Ayman Odeh and the Arab political system in the country.. to where?

Khaled Khalifa

Khaled Khalifa

Opinion Writer

Representative Ayman Odeh, head of the Front for Peace and Equality list, announced, in a videoed personal statement broadcast on Tuesday evening, the sixteenth of May 2023, that he had made a personal decision not to run for the next session of the Israeli Knesset within the framework of the list of the Democratic Front, stressing the continuation of his current membership until the next session in Year 2026.

Odeh added in his statement that he would seek to build the broadest unity based on a generous national line and on the political program that brought us to 15 seats in the Knesset, noting that he would devote the next stage to "bringing peace between the two peoples," as he put it.
Odeh admitted that he had taken the most difficult decisions in his political life, adding that he would not run for the next Knesset elections within the framework of the Front.

Odeh did not reveal the reason for this step, but he said: “The central issue that I will do my best for is the serious and systematic contribution towards the larger cause, the mother issue, which is ending the occupation.”

And in March 2020, Odeh headed a coalition consisting of 4 Arab parties (the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality, the National Democratic Assembly, the Arab Movement for Change and the United Arab List), under the name of the “Joint List”, which at that time won 15 seats, becoming the third power in the Knesset.

On the eve of the elections that took place in March 2021, the “Unified List”, headed by Mansour Abbas, split from the “Joint List”, and ran the elections separately, winning 4 seats, while the “joint list”, with its three other parties, won 6 seats.

In the last elections, which took place in November 2022, the “Joint List” officially disintegrated, after the “National Democratic Assembly” party ran in the elections without the other two parties, and did not exceed the decisive threshold, which is 3.25 percent of the valid vote, while a coalition took place. The remaining two parties, the Front and Change, have 5 seats.

The upcoming resignation decision of Ayman Odeh caused a slight earthquake on the Arab political system in the country, as we did not hear serious statements and comments by senior politicians in the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality, and Odeh did not take advantage of the annual general conference held in late February in Shfaram. To announce this resignation, and this announcement stemmed more from what was going on in his imagination about his continuation in political work in the future without giving enough importance to the Front, and a strong struggle took place in the Front’s conference between the rising youth forces and the deputies who spent and continue to spend long periods in the same positions and there were no preparations It was not serious about the upcoming local and municipal elections, nor was it a kind of drawing lessons from the abject failure in the previous elections, as the Front, led by Ayman Odeh, achieved three seats, equal to the fifth seat with Ahmed Tibi.

Also, there was no serious controversy with everything related to not running in the last elections with the assembly, which led to the loss of the assembly, which led to its loss and failure to cross the threshold, in addition to the rise of the head of the Unified List, Mansour Abbas, and there was no direct accusation within the front in its agencies and in Her informing Ayman Od of the real reason why the Joint List did not win 15 seats in the last elections, but five.

We do not know exactly what the real goals are for the lack of a serious and real discussion about the failure of Representative Ayman Odeh to achieve any serious progress or achievements in his leadership of the Front for Peace and Equality in particular and the Arab masses in general.

Where he preferred to continue his unity with the Arab List for Change led by Ahmed al-Tibi and relinquished his alliance with the assembly and was not aware of the real intentions of Mansour Abbas’s strategy to withdraw from the Joint List and his acceptance of participation in any future government that led him to Lapid’s government. Especially adherence to the assembly as a strategic ally that eventually led to its disintegration and the rise of the Netanyahu Ben Gvir government.

Contrary to what he declared in his resignation letter that his greatest achievement was establishing and maintaining the Joint List.

Contrary to what he announced that the Joint List was one of the greatest achievements of the Palestinian Arabs in this country under the leadership of Representative Odeh, however, it was the achievements of ink on paper as it did not achieve any progress in the nature of Arab political action and did not elect new people, who could have represented the Arab community in the country Although he traveled many times to the United States, met with some congressmen in the Capitol building, and wrote a number of articles in the New York Times, all of this did not bring about a radical and real change in the position of the Arabs in the international community, as the blind support for this Jewish segment remained in New York. And Washington is an unending supporter of Israel, and he had to turn only to some liberals who believe in the inevitability of the inevitable link between Israel and the United States.

And once again, with everything related to his announcement of resignation in the upcoming elections, it would have been more appropriate for him to announce that immediately after the results of the elections were announced and to take upon himself the responsibility for the loss and the decrease in the support of the Front to become the second force in Palestinian society!!

There is a great importance in this regard, which is evident in his strategy, which is summed up in the fact that he did not dare to run in the elections without allying with the Arab Movement for Change due to his real fears that the front would not cross the threshold.

As for today, there is a real danger to the Arab lists in the upcoming elections in the event that they do not formulate a clear-cut strategy, in which the parties elect young, active and influential personalities who can work with foundations and logic completely different from what Arab politics have worked on for the last twenty years, and these concepts are also related to the list of the Front for Peace. And equality, which has a huge and wide struggle in Arab society, in addition to new forces that can appear on the surface, but without the policy of the united list being the tyrant and desperate to participate in any current or future government.

Although Ayman Odeh continues not to reveal his papers as to where he will go in the future, I suggest that he write down that short political experience and write his memoirs, so that we researchers can examine what happened in those previous years of Arab political action.

Education between two poles Brazilian Paulo Freire / American John Dewey

Dr.. Fawaz Akl

Dr.. Fawaz Akl

Opinion Writer

Paolo Freire, author of the book Teaching the Oppressed 1968, says in his book that changing societies begins with education that draws the history and culture of societies, and this book is based on active dialogue to solve problems based on hope, love, humility, and humanity. A tool to liberate the mind and ignite the spark of creativity and focus on the mutual dialogue between the teacher and the learner and on the humanization of education to come up with what he called banking education that encourages memorizing, receiving and storing information. He demanded that education transform so that the learner is the focus of the educational process, not the teacher and the content. He believes that it is necessary to change teaching methods in more stimulating, diverse and flexible ways, such as cooperative learning, active learning and problem-solving, which changes the role of the teacher who dominates everything that takes place in the classroom to become an interlocutor, facilitator and facilitator of education. Freire believes in dialogic education that is far from indoctrination, storing information in the student's mind, dominating the teacher, and rejecting the culture of classroom silence that makes students passive. He considered that dialogue and conversation are a reason for the renaissance of education through interactive education based on love, humility, hope, and humanity. Freire asserts that people can change their circumstances if they adopt mutual dialogue. Freire believes that the dialogue crisis that we are suffering from is an inevitable result of the weak culture of dialogue that prevails in societies. Dialogue education, in his view, begins at home, because if a child grows up deprived of dialogue at home, he will be an enemy of dialogue.

He believes that dialogue should be a way of life at home, school and society. Freire called for the education system to be democratic through the following principles:
1. Love is the basis of dialogue, and it is difficult to establish a dialogue with another person without love being the basis of the relationship.
2. Freire believes in the humanization of education and says that people can change their circumstances through dialogue based on respect and humility.
3. Confidence in the student and his ability to make a difference.
4. Encouraging critical thinking, as the thinking person sees that the future is a process of continuous development and development to achieve humanization and believes that it is necessary to have a teacher with a positive outlook and does not believe that he is the only source of information.

As for John Dewey in his book Democracy and Education 1916, in which he calls for unity between theory and practices, Dewey believes that teachers consider students to acquire knowledge only as the mind is separated from the body, which results in problems in class discipline and neglect of the senses and physical activities, and Dewey says, "If we know Students today, with the same method we used yesterday, we will steal from them tomorrow.” For Dewey, education is not preparation for life, but life. Education for him is based on trial and error, reflection, experience, practice, experience, and the reflection of practical experience on the learning process. Education, for him, is to ignite a spark, not to fill a pot, and he demanded that the classroom be a breeding center for creativity through a stimulating, participatory, and encouraging learning environment in which the student interacts with different and varied situations. In his book, Dewey linked democracy and education through the following principles:
1. Learning through dialogue Here he agrees with Freire on the importance of dialogue and discussion through a democratic educational environment that focuses on the culture of dialogue.
2. Active learning that focuses on the learner's self-activity in an attractive, interesting, and safe environment.
3. Democratic learning through decisions in which teachers, students, parents, society and specialists participate.
4. Experience by providing students with a variety of different experiences in which the student interacts with others through a special environment and that experience and growth do not stop, and he believes that education is a process of continuous and purposeful building and development in an environment in which one interacts with the other.
He asserts that there is no ideal educational system, ideal teacher, ideal environment, or ideal curriculum.

Finally, I see that both approaches share their view of education and the role of the teacher, the role of the student and the role of the environment. I say that the application of these educational views in any educational system leads to a change in education and its outputs.
The two approaches emphasize the importance of education, its development and reform in bringing about a quantum leap in terms of outputs to achieve a development renaissance that contributes to a qualitative transformation of the educational process.

An American who accused Biden of sexual assault is asking for Russian citizenship

An American woman who accused Joe Biden during the 2020 election campaign of sexually assaulting her in 1993 asked President Vladimir Putin for Russian citizenship during an interview in Moscow on Tuesday.

Tara Reid, 59, appeared in a video interview with Sputnik News Agency alongside Russian MP Maria Butina, who was imprisoned in the United States for attempting to penetrate political circles.

Reed said she arrived in Moscow as a tourist but felt "safe for the first time in a very long time". She explained that she decided to settle in Russia when a Republican deputy told her that her life was in danger.

"I want to apply to President Vladimir Putin for Russian citizenship," she said, promising to be a "good citizen".

And in early 2020, Reid accused then-presidential candidate Joe Biden of sexually assaulting her in a corridor of the US Congress in 1993, when he was a senator and she was an assistant to him.

The accusation, which the Democrat emphatically denied, was nonetheless embarrassing because of his campaign against outgoing President Donald Trump, who has been accused by several women of sexual assault, harassment or rape.

But inconsistencies marred Reed's statements. For example, no trace of the complaint she claimed to have filed with Congress after the fact was found.

The American, who introduces herself as a specialist in geopolitics, confirmed on Tuesday that she had received death threats after announcing her accusations in 2020.

Serious dangers to Jerusalem

Hamada Pharaohs

Hamada Pharaohs

Opinion Writer

The dangers increase for Jerusalem in general, and for Al-Aqsa Mosque in particular, and for what remains of Palestine from the second occupation zones in 1967, towards Hebrewization, Israeliization, and Judaization.

It is true that it has a valiant and courageous people, who stand up with strength and faith in defense of Palestine, its Arabism, Islam and Christianity, but the superior capabilities of the colony make the people of Palestine and its people the least capable, least maneuverable, and the most losing in the battle of the conflict between the two projects: 1_ the colonialist, Israeli-Jewish expansionist, and 2_ and between the project National Democratic Palestinian Arab Islamic Christian.

The dangers to Jerusalem and its sanctities, the Palestinian West Bank and its geography are increasing, against the background of the occupation’s penetration, and the increase in the influence of the extremist alliance between the political right-wing and the group of religious extremist Jews, who have penetrated and set their practical programs towards achieving two goals:

The first is that a united Jerusalem is the capital of the Israeli colony.

Secondly, the Palestinian West Bank is Judea and Samaria, that is, part of the map of the Israeli colony.

This encroachment, this extremism, this Israeli expansion, and this assault on Islamic and Christian sanctities needs supportive Arab, Islamic and Christian levers to support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and support the continuation of their struggle.

Extremism, extremism, and Israeli-Jewish transgression of Islamic and Christian sanctities need the Arab-Islamic-Christian red eye. And his resurrection.
Al-Ain Al-Hamra needs concrete, tangible, political, practical actions, not just moral statements despite their importance, and therefore it needs accompanying steps, so that its vocabulary and contents have value, importance and consideration for the colony and the Americans and Europeans who support it.

It is inconceivable that insulting the sanctities of Muslims and Christians, and manifestations of security, political, diplomatic and commercial normalization continues with the colony.

It is inconceivable that the Jerusalem Endowments Council, who are Islamic and Christian patriotic subjects, remain seated only in Jerusalem facing the occupation and its programs. They are the address of the people of Jerusalem and its people. They must tour the Islamic capitals: from Cairo to Rabat and the countries of Islamic Africa, and from Riyadh to Tehran to reach To Pakistan, Malaysia and Indonesia, to present the real and realistic picture and scenes, the dangers and challenges facing them, and to urge these capitals, their governments and their people to move in a way that benefits their sanctities, as they are Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah.

A tax for Jerusalem must be imposed on every pilgrim and every Umrah performer who performs the Hajj and Umrah rituals in favor of protecting Al-Aqsa Mosque, the first Qibla of Muslims.

The dangers to Jerusalem and its sanctities, and to the West Bank and the rest of Palestine, are increasing, serious and real dangers that require a pause of support and a sense of responsibility.

The Middle East and change the old rules

 Nabil Amr

Nabil Amr

Opinion Writer

One of the most important factors of permanent turmoil in the Middle East is the aspiration of many of its countries to establish influence in other countries, sometimes under political slogans, and others ideologically. local, and the hands that move and spend on it come from beyond the borders, and even from beyond the oceans.

This was the case of the Middle East and its countries, and as a result, one of the most important regions of the world sank into a vortex of death, destruction and bloodshed, and the people of the Middle East had no choice but to pay the price for this.

And if we review the results of this tragic path, we find a shining fact that says... that the intervention of one country in another country to extend its influence over it has always failed, but rather achieved the opposite result, as the desired influence in another country has become a heavy burden on those who seek it. , and an exhausting depletion of capabilities, and no country that got involved in such a matter except that it reaped a decline that reaches the brink of collapse in its economy, and what is supposed to be spent on its development.

In the context of seeking such influence, another issue resulted in the level of countries that have become victims of this type of intervention, which is the marginalization of the role of their people and their political forces in bringing about positive changes in their countries, so that the fate of the entity that was involved in calling for external intervention is linked to the agendas of the interventionists. In politics, war and influence, there is no charitable work. In the matter of intervention... Rather, it is an influence that is difficult to get rid of if I want to.

The regions that have suffered most from this phenomenon are our Middle East, and its geographical, human and wealth heart is our Arab world, and we can now ask: What did the interventions produce for their various motives and methods? One system did not change, and one country that was interfered with was not annexed to another, and the entities and systems remained the same. its condition, and any change, major or minor, was only due to internal work; Either governments did it, or public opinion and its national institutions forced them to do it.

The radical and accelerating changes and influence on the world level in which the Middle East lives, necessitate that the countries of the region, large and small, abandon the logic of searching for influence in other countries, and that countries that require external intervention they deem necessary stop practicing this miserable investment, which experience has proven to bear a loss. An investigator for those who interfere, and for those who require intervention...

And if the people of the Middle East, who are full of issues that have no solution according to the old rules, are eager to leave the vortex of bleeding, destruction and waste, then their decision-making countries and systems have no choice but to stop once and for all with the illusion of establishing influence outside the borders of their countries and societies, and to stop running after the mirage of a tidal wave. Influence is the result of an imperial illusion. If it was valid in an ancient time, then there is no room for it to be valid in our time...

People are tired of wasting their capabilities in investing outside their borders, their lives, and in the sphere of influence. The time has come to change the old rules by establishing new ones, the basis of which is that investment in reconciliation and common interests, and on the basis of respect for each country for the other, is what provides mutual benefit with others, and to the same extent provides A sound orientation of the energies and capabilities to where any of them should be directed to their owners.

What I am saying is not rhetoric, preaching, or mere wishful thinking, but rather the truth whose introductions began to appear between Saudi Arabia and Iran, as well as between Egypt and Iran, and it must be completed between Egypt and Turkey, and perhaps Syria as well, and in the event that the path continues and is protected by those who benefit from the old remaining as it is. We will see a Middle East, if not completely new, then in a better condition.

From the inspiration of the homeland, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani: Hatami of temperament and Palestinian passion

Dr.. Ahmed Youssef

Dr.. Ahmed Youssef

Opinion Writer

During my work as a political advisor to the Prime Minister or as an undersecretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2006-2011), I had the opportunity to meet with the Qatari leadership, and my participation in cabinet meetings gave me a lot to see the efforts, gifts and positions of many countries that were dealing with us.. There is no doubt that Qatar And its former emir, His Highness Sheikh Hamad, were at the forefront, in terms of contacts and communication, and the key to a solution to the humanitarian and political crises that we were exposed to.

I was a witness to much of what Qatar and its Emir offered, and I recorded some of those positions and meetings in a study called (Qatar and Hamas: Generosity of Giving and Controversy of Politics), as my testimony to history; Because instilling favor does not waste its earnings, nor does it forget to mention it, and as they said: “The custom between God and people does not go away.”

After the formation of Ismail Haniyeh's first government in March 2006, the Chief of Staff, Dr. Muhammad Al-Madhoun made an Arab and international tour at the end of June of the same year, which included visits to Egypt, Switzerland, Syria, the Emirates and Qatar, where we had the opportunity to meet many political levels in those countries.

In fact, it was the interview of His Highness Sheikh Hamad; The Emir of the State of Qatar at the time, is among the most intimate, fraternal, and honest in pledge and loyalty.

After the end of our tour in Switzerland, and when we heard some ideas and initiatives from the Swiss Foreign Ministry, we decided to share them with some of our close friends among the Arab and Muslim leaders. Qatar was one of the countries that we found it good to visit and present what we discussed with the Swiss and what they gave us of suggestions.

I called a friend of ours in Qatar who has close ties to the ruling family, and told him we have a message we want to deliver to His Highness the Emir, and we hope you will help us arrange that. The man called and said the prince was ready to meet you in the court.

We went on time, and found His Highness Sheikh Hamad waiting for us at the Amiri Diwan in Doha, where he greeted us with a smile and a welcome, and His Highness sat listening to our conversation about the situation in Gaza, the relationship with our brothers in the Fatah movement and with President Abu Mazen, and also about the European position and the meanings and secrets of our visit to Switzerland. We also took the conversation towards Iran. Its role and positions, the American position refusing to deal with Haniyeh’s government, and the possibilities of the role that Qatar can play to help the elected government and lift the siege on it.

Frankly, I felt in that meeting that I was talking with my older brother, and with an Arab leader who follows our cause with interest, and that Palestine, its people and its leadership have a special place in his heart and conscience.

We reviewed with His Highness our meetings with the Swiss Foreign Ministry, and exchanged opinions and advice with him about what some Europeans think to communicate with Hamas, but some of them are unable because of the "American obstacle" that represents a stumbling block and an insurmountable obstacle in the face of any progress forward.. We promised His Highness to make an effort with The Americans, although he knows that the path is still complicated, and that there is pressure - from the Americans - on Qatar not to expand its support and relations with Hamas. With regard to Iran, His Highness listened to our point of view, and blessed our directions of openness to everyone. Considering that the Palestinian issue is the issue of the nation, and that Iran is an important country in the region, and that strengthening relations with it is a credit to the Palestinian people and a win for their cause.

naturally; His Highness the Emir did not fail to mention the historical contribution of the Palestinians since the fifties in building the educational institution in the State of Qatar. His Highness also referred to the years that President Abu Mazen lived as a teacher in Qatar, and that he had a special respect for him on a personal level.

I do not fail to mention that His Highness Sheikh Hamad has a sense of humor and humor, and he liked many of the jokes told by my colleague Dr. greased; And he has the ability to present the joke in a way that makes you laugh out loud. I felt the harmony of His Highness in listening to many of these jokes, and we exchanged some of what he had, which broke the formality of the meeting, and made us feel as if we were sitting and chatting with our older brother.

After that session and the long conversation with His Highness the Emir, many negative impressions that prevailed in our political culture towards our people in the Gulf countries changed. He presented us with a pamphlet of several pages, and asked us to record for him all that we see as urgent needs for the government, and what we also hope to achieve in terms of aspirations, and what we hope for in terms of desires.

And a testimony to history, that His Highness Sheikh Hamad accomplished - with great loyalty - all that we wrote down in that meeting, the last of which was his historic visit to the Gaza Strip in October 2012, and his inauguration of many projects that today are a landmark, and are a testament to his magnanimity and generosity, and glittering urban landmarks. On the land of the Gaza Strip, and it says to us and to generations to come after us: "The prince passed through here... and this is the effect."

In short: Qatar, with its former Emir, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani (may God protect and preserve him), was the hand of goodness that did not stingy on anyone. Generosity and generosity, and if His Highness Emir Sheikh Hamad has magnified his gifts and generosity to the sons of his nation, as “the best of the worlds is the stomach of his palm”, then His Highness Emir Sheikh Tamim followed in the footsteps of his father, and his righteous approach, in his sympathy and national feelings, his humanitarian stances, and his exploits in generosity and giving. We have seen how Qatar presented a convoy of people giving to Palestine at the donors' conference held in Cairo on October 12, 2014, for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip after that war of aggression against it, as it preceded everyone, and its generous grant was one billion dollars.

Our people will not forget the historic visit of His Highness Sheikh Hamad to the Gaza Strip, as he was the first Arab president to visit the Strip and break the siege on it, not only with his Amiri convoy that roamed the streets of the Gaza Strip, but also with his generous donation of half a billion dollars for the advancement of the infrastructure of the Strip, through many projects. The strategy, which succeeded in moving the sector's economy and reducing its unemployment rate.

In conclusion, we will not forget, as we remember these bright pages of history, to testify to Qatar and His Highness Sheikh Tamim that they were also among the first initiators to provide support to those affected by the repeated aggressive wars on the Gaza Strip, as the Qatari Reconstruction Committee, since its establishment, has been providing initial aid and urgent humanitarian relief To the families of the martyrs and the wounded, and to repair the infrastructure of all that was destroyed by those battles and wars.

Our Palestinian people will not lose sight of those Qatari stands in support of their cause in international forums, their appreciation for the words and positions of His Highness Emir Sheikh Tamim condemning the permanent Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, and his demand from the international community for a just political settlement that obliges Israel to end its occupation of the Palestinian territories in 67 AD.

Qatar, with its Emir, Sheikh Hamad and his son, His Highness Sheikh Tamim, its government and loyal people, will remain the "brotherhood of Al-Mu'tasim" to our people and our cause.

Macron calls for the election of a president for Lebanon "without delay"

French President Emmanuel Macron affirmed, on Tuesday, during his reception at the Elysee Palace, the Maronite Patriarch Bechara Al-Rahi, his support for the "efforts" made by the head of the Maronite Church to get Lebanon out of the "political deadlock", calling on all forces in the country mired in crises to elect a president for the republic "without delay."

The French presidency said in a statement that Macron and Al-Rahi “expressed their deep concerns about the crisis” afflicting Lebanon and “the paralysis of institutions, which was exacerbated by the vacancy of the presidency more than seven months ago.”

The Elysee added in its statement that the French president and the Maronite patriarch "agreed on the need to elect a president without delay."

The statement quoted Macron stressing the “necessity” for Lebanon’s Christians to remain “at the heart of the sectarian and institutional balance of the Lebanese state.”

Al-Rahi's visit to Paris comes at a time when several political forces are trying to agree on supporting a presidential candidate to block the arrival of former minister Suleiman Franjieh, who enjoys major support from Hezbollah, the most prominent political and military force in the country.

Lebanese officials, some of whom visited Paris recently, criticize France for supporting, according to them and several reports, Franjieh's accession to the presidency, which is denied by French diplomats. France, the former mandate power in Lebanon, has always enjoyed a privileged position in the country. Some Lebanese, especially the Christians, refer to her as the "compassionate mother", given that she supported Lebanon in several stages of its history.

Al-Rahi arrived in Paris from the Vatican, where he met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Holy See, Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
And the shepherd, who heads the largest Christian denomination in Lebanon, discussed with Macron during their hour-long meeting "means of bringing opinions together," according to what the patriarch's circles reported.

According to the French presidency, Macron stressed that the current "blockage" in Lebanon represents an "obstacle" to reforms "without which there can be no permanent advancement and stability for Lebanon."

The Elysee statement stated, "The President of the Republic expressed his support for the efforts made by Patriarch Al-Rahi, and called for concerted efforts by all political forces to end the current political impasse without delay."

For months, Paris has been leading a movement to urge the Lebanese to expedite the election of a president for the country and carry out urgent reforms to obtain international financial support to get their country out of its worsening economic crisis since the fall of 2019.

Representatives of five countries concerned with Lebanese affairs, including France, the United States and Saudi Arabia, held a meeting in Paris in February to discuss the situation in Lebanon, without achieving any progress.

Hezbollah and its allies support Franjieh's accession to the presidency, while Hezbollah's opponents, most notably the Christian Lebanese Forces and Kataeb parties, oppose his arrival. He is also opposed by the Christian Free Patriotic Movement headed by Gebran Bassil, an ally of Hezbollah, who considers himself a "natural candidate" for the presidency.

No party has a parliamentary majority that enables it to field its candidate. There is a bloc of independents in parliament that is also not inclined to elect Franjieh.

Among the names of the presidential candidates are opposition MP Michel Moawad and former minister Jihad Azour, who currently runs the Middle East and Central Asia department at the International Monetary Fund.

The three Christian parties seek to agree on Azour.

In a sermon he delivered on Sunday, Patriarch Al-Rahi said, referring to Azour without naming him, "We would like to thank God for what we hear about reaching some consensus between the parliamentary blocs about the personality of the next president, so that he does not constitute a challenge to anyone, and at the same time he has a personality." It responds to the needs of Lebanon today and inspires internal and external confidence.

The most prominent of what the Hebrew newspapers dealt with about the Tulkarm operation

The Hebrew newspapers, published on Wednesday, focused on the shooting attack near Tulkarm yesterday, which led to the killing of a settler.

And Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper saw in a report by its military correspondent, Yossi Yehoshua, that the attack that took place yesterday ended two months of relative calm, although it recorded an attack attempt almost every day, the last of which was the dangerous attack attempt in the Nana Omer settlement in the south of Hebron after a Palestinian infiltrated it, and then an attempt Planting an explosive device on Route 60 near Ramallah, and shooting at settlements near Gilboa.

Yehoshua believed that there are 3 trends for the current escalation, the first is the increase in attacks from Jenin after the armed groups identified Gilboa settlements such as Jean Ner as a target for long-range shooting, which may increase over time, with individual attempts to carry out attacks, while the second trend is related to the escalation Attacks from Tulkarm, where a settler was killed yesterday and a soldier was injured hours earlier in Nur Shams refugee camp, which was quiet compared to Nablus and Jenin until recently, while the third trend relates to an increase in shootings on settlement roads in the West Bank.

He referred to the criticism of the settlers in the Harmish settlement, north of Tulkarm, near which the attack took place yesterday, to the Israeli army for evacuating a military checkpoint in the area, which he considered normal and justified after yesterday's attack, pointing out at the same time that the army has no magical solution to stop these attacks other than the deployment of soldiers. On different axes, barriers and points to improve the sense of security.

In another report by the Hebrew newspaper, it referred to the sharp criticisms leveled by the residents of Harmish settlement to the leadership of the Israeli army, and their attempt to understand the reason for not securing the axis near which the operation took place, indicating that many points in the area had been stopped guarding and securing.

The report indicates that the dead settler arrived at the settlement with his wife 5 years ago, and they only recently finished building their house.

The residents of the settlement believe that the presence of the soldiers could have prevented the attack in the area.

For his part, Tal Lev Ram, the military correspondent for the Hebrew newspaper, Maariv, said that the attack took place directly at the entrance to Harmish settlement, and that it was estimated that those who carried it out came from Nur Shams camp, where relatively calm prevailed in recent years.

He pointed out that two Palestinians who carried out the attack were in a vehicle that overtook the settler's vehicle and fired between 7 and 9 bullets. Despite his injury, he managed to reach the entrance of the settlement before collapsing. his death.

Tal Lev Ram said that the issue of providing full protection for the settlements is complex, pointing to the escalation of attacks from Tulkarm, especially the Nur Shams camp.

He said, "We see refugee camps that were quieter, and now attacks have begun to come out of them. An organized cell or a lone terrorist who decides to carry out an attack, comes out holding his weapon and decides to attack a vehicle on the nearby roads, indicates that we have become in a very complicated situation."

For its part, the Hebrew newspaper Israel Hayom said that yesterday's attack broke 3 weeks of the relative decrease in the number of attacks in the West Bank, noting that the attack took place despite the high security vigilance among the security establishment, which maintained this vigilance despite the recent decrease in the frequency of attacks.

The newspaper believed that the availability of large quantities of weapons in the West Bank cannot be described, and that any Palestinian who wants to obtain a rifle or pistol does not make much effort, and there are elements who are happy with that and give him weapons to carry out the attack, and therefore when he puts his hand on the weapon and decides for himself when he will carry out the attack. , it is very difficult to prevent, especially if a passing vehicle is shot and the attack is carried out in a few seconds.

The newspaper believes that the settlers' criticism of the Israeli army is misplaced, especially since the site of the attack has not been inhabited for many years, and even if the soldiers were at the point near it, they would not have prevented the attack, but they might be able to neutralize the attackers.

She pointed out that there are fears of inspiring attacks after the successful attack yesterday, and if the attacks are repeated, this may drag the Israeli government into a large-scale military operation, despite calls to start it immediately so as not to pay a higher price.

The newspaper indicates that the security establishment has not yet taken a decision regarding the policy followed in the West Bank, and therefore it is expected that the current operations will continue with the nightly storming of Palestinian cities to arrest wanted persons and confiscate weapons.

And she indicated that there will be a particularly high state of vigilance in the coming days, because the Israeli security establishment believes that yesterday's attack may lead to more inspiring attacks, and that the ability to calm the volatile region for more than a year is very low, especially in light of the weakness of the Palestinian Authority's rule.

Celebrations of the wedding of the young crown prince occupy the Jordanians

Jordan is busy with various activities to celebrate the wedding of Crown Prince Hussein and his Saudi fiancée, Rajwa Al Saif, in an event that is similar in terms of its follow-up and circulation on the Internet to the celebrations of royal families in the West, which is unique to the Jordanian royal family in a conservative Middle East in general.

The royal wedding takes place on Thursday, but the festivities began nearly a week ago with air shows, fireworks and free concerts.

Jordanians shared, on social media, pictures and video clips of the bride's henna night party last week, and of the bride's white dress, which bore the phrase woven with golden threads, "I see you, so I have life." It is a verse adapted from a poem of spinning by the famous Tunisian poet Abu al-Qasim al-Shabi (1909-1934). ).

A video clip posted by the Royal Court on YouTube shows the sisters of the Crown Prince, Princesses Salma and Iman, and their mother, Queen Rania, singing, clapping and dancing with the attendees.

Lara Al-Lati, 35, a tourism office employee and social activist who participated in the henna night, told AFP, "The party was very simple, like any Jordanian night of joy... Even the food was Jordanian dishes."

Al-Lati shared photos from the ceremony on her Facebook account. And she added, "The atmosphere, the decorations, and the ululation are of a simple Jordanian character, making you feel like you are in a family party."

Al-Lati talks about "the humility of the Hashemite family, and the true joy of those present," adding, "Everyone took pictures and posted them on social media. This may not happen with other royal families."

Queen Rania delivered a speech during the henna night, in which she said, "Hussein is my first joy, my eldest son (...). Like any mother, I have long dreamed of seeing him as a bride."

She added, "Hussein is your son, and you are his family, and this is your wedding."

After the henna night, a show was held in the sky of Amman, with drones painted with their lights in the shape of a royal crown and phrases including "We rejoice in Hussein."

Suhad Al-Idrisi, 45, and her sister and niece wore T-shirts that read "We rejoice in Hussein." They carried Jordanian flags and attended a free concert at Amman Stadium on Monday, which was performed by Arab artists Ragheb Alama, Tamer Hosni, Ahmed Saad, Diana Karazon and Zain Awad.

"This is Jordan's bridegroom, and we must celebrate him," al-Idrisi told AFP, adding, "It is an opportunity to live an atmosphere of joy, since for a long time we have not seen this joy in Jordan," which suffers from difficult economic conditions, noting that she prepared sweets and roses to be distributed on the wedding day.

And she continued, "The Hashemite family is close to us and has nothing to hide. Full details of the wedding can be seen through communication sites and live broadcasts, not like other Arab ruling families."

Al-Idrisi considered that "the use of social communication by the Hashemite family brings them closer to the ruling families in the West."
Artist Hussein Al Jasmi will hold another free concert on Saturday at the Roman Amphitheater in central Amman.

On Thursday, the red royal motorcade, which appears on royal and national occasions, will roam the streets of Amman, accompanying the car of the prince (28 years old) and his bride (28 years old), as it accompanied the two wedding processions of King Abdullah and King Hussein before him.

The convoy, which will carry 71 members of the Royal Guard, will consist of 14 red convertible Land Rovers and 10 motorcycles.
After the wedding, a reception and dinner will be held in the Husseiniya Palace.

Prince Hussein, the eldest son of King Eidallah and Queen Rania, became crown prince in July 2009 when he was 15 years old.
The young prince is active on social media, especially through the "Instagram" account, which has four million followers, and is managed by the Crown Prince personally. He publishes pictures of his activities, his practice of climbing in Wadi Rum and his military training, in addition to pictures with his family members and his fiancee.

Prince Hussein, who has colored eyes and a light beard, focuses his activities on the youth sector and seeks to support and empower them through the Crown Prince Foundation, which he established in 2015 to provide initiatives and opportunities for young people.

And he, like the rest of the royal family in Jordan, is respected among Jordanians who are known not to be openly critical of the royal family.
The prince finished high school at King's Academy in Jordan in 2012, and studied international history at Georgetown University in the United States before taking, like his father and grandfather, King Hussein, military lessons.

He has a brother, Prince Hashem, in addition to his two sisters.

The bride was born in Riyadh, and she is a descendant of the sheikhs of Sudair in Najd. She has two brothers, Faisal and Nayef, and a sister, Dana. She received her high school education in Saudi Arabia and completed her higher education at the School of Architecture at Syracuse University in New York.

The wedding will be attended by international personalities, most notably Jill Biden, the wife of the US President, and the King of the Netherlands, Willem-Alexander, and his wife.
Since graduating from the British Royal Military Academy "Sandhurst" in 2017, Prince Hussein has been under the spotlight.

"The royal wedding culminates in an advanced step in its preparation," said Oraib Al-Rantawi, director of the Jerusalem Center for Political Studies. "It brings it closer to popular circles, and at the international level, through the presence of personalities from royal families or ruling families."
And he stresses that "this contributes to the consolidation of the Emir's network of relations."

Al-Rantawi points out that the royal court used social media to give Jordanians a greater opportunity to see the details.
"For years, the king has personally supervised the preparation of the prince, who appears in visits, conferences and important meetings always at his side," said writer and former information minister Samih al-Maaytah.
He points out that marriage is "a human and social event related to the continuity of the royal family."

The delegation of the Palestinian community warns officials in the Biden administration against the consequences of exempting Israel from a visa for free

A group of representatives of the Palestinian-American community met with officials from the US State Department and the US Department of Homeland Security to discuss the latest developments in the discussions that the United States is conducting with the Israeli occupation government regarding the treatment of Palestinian Americans as all Americans of different ethnic origins upon entering or leaving Penn Airport. Gurion or across bridges to and from the occupied West Bank, or the besieged Gaza Strip.

It is noteworthy that the United States has been in continuous discussions since 2021 with successive Israeli governments (since then) regarding exempting Israelis from a visa to enter the United States in return for Israel's pledge to treat Palestinian Americans who visit the occupied Palestinian territories or the Gaza Strip without complications or racist treatment, or Subjecting them to demands and standards that are not imposed on other Americans.

At the beginning of this month, the United States announced, in response to a question by the Al-Quds.com reporter, about the latest developments in the “visa exemption issue for Israelis,” by saying, “Israel has not yet met the required qualifications for exemption, including treating Palestinian Americans equally with all Americans.” According to Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel in his reply.

On behalf of the Palestinian community, the meeting was attended by representatives of: Adalah Organization; the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC); Ramallah Federation, Palestine (AFRP); Americans for Justice in Palestine (AJP) Palestinians Americans for Peace; Palestinian Women's Organization; the Arab American Foundation; Beit Sahour Organization, USA; Bir Zeit Organization, USA; and the Alliance of Palestinian American Organizations.

On the official US side, the following were present from the Department of Homeland Security: Serena Hoy, Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security for International Affairs; Assistant Secretary Brenda Abdel-Aal, Partnership Office Affairs; Robert Paschal, Senior Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Affairs at the US Department of Homeland Security.

and from the US State Department: Special Representative for Palestinian Affairs Hadi Amr; Andrew P. Miller, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Israeli-Palestinian Affairs in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs of the US State Department.

The representative of the Ramallah Union, Dr. Hanna Hanania, said at the beginning of the meeting: “We are united in our demand that there be no exceptions for Israel and the application of the rules of the program fully and equally; this cannot be a negotiation, and there is no room for concessions or compromise” in this field.

Hanania added, "We insist on reciprocity, and that it means that Americans (all Americans, including those of Palestinian origin) can travel to and through all entry points and checkpoints controlled by Israel, including Gaza and inside the Green Line, without hindrance and without discrimination." .

Regarding entry to and from the Gaza Strip, Fidaa Al-Eidi asked: “Will Palestinian American citizens, who hold an ID card in Gaza, be able to visit their families in Gaza by going to the airport and then to the Erez crossing to enter Gaza, and then exit through Erez to go to Jerusalem to pray, Then visit their families in the West Bank by crossing the checkpoint in Bethlehem, then return to the airport through the Qalandiya checkpoint, and return to the United States via Ben Gurion Airport?”

In turn, George Salem, a well-known lawyer in Washington, who worked as Deputy US Attorney General during the era of former US President Ronald Reagan, said: “All forms of travel bans on entry and exit issued by Israel without due legal procedures must be ended, and it should not be The Israeli authorities can use previous visa denial decisions that were taken without due process as a basis for a blanket refusal of entry.

Salem added, “In the event of a refusal of entry, Israel must provide a detailed written explanation of the reason for the refusal. This explanation must go further than simply stating the reason for the denial, as Israel has consistently abused ‘national security’ as a basis for refusing movement. It should also The use of prolonged detention and interrogation of American (Palestinian) travelers ends upon entry and exit. Israel must stop taking personal property, including, but not limited to, personal computers, watches, game consoles, tablets, phones, etc.”

The attendees confirmed to Al-Quds.com reporter that the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Homeland Security fully understand the Palestinian concern and concerns about granting Israel and the Israelis a visa exemption, and that the US administration will grant Israel a visa exemption only when it completes the qualifications required of other countries, including fully treating the Palestinians. Like all Americans in and out.

The meeting came as a result of a letter sent by the American-Palestinian and Arab-American organizations to US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on May 16 regarding the possibility of including Israel among countries exempt from entry visas to the United States.

“We write to you on behalf of hundreds of thousands of Palestinian Americans, Arab Americans, and allied communities across the United States to express our deep concern about the prospect of Israel being accepted into the US Visa Waiver Program as the Israeli government continues to discriminate against American citizens and deny Palestinians their right and human rights,” the letter said. the basic".

The letter notes that the text of the VWP states that participating countries must provide "reciprocal privileges to citizens and nationals of the United States," in accordance with Section 217 of the Immigration and Nationality Act. And in the Visa Waiver Program, reciprocity is based on the simple assumption that every American traveling on a US passport—regardless of race, creed, ethnic background, or secondary nationality—is treated in the same way as the United States treats foreign nationals. From the country participating in the Visa Waiver Program at all entry and transit points. In practice, this means that there is no discrimination against individuals on the basis of racial, national, religious, ethnic, etc. background/identity, and that access to that country is not restricted, as is the case for foreign nationals coming to the United States, during the period covered by the Waiver Program. visa.

The letter notes, "Israel's record of systematically discriminating against Palestinian American citizens because of their secondary nationalities, ethnicities, religions, and political views is a well-documented fact that the State Department attests to, and many members of our community have also experienced racial/ethnic profiling and inhumane treatment directly as part of Israel's actions." discrimination, including prolonged detention and interrogation, invasive interrogation, physical and electronic searches, confiscation of personal electronic devices, and denial of entry; in addition, Israel refuses to recognize the priority of US passports for Palestinian Americans included in the population registry, subjecting them to enhanced and exclusionary travel restrictions Rather than act to rectify these egregious violations, the Israeli government codified them in the Department of Defense's Coordination of Government Activities in the Occupied Territories (COGAT)" on October 3. The provisions in this measure effectively bar the majority of American citizens from entering the Palestinian West Bank for visits. short term. In contrast, these restrictions do not apply to US citizens who visit illegal Israeli settlements within the West Bank, clearly demonstrating their inherently discriminatory objective.

Erasing Islamic history, Israel inaugurates Old City museum in East Jerusalem

The Israeli occupation authorities inaugurated the $50 million Tower of David Museum at the Old City's Jaffa Gate after 10 years of excavations and three years of restoration at a ceremony with Israel's Jerusalem Affairs Minister Amichai Eliyahu, Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Leon, and a crowd of settlers and extremists.

The museum presents the history of Jerusalem according to the Israeli biblical narrative, using 3D models, old maps and other antiquities, while glossing over the Islamic history of the site. At least two mosques are known to exist inside the complex in occupied East Jerusalem.

According to the Jerusalem Affairs Ministry and Jerusalem municipality, the work lasted three years and more than a decade and about $50 million was spent that was invested in the comprehensive renovation and preservation plans for the museum, in addition to the renovation of the minaret.

The works included preserving the old castle, renovation of archaeological park, the establishment of a new entrance pavilion, shop and café, infrastructure renovation, as well as increased accessibility to the citadel itself.

The occupation linked the castle to a new entrance from outside the walls of Old Jerusalem at the Jaffa Gate - a new path for visitors to the castle and the mosque, which starts from the entrance wing at Jaffa Gate - Jaffa Gate, passes through the galleries and the observation point in the tower and ends at the exit of the Old City.

Dr. Yousef Al-Natsheh, the Director of the Center for Jerusalem Studies at Al-Quds University and the Director of Tourism and Antiquities at Al-Aqsa Mosque, previously told Al-Quds that the occupation authorities have turned the Tower of David complex into a museum after years of excavations and restoration, even though they know that it is one of the largest mosques in Jerusalem after the Al-Aqsa Mosque. It was one of the only mosques in which Friday prayers were held, despite its proximity to Al-Aqsa Mosque, due to the presence of hundreds of soldiers from the Ottoman Janissaries to protect it.

Al-Natsheh added: “Most of the current construction of the Jerusalem Citadel dates back to the Ayyubid, Mamluk, and Ottoman periods, and the construction overlaps to the west at the weakest point in Old Jerusalem in terms of fortifications compared to its borders, because the western side of the city is located in a high area and is not surrounded by mountains, and the castle is located on one of the four hills on which the city of Jerusalem is built. Old".

He indicated that the Jerusalem Citadel included antiquities from the second century BC. up to the Ottoman era. Each group added their own architectural features to the citadel, but it remained used throughout the different eras as a headquarters for command and soldiers, as well as a prison.

Al-Natsheh confirmed that all the excavations proved the current Islamic nature of the area, as the excavations began under the citadel in the Ottoman period, which was continued under the British Mandate. In 1967, Israel's authorities also continued these excavations, intensifying them in the 1980s. Three years ago, they discovered ancient Islamic monuments dating back to the Umayyad and Ottoman periods.

Pictures || The settlers celebrated their return to "Homesh" by attacking the citizens and their property

45 years after the founding and construction of the "Homesh" settlement, and 18 years after its evacuation as part of Ariel Sharon's unilateral withdrawal plan in 2005, the first batches of settlers arrived yesterday to revive and build the settlement in implementation of the decision of the extreme right-wing government in Israel, which unleashed the settlers and their parties to Judaize the Palestinian land. With the escalation of attacks and attacks against farmers.

Settlers entering Homesh via the main road, Jenin-Nablus, coincided with attacking Palestinian vehicles, breaking them and endangering the lives of citizens, as narrated by Khalil Hussein Mahmoud, who said that a group of settlers stopped his vehicle and he escaped with difficulty despite throwing stones at him.

And Mahmoud says: I lived through horrific moments, and I witnessed death and window glass flying inside my vehicle and the insults did not stop, and I miraculously escaped death.

Activists in the settlement resistance monitored the entry of an Israeli bus and several settler vehicles, guarded by a large number of patrols, to the area, which is considered one of the most targeted areas, after the Israeli Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, instructed the occupation army to allow the settlers to return to reside there.

Activist Hussein Khalil told Al-Quds.com that the occupation forces' movements over the past few days were suggestive of large equipment and military preparations to provide guard and protection for the settlement, which is located on a very high hill, known as the "Banat Ya'qub" mountain, which is the highest peak in the town. back way.

This settlement was established on governmental and agricultural lands owned by citizens of Silat al-Dhahr and Cyrenaica.

Witnesses told Al-Quds.com that, since the early hours of yesterday morning, the occupation deployed more patrols and reinforcements along Jenin-Nablus Street leading to the settlement, and despite that, citizens were subjected to attacks without the army intervening to protect them, as happened with the citizen Bahjat Abdel Khaleq, who reported that he While driving his private vehicle, he was surprised by settlers who stopped a vehicle carrying them in the vicinity of the gas station near Burqa, and threw stones at him while mocking him and waving Israeli flags, indicating that the occupation forces were behind them guarding them, and his vehicle almost deviated from the road and skidded off the mountain.

As for the driver of the public vehicle, Rasmi Nasser, he mentioned that settlers suddenly came out to him from behind the dirt berm at the entrance to Homesh settlement, where he was hiding behind, and threw stones at him, injuring two passengers after the side window of the vehicle was shattered.

In the same context, the residents mentioned that the soldiers stopped several vehicles near the entrance of the settlers, and while they were searching them and checking the identities of their passengers, the settlers approached them while chanting hostile slogans, and they heard them threatening to say in Hebrew, "This is the land of Israel, and soon we will burn you and drive you out of it."

The danger has been threatening citizens for years due to settler attacks and the occupation forces' conversion of the main street adjacent to the entrance to the area into a military barracks.

The people feel greater terror and fear, as activist Khalil recounts, who explained that entry to the area is impossible and prohibited by the permanent and continuous occupation, and activists, citizens, farmers, and Palestinian and international organizations that reject the occupation and resistance to settlement cannot enter or access it as it is a closed military zone, and due to the presence of control and monitoring points. spread by the occupation, and the spread of extremist settlers who attack anyone who tries to approach the area and even cattle herders.

ARIJ: The occupation is waging war on the Palestinian waters

The Applied Research Institute - Jerusalem (ARIJ) revealed that the occupation forces issued 58 military orders targeting the water sector in the occupied Palestinian territories, and in particular its infrastructure.

In a report, ARIJ indicated that most of them targeted the governorates of Ramallah, Salfit, and Jerusalem, with 13, 9, and 8 orders, respectively, and the rest were distributed to other governorates, indicating that it included the extension of water lines in the occupied Palestinian territories for the benefit of various settlement facilities, including settlements, outposts, and bases. military and others.

These orders came under the umbrella of Israeli Military Order No. 92 issued on August 15, 1967 (Order Concerning the Powers of
In accordance with the provisions of the water), which provides for granting full authority to control all water-related issues to the water officer and restricting the Palestinian share of water, which has not changed since the signing of the Oslo agreement, which amounts to 118 million cubic meters, according to the agreement, despite the doubling of the population from 1994 to 1994. 2021, in addition to the needs in other development sectors such as agriculture and industry.

ARIJ indicated that the apartheid wall, upon completion of its construction, will isolate 27 artesian wells and 32 springs in the occupied West Bank.

And he indicated that the Israeli occupation state exploits today about 85% of the Palestinian groundwater resources in the occupied Palestinian territories. , while the share of water per person is six in the Gaza Strip, and these numbers are far below the required standards for water supply recommended per capita per day by the World Health Organization.

This situation has been exacerbated by the construction of Israeli settlements, the construction of Israeli outposts, and the establishment of agricultural projects belonging to Israeli settlements (which consume large amounts of water) and other settlement facilities in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

According to the Israeli organization B'Tselem, in the year 2020, the average daily per capita consumption of water in the occupying state was
The Israeli average is 247 liters. This figure is much higher than the average per capita daily water consumption in Europe, which amounted to 144 liters per year.

As for the Palestinian communities that are not connected to the water network, the average daily per capita consumption of water is 26 liters.

The report indicated that an area of 64,000 dunums of Palestinian land is classified as Israeli agricultural areas, most of which are surrounded by Israeli settlements, where settlers cultivate and cultivate, in particular the Jordan Valley.

The Israeli occupation authorities practice an unfair and systematic policy against the water sector in the occupied Palestinian territories, which in turn reflects negatively on the lives of Palestinian citizens and prevents them from exercising their rights to live a decent life, as the occupied Palestinian territories suffer from a real water crisis, and the problem of inability to supply drinking water continues. Which led and leads to water cuts for long periods, and the reason for this interruption is due to the limited sources of drinking water resulting from the deliberate deprivation of water by the Israeli authorities through their control of the amount of water supplied to the Palestinians, which increases the suffering.

The report said: The water issue has always constituted a serious crisis in the occupied Palestinian territories, but during the past two decades, the water crisis began to take a different and dangerous curve and reached unprecedented levels, as the Palestinians were the most affected by it due to the escalation of the Israeli occupation state's control over water resources in the Palestinian territories. occupied.

Israeli concern about the audacity of the perpetrators of the attacks in the West Bank

Today, Tuesday, the Israeli authorities demolished the tents of the residents of the village of Al-Araqib, which is denied recognition and threatened with uprooting and displacement, in the Negev region in the lands of 1948, for the 217th time in a row, since its first demolition on July 27, 2010.

On May 1, 2023, the Israeli authorities demolished the homes of Al-Araqib residents for the 216th time.

This is the sixth time that the Israeli authorities have demolished the tents of Al-Araqib residents since the beginning of this year, after demolishing them 15 times last year, and 14 times in 2021.

The people of al-Araqib re-erect their tents every time, made of wood and a nylon cover, to protect them from the bitter cold in the winter and the scorching heat in the summer, and to confront plans to uproot and displace them from their land.

The Israeli authorities refuse to recognize their right of ownership of the land and restrict them, with the aim of pushing them into forced migration by demolishing the village, as well as razing agricultural crops and preventing them from pastures and raising livestock.
