Israeli authorities defer case of sick Palestinian prisoner Walid Daqqa
The committee dealing with the conditional release of inmates in the Israeli Prison Service decided on Wednesday not to release Palestinian prisoner, Walid Daqqa, who is battling bone marrow cancer.
According to the Israeli public broadcaster Kan, the panel referred Daqqa's case to the Parole Committee for inmates facing life sentences, stating that it did not have the authority to discuss his release.
Daqqa's defense team continues to demand his release due to his poor health.
Government agencies, including the extremist National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, as well as the family of the Israeli soldier who Daqqa is accused of being involved in his killing 1984, are demanding that he is kept in prison.
