The most prominent of what the Hebrew newspapers dealt with about the Tulkarm operation
The Hebrew newspapers, published on Wednesday, focused on the shooting attack near Tulkarm yesterday, which led to the killing of a settler.
And Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper saw in a report by its military correspondent, Yossi Yehoshua, that the attack that took place yesterday ended two months of relative calm, although it recorded an attack attempt almost every day, the last of which was the dangerous attack attempt in the Nana Omer settlement in the south of Hebron after a Palestinian infiltrated it, and then an attempt Planting an explosive device on Route 60 near Ramallah, and shooting at settlements near Gilboa.
Yehoshua believed that there are 3 trends for the current escalation, the first is the increase in attacks from Jenin after the armed groups identified Gilboa settlements such as Jean Ner as a target for long-range shooting, which may increase over time, with individual attempts to carry out attacks, while the second trend is related to the escalation Attacks from Tulkarm, where a settler was killed yesterday and a soldier was injured hours earlier in Nur Shams refugee camp, which was quiet compared to Nablus and Jenin until recently, while the third trend relates to an increase in shootings on settlement roads in the West Bank.
He referred to the criticism of the settlers in the Harmish settlement, north of Tulkarm, near which the attack took place yesterday, to the Israeli army for evacuating a military checkpoint in the area, which he considered normal and justified after yesterday's attack, pointing out at the same time that the army has no magical solution to stop these attacks other than the deployment of soldiers. On different axes, barriers and points to improve the sense of security.
In another report by the Hebrew newspaper, it referred to the sharp criticisms leveled by the residents of Harmish settlement to the leadership of the Israeli army, and their attempt to understand the reason for not securing the axis near which the operation took place, indicating that many points in the area had been stopped guarding and securing.
The report indicates that the dead settler arrived at the settlement with his wife 5 years ago, and they only recently finished building their house.
The residents of the settlement believe that the presence of the soldiers could have prevented the attack in the area.
For his part, Tal Lev Ram, the military correspondent for the Hebrew newspaper, Maariv, said that the attack took place directly at the entrance to Harmish settlement, and that it was estimated that those who carried it out came from Nur Shams camp, where relatively calm prevailed in recent years.
He pointed out that two Palestinians who carried out the attack were in a vehicle that overtook the settler's vehicle and fired between 7 and 9 bullets. Despite his injury, he managed to reach the entrance of the settlement before collapsing. his death.
Tal Lev Ram said that the issue of providing full protection for the settlements is complex, pointing to the escalation of attacks from Tulkarm, especially the Nur Shams camp.
He said, "We see refugee camps that were quieter, and now attacks have begun to come out of them. An organized cell or a lone terrorist who decides to carry out an attack, comes out holding his weapon and decides to attack a vehicle on the nearby roads, indicates that we have become in a very complicated situation."
For its part, the Hebrew newspaper Israel Hayom said that yesterday's attack broke 3 weeks of the relative decrease in the number of attacks in the West Bank, noting that the attack took place despite the high security vigilance among the security establishment, which maintained this vigilance despite the recent decrease in the frequency of attacks.
The newspaper believed that the availability of large quantities of weapons in the West Bank cannot be described, and that any Palestinian who wants to obtain a rifle or pistol does not make much effort, and there are elements who are happy with that and give him weapons to carry out the attack, and therefore when he puts his hand on the weapon and decides for himself when he will carry out the attack. , it is very difficult to prevent, especially if a passing vehicle is shot and the attack is carried out in a few seconds.
The newspaper believes that the settlers' criticism of the Israeli army is misplaced, especially since the site of the attack has not been inhabited for many years, and even if the soldiers were at the point near it, they would not have prevented the attack, but they might be able to neutralize the attackers.
She pointed out that there are fears of inspiring attacks after the successful attack yesterday, and if the attacks are repeated, this may drag the Israeli government into a large-scale military operation, despite calls to start it immediately so as not to pay a higher price.
The newspaper indicates that the security establishment has not yet taken a decision regarding the policy followed in the West Bank, and therefore it is expected that the current operations will continue with the nightly storming of Palestinian cities to arrest wanted persons and confiscate weapons.
And she indicated that there will be a particularly high state of vigilance in the coming days, because the Israeli security establishment believes that yesterday's attack may lead to more inspiring attacks, and that the ability to calm the volatile region for more than a year is very low, especially in light of the weakness of the Palestinian Authority's rule.
