization of these outposts and others, but also their expansion at the expense of the Palestinian land, within the framework of Attempts by the occupying power to harass citizens to force them to leave abroad, either voluntarily or by force used by the occupation forces and herds of settlers, which have recently escalated and become an overt policy, as more than one Israeli official declared that the West Bank is Jewish land and that there is no place for Palestinians in this country.

It also means a creeping annexation of the West Bank to the occupying state through these measures and policies followed by successive Israeli governments, which appeared clearly through the current Netanyahu government. The international community is protecting our people and working to stop the violations and crimes committed by the occupation against people, trees and stones in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The occupying state sees itself as above international laws and norms and has the right to practice whatever crimes it likes, most of which have reached the level of war crimes, but the international community turns a blind eye to the occupying state and at best issues statements of condemnation and denunciation.

And as long as the United States of America, along with the colonial Western countries, stands at the head of the international community through the one pole, the occupying state will continue its crimes against the Palestinian person, his property, and his sanctities, because these states constitute protection for the occupying state from any international sanctions against it, and even provide it with all the elements of its existence on the ground. Palestinian.
The refusal of the United States and some Western countries to re-legitimize the "Homesh" settlement and other settlements is nothing but sowing dust in the eyes.

In the end, our people have no choice but to withstand these attacks, which ultimately target attempts to end the conflict in favor of the occupying power. There is no choice but to persevere, because it is the only way to thwart all the plans of the occupation.

On the anniversary of its founding.. Is it possible to rebuild the PLO, and how?

Jamal Zaqout

Jamal Zaqout

Opinion Writer

Since its founding by a decision of the Arab League, the PLO has gone through basic stages. After the June defeat, the armed factions were able to transform the PLO into a broad frontal coalition that embodies national unity and is based on pluralism within the framework of adopting the strategy of armed struggle. The battle of dignity was a turning point for the organization to become a main address for confronting the Israeli aggression and occupation, and by approving the interim program, the organization opened the door to the decision of the Rabat Summit to recognize it as the sole legitimate representative and its membership in regional and international organizations such as the Non-Aligned Countries and the African Summit, and then in the United Nations and other international organizations.

However, the most prominent of these achievements was the formation of the National Front in the occupied land from some factions of the organization and national personalities, on August 15, 1973. It adopted a realistic program based on international legitimacy resolutions to resolve the Palestinian and Arab-Israeli conflict. Palestinian women in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, i.e. in the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967, and the right of return for Palestinian refugees in accordance with Resolution 194, and running in the municipal elections in 1976 with personalities loyal to the organization to establish its public presence, but the occupation authorities removed its most prominent symbols, and exposed Others for assassination attempts.

Despite the attempts of a number of Arab regimes to regain control over the organization, and to support what was known as the Rejection Front and later the Salvation Front, leader Arafat's keenness to contain all its factions under the organization's banner formed a basic pillar for preserving the unity of the organization and national unity in general. With the growing role of the organization and its success in addressing and resolving the political differences between its main forces through the national dialogue that preceded the convening of the sessions of the National Council of the organization, this role has grown inside the occupied territory. Despite the 1982 war against the organization and the armed presence of the Palestinian revolutionary forces in Lebanon, and their forced out into the diaspora of remote capitals and deserts of the Arabs, the forces of the organization, which were rooted in organizational, mass and trade union networks, led the major uprising that broke out in December 1987, which was characterized by its deep popular and democratic character. It rebuilt the militant and popular incubator of the PLO, where the leadership of the unified uprising was formed from the main factions of the organization "Fatah, Democracy, the People's Party, and the Communist Party," so that the PLO returned again as a major player despite the stormy regional and international transformations in the early nineties.

Lessons learned

The lessons that can be drawn hastily from this track are that the PLO was able to preserve the national identity and became an expression of the political entity of the Palestinian people and its only legitimate representative, by firstly its unity and permanent insistence on confirming and embodying the unity of the Palestinian people in all places of its presence, and secondly its success in formulating a program The common denominator is the program of return, self-determination, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, and the main contradiction with the occupation prevails over internal differences by consolidating political pluralism within the framework of its broad coalition as a national front, and adopting a national democratic dialogue in addressing its internal differences, and thirdly, and most importantly, its constant keenness to strengthen its popular support and base Social.

In the face of these achievements, the successive Israeli occupation governments sought to undermine and dismantle the status of the organization, as it reflects not only the unity of representation, but also the guarantee of the interdependence of the national rights of our people. It fanned the fire of internal differences, especially between the national and Islamic currents.

The failure of Oslo and the decline of the organization's status

The stage of the Oslo process and its outcomes seriously affected the status of the PLO, as it abandoned political pluralism, and drifted towards excluding the opposition from within and outside the organization from the national decision-making process, in addition to its failure to crystallize a political vision that controls the nature of the emerging stage and its entitlements to link between The tasks of national liberation that have not yet been completed, and the requirements of the democratic construction of the institutions of the emerging authority, and the role of the authority has been exaggerated at the expense of the status and role of the organization as a title for national liberation and national unity for our people in its various groups inside the homeland and in the diaspora. This has led, in recent years, not only to the marginalization of the organization and its reduction to the president, who, especially after the division, the dissolution of the Legislative Council and the refusal to organize general elections, acquires all powers without exception, and the Executive Committee has turned into a mere non-advisory body, where even its opinion is not taken into account and not only not. abide by its decisions.

The current reality of the organization is the product of adventure, without controls or alternative paths, with the organization’s balance and its achievements, in the path of settlement without any review, despite the catastrophic failure that befell it, and the dominant leadership is still insisting on continuing this path of failure without a bottom, just as this cannot be isolated The reality is about the state of division that has turned the political dispute into a destructive struggle for power and representation, and is now threatening the foundations of the geographic, political and representative national entity after the organization for many years constituted the most important expression of this entity. This is in addition to the abandonment by the parties of the national movement within the framework of the organization of its militant role against the occupation, and the acquisition of this role by Hamas as a means to control representation, which is revealed by Hamas' positions regarding the last three wars waged by the successive occupation governments against the Islamic Jihad movement in the Gaza Strip.

Despite all of this, the PLO still constitutes in the public consciousness the memory of national revival, armed struggle and successive uprisings in the face of the catastrophe of displacement and attempts to obliterate identity and liquidate rights, and that any serious search to address the internal crisis that afflicts the national cause cannot have chances of success without addressing it. The reality, role and position of the PLO, and that its reconstruction, despite the divergence of historical circumstances between its inception and what it is exposed to today in terms of emptying its content and coalition character, is still possible, provided that this process is controlled by the priorities of defeating the occupation on the basis of an integrated strategy of steadfastness and popular resistance. The Palestinian experience confirms that resorting to dialogue and democracy has always been a guarantee through which it is possible to move forward in rebuilding the National Coalition on the basis of adherence to national rights, and breaking with the concessions that Israel made for free through the Oslo process, which for the occupation was nothing more than a deferral to abort the Great Intifada and its consequences. And go back again to attack all of our national rights and our destiny in this country.

Introduction to rebuilding the organization

The real entrance to restoring the unity and role of the PLO requires, above all, the overthrow of the culture of division, exclusion, domination and possession, and a return to the option of unity and democracy, and the required transitional stage to repair the defect that the national movement suffers from. It seems that there is a compulsory transitional path to achieve this by forcing the division forces to agree on a transitional government of qualified people delegated in accordance with the Basic Law to ensure that everything is done that would stabilize the steadfastness of the people and return to the democratic path by preparing for holding general elections according to a sufficient and agreed timetable, to restore political life away from Hegemony, political persecution, and the abolition of all laws by decree that contradict freedom of expression and organization, and in parallel with that commitment to what was previously agreed upon in the preparatory meetings in Beirut "January 2017" in terms of the participation of the Hamas and Jihad movements in national decision-making, whose liberation from exclusivity and division has become a top priority. It cannot be skipped, as a prelude to a new national council that renews the election of a leadership that includes the various colors of the political and social spectrum in the various gatherings of the Palestinian people, including our people inside the Green Line.

Thus, it is possible to restore consideration for the PLO and its role and status, including reviewing its national program according to the nature of the conflict and the appropriate forms of struggle for this stage.

This path, which has no alternative, can only be paved by mobilizing and organizing the role of all social groups that are ready to engage in a broad popular coalition against occupation, division and corruption in all its forms, and in order to renew the structure of the national movement and ensure its restoration of a path that places national liberation as a high priority interconnected with the democratic path that restores The entire issue of the Palestinian people is the impenetrable fortress of this sacred cause.

Special economic zones in Saudi Arabia attract investments exceeding $12.6 billion

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced today (Monday) the success of the Special Economic Zones in attracting investments exceeding $12.6 billion across various vital sectors.

The Crown Prince, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Council for Economic and Development Affairs, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, announced last month the formation of these regions.

The Special Economic Cities and Zones Authority revealed in a press release that the investments included marine, mining, industrial, logistical services and modern technologies.

She added that the total volume of additional investments being implemented amounted to more than $31 billion.

The announcement came on the sidelines of the Investment Forum in the Special Economic Zones in Saudi Arabia, which was organized by the Authority in partnership with the Saudi program to attract regional headquarters of international companies.

The forum witnessed the granting of four licenses for the special economic zone in King Abdullah Economic City, the special economic zone in Ras al-Khair, the special economic zone in Jazan, and the special economic zone for cloud and information computing. Initial investments were also revealed.

The Secretary General of the Special Economic Cities and Zones Authority, Nabil Khoja, indicated that the new special economic zones were able, in a record time, to attract investments worth billions of riyals, expecting more investments to flow during the coming period.

Last April, the Saudi Crown Prince announced the launch of four special economic zones, which enjoy legislative systems and special regulations for economic activities that would make these zones more competitive to attract the most important qualitative investments, and provide tremendous opportunities for developing the local economy, creating jobs, transferring technology and localizing industries.

It is noteworthy that these zones represent the first stage of a long-term program aimed at attracting international companies, encouraging foreign direct investment, and promoting the growth of future qualitative sectors.

The incentives offered to companies include competitive tax rates, exemptions for imports, production inputs, machinery and raw materials from customs duties, allowing 100% foreign ownership and the ability to attract the best global human resources.

Lebanese Interior Minister: kidnapped Saudi freed

Lebanese Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi announced that a Saudi citizen had been kidnapped in Beirut, considering that the incident "affects" relations between Lebanon and Saudi Arabia.

"We have been following up with the Information Division of the Internal Security Forces since yesterday the issue of the kidnapping of a Saudi citizen in Beirut," said a tweet released by the minister, noting that the ministry is "in contact with the smallest details" with the Saudi ambassador to Lebanon Walid al-Bukhari, without giving further details about the day that took place. When the kidnapping took place or the circumstances behind it.

Mawlawi continued, "What happened affects Lebanon's relationship with its brothers, and the perpetrators will be punished harshly."

A senior security source told AFP that the preliminary information available indicated that the Saudi was kidnapped by unknown persons in the clothes of security personnel in a four-wheel drive car at the Beirut waterfront, where he was in a restaurant.

He pointed out that the kidnappers were camouflaged by using his phone, which was monitored in various areas in and around Beirut, without any information being available about their identity.

He explained that the kidnapping was carried out in a professional manner, in a method adopted for the first time since the civil war (1975-1990), in terms of the kidnapping of foreign nationals by impersonators of security men.

A statement posted by the Saudi embassy in Lebanon on Twitter stated that it had received "a communication from the family of a citizen who lost contact with him on Sunday."

The Saudi news channel indicated that the citizen who was kidnapped works for Saudi Airlines, and that the kidnappers demanded a financial ransom.

Although the incident is not the first, in recent years Lebanon has rarely witnessed kidnappings of Arab or foreign nationals.

The last similar incident dates back to July 2022, when a Saudi was kidnapped upon his arrival at Beirut airport.

In April 2022, the Saudi ambassador returned to Beirut, five and a half months after he was summoned to Riyadh, following an acute diplomatic crisis between Lebanon and the Gulf states, especially due to the growing influence of the pro-Iranian Hezbollah.

The wounded Chelsea appointed Pochettino to rise from his rut

A year after the arrival of its new American owners, Chelsea turned to Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino, in search of a quick revival from its slump.

Pochettino, 51, agreed to a two-year contract with an option to renew for an additional year, to return to the Premier League, four years after he was dismissed from the other London team, Tottenham.

"He is a winning coach who has worked at the highest levels, in a variety of tournaments and languages. His spirit, tactical approach and commitment to development make him an exceptional candidate," club directors Lawrence Stewart and Paul Winstanley said in a statement on the club's website on Monday.

While names such as German Julian Nagelsmann and Spaniard Luis Enrique were frequented in the corridors, Pochettino, an expert in English football, was chosen after coaching Tottenham for five and a half seasons, during which he led him to the Champions League final in 2019.

Chelsea lived a disastrous season, finishing twelfth in the league, 45 points behind champions Manchester City. He was also bid farewell to the quarter-finals of the European Champions League against Real Madrid (0-2 and 0-2).

American businessman Todd Boyle and the Clearlake Investment Fund invested more than 600 million euros (about 678 million dollars) in the transfer market last summer and early this year, but these investments, which mainly included young and promising players, did not bear fruit.

Boyle also decided to dismiss German Thomas Tuchel after only 7 matches, when the club was in sixth place, and appointed Graham Potter from Brighton, a coach who was also considered promising but without experience in a club of the stature of Chelsea. Potter was appointed on a long-term project, but was sacked in early April bringing in club legend Frank Lampard for the second time.

Pochettino will be Chelsea's sixth permanent manager in five years. He has not supervised any team since his departure from Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

With Tottenham, the London rivals of Chelsea, he achieved good results during his time with Spurs. Spurs finished in the top four four times out of five seasons with the Argentine, compared to just twice in the 24 seasons before his arrival.

Despite failing to end Spurs' title drought since 2008, Pochettino has always been admired by his players. Captain and top scorer Harry Kane recently bemoaned the change in the club's culture since the Argentine's departure.

Pochettino led Saint-Germain to win the league title in his second season, and with the Qatari-owned team he won his first title as a coach, but he left after failing to make an impact in the Champions League, while he found it difficult to control dressing rooms rich in star players with high pride.
A large workshop awaits him in terms of managing and forming the team, with faces such as French Malou Gusto or his compatriot Christopher Nkunku and Brazilian Andre Santos.

He also has several promising players who want to hear from a former international player, such as the French Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiachel, the Argentine Enso Fernandez, the Ukrainian Mikhailo Modric or Noni Madueki.

He succeeded with Tottenham in the task of developing young players, and played a major role in demonstrating Harry Kane's talent as one of the best strikers in the world, while the club later retreated with Portuguese coaches Jose Mourinho and Italian Antonio Conte.

The England captain said of him when he was supervising the North London team, "I can only praise him. He is a wonderful coach, a wonderful person."

He continued, "He gives you the desire to do well for him, to work hard for him, to win for him. He is very passionate. We notice sometimes that he wants to be on the field, kicking ground balls and running in all directions."

Pochettino built his reputation as a player with his beloved club, Espanyol, the Catalans, Barcelona's local rivals, but he enjoyed advantages in addition to his defensive harshness on the field.

"Pochettino had great charisma in the dressing room," says Paco Flores, who coached Espanyol during his successful campaign in the 2000 Spanish Cup when Pochettino was in his ranks.

He added, in an interview with the British newspaper "The Guardian" in 2013, "He never accepted losing, and he was highly respected, almost like the hierarchy when you go into military service."

And he added, "He was a leader, his personality was strong. There was also a strong partnership between the players and the fans, and he noticed how important that was."
Pochettino highlighted this passion when he supervised Tottenham, especially after beating Ajax Amsterdam to reach the Champions League final. He hugged his players crying and looked very moved.

Saudi Arabia is moving rapidly towards the post-oil future of the Gulf and the Arab world

After the 32nd Arab Summit, which was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Information organized for media delegations a tour of King Abdullah Economic City, which is considered one of the most modern and developed industrial zones in the Arab world, especially since it was built on the Red Sea in a way It is technically, technically and scientifically advanced, and its ports are provided with the latest modern technologies in the world.

During the duration of the trip, which took about an hour from Jeddah to King Abdullah Economic City, our escort, Raghad Al-Hazmi, spoke about the level of renaissance that the Kingdom witnessed under the auspices of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who has accumulated remarkable successes. And how Saudi Arabia made great and wide efforts and harnessed all its energies and capabilities for Arab reunification before the Arab summit in Jeddah, and was able through it to achieve the return of Syria to the Arab League and to emphasize the centrality of the Palestinian issue as the first Arab issue, and the importance of resolving it according to the Arab initiative for peace and the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Our guide during our tour in King Abdullah Economic City, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Shammari, said about the ambitious action plan "Vision 2030" that was developed and supervised by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as "a comprehensive economic, social, cultural, political plan for Saudi Arabia, which establishes the Kingdom's entry into an era." After oil," pointing out that the "vision" coincides with the date set for announcing the completion of eighty giant government projects, such as the construction of the city of Neom or Qiddiya, the Diriyah Gate, in addition to offering part of the giant Aramco company for public subscription.

He added: The goal is to increase non-oil revenues, push investment inside Saudi Arabia to create more job opportunities and jobs, and push the Saudi economy towards double growth, indicating that the Saudi vision is based on three pillars, namely:
The first: is that Saudi Arabia is the Arab and Islamic depth, as there is the Grand Mosque in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, and the Prophet’s Mosque in Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah, which are considered the most important holy places for Muslims, and thus it is the qiblah of more than 2 billion Muslims on the face of the earth, and the vision must be based on this factor; Because it has a spiritual effect.

The second: The Kingdom's huge investment capabilities, which should be an engine for the Kingdom's economy and an additional resource for it, and with these capabilities, the vision aims to make Saudi Arabia a leading investment power, and we see this clearly in the investments of the Saudi Sovereign Fund (Public Investment Fund).

Third: The strategic geographical location of Saudi Arabia, and the important water crossings surrounding it - the Strait of Hormuz in the east, the Bab al-Mandab Strait in the southwest, the Suez Canal in the northwest - make the Kingdom the most important gateway to the world as a linking center for the three continents. The concept of geopolitics or geopolitics is a term that applies primarily to the influence of geography on politics, but it has evolved to be used over the past century to include broader connotations. It traditionally refers to the causal links and relationships between political power and geographical space, in specific terms. Therefore, this concept has become one of the factors of strength and influence in international relations.

Professor Ali Al-Hafzi from the Saudi Ministry of Information drew attention to the future Saudi economic perceptions at the Gulf, Arab and international levels, in light of the policy of “zeroing” political differences, especially with Iran. He said that politics and economics are two sides of the same coin, and that strengthening the political situation requires advancing the economic situation, which is what is happening .

Amal Al-Rashed, who was the main spokeswoman for King Abdullah Economic City, indicated that the cost of the city amounted to 100 billion dollars. City planning and development.

She explained that the industrial city is a new Saudi city of an economic nature. Its establishment was announced by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, in 2005. It is located in Rabigh Governorate, in the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Region. It is part of the 10X10 program that aims to place the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia among the top ten in the world. The most attractive and competitive investment.
Al-Rashed drew attention to the strategic location of King Abdullah Economic City, noting that it is based on an area of 173 square kilometers, and is located along the Red Sea coast (about 100 km north of Jeddah), about an hour's drive from the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.

The city is divided into six main elements: the industrial area, the sea port, the residential areas, the sea resort, the educational city, and the central business district that includes the financial island.

She said that the first phase of the city was completed in 2010 AD, while the whole city will be completed by 2030 AD. According to the plan, the city will seek to diversify the oil-dependent economy by bringing direct foreign and domestic investments, and the city will help create up to one million job opportunities for Saudi youth.

Al-Rashed confirmed that the port is the largest port in the Middle East and among the largest ports in the world with an area of 2.5 million square meters.

She explained that it will be a link between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the world on the one hand, and a link between Asia, Africa and Europe on the other hand, as it represents an additional station on the Red Sea, at which goods shipped between the Mediterranean Sea and the Indian Ocean stop.

The port is characterized by being equipped with means of tracking ships via satellite and many modern means. The port will receive pilgrims annually, and it will be able to accommodate 300,000 pilgrims annually on their way to Makkah and Madinah.

According to an official in the industry and services sector in King Abdullah Economic City, the total industrial land in the city amounts to about 8 million square meters, most of which are concentrated on pharmaceutical and food factories.

Al-Rashed explained that the industrial complex and the industrial zone include the first phase of it with a built-up area of 6.24 million square meters, as it also contains laboratories for research and development.

She said that the completion rate in the city reached 30% in terms of infrastructure. According to the city administration, the city's own capital is not relied upon for its development, but there are efforts to attract investors to develop it.

There is a strategy to establish a tourist destination within the Economic City, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
She pointed out that the city includes 5 residential neighborhoods, and the figures estimate that the number of permanent residents in the city will be half a million people, in addition to visitors.

And she said that in the year 2019 AD, Al-Morouj neighborhood won the award for the best mixed-use residential neighborhood in the Arab region.

King Abdullah Economic City also includes a large group of residential units, such as villas, apartments and hotels, many green spaces, and a plan for two huge towers.

She added: “The city has become one of the most important tourist destinations in the Kingdom, due to the entertainment and sports activities it contains, as many international tournaments are held in various sports fields, such as golf and motor racing, as the city includes one of the most famous golf clubs in the Middle East, In addition to the large waterfront of the city, where various types of water sports can be practiced throughout the year.

Mr. Ali explained that the "Sir" company signed the first Saudi brand for the manufacture of electric cars in the Kingdom, and an agreement with Emaar, the Economic City Company, to purchase land worth 359 million riyals in King Abdullah Economic City to use it to establish an electric car manufacturing facility on an area of more than one million square meters. A square in the Industrial Valley, near King Abdullah Port. Once the construction works are completed, the factory will provide thousands of direct and indirect jobs, most of which will be allocated to local competencies.

He said: Sir Company - a joint venture between the Public Investment Fund and Foxconn - intends to manufacture a variety of sedans and SUVs with advanced technologies, provided that actual production begins in 2025 at Sir's facility in King Abdullah Economic City.

Al-Hafzi concluded with the statements of CEO of Sir James DeLuca, in which he said, “We found in King Abdullah Economic City a place that meets all our needs, as the city enjoys a strategic location and world-class logistical services, with effective access to our local and international suppliers, and the location is ideal for establishing and developing our cadres.” Therefore, the city will embrace our factory, where we are working to establish the first Saudi brand for the electric vehicle industry in the Kingdom and the region in general, thus contributing effectively to achieving the goals of Vision 2030.

UNIFIL: Stability is still fragile in the border area between Lebanon and Israel

The commander of the United Nations forces operating in southern Lebanon (UNIFIL), Major General Aroldo Lazaro, said today (Monday) that stability in the border area between Lebanon and Israel is still fragile, pointing out that peacekeepers are helping to prevent the escalation and development of matters.

This came in a speech delivered by Major General Latharu during a ceremony held by UNIFIL at its headquarters in the border town of Naqoura in southern Lebanon on the occasion of the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers and the 75th anniversary of United Nations peacekeeping operations, which falls today.

He said that more than two million people have served under the banner of the United Nations over 75 years of peacekeeping missions, and that during the 45 years since the establishment of UNIFIL, hundreds of thousands of soldiers have worked in southern Lebanon, noting their contributions, achievements and sacrifices.

"The role of the peacekeepers is to create a space to find a way for a political solution between the parties, reduce tensions and prevent conflict that may conflict with political solutions to conflicts," Major General Lazaro stressed.

"We depend on our partners in the government, civil society, religious authorities and the population to support us, and on our strong relations with the Lebanese army and security forces, with whom we work daily to maintain the calm and stability necessary for the success of our mandate," he added.

He stressed that "the events of the past month showed that this stability is still fragile, but thanks to the work of the peacekeepers, we were able to win the confidence and commitment of the parties, which facilitated the process of coordination and communication during the launch of the missiles, responding to them, and helping prevent the escalation of matters and their development into more."

Rockets were fired from southern Lebanon at northern Israel on April 6, without claiming responsibility from any party, while Israel responded by bombing open areas in the south.

It is noteworthy that UNIFIL has been operating in southern Lebanon since 1978 to monitor the withdrawal of Israeli forces from it. It was strengthened in 2006 under Security Council Resolution 1701, which put an end to the war launched by Israel on Lebanon in July of the same year.

According to its latest data, UNIFIL includes about 9,826 peacekeepers from 47 countries, and since its establishment, this force has lost 327 of its soldiers for the cause of peace in southern Lebanon.
