Gaza - Ahmed Al-Masharawi and Al-Quds Sports Correspondent - The Palestinian Olympic Committee organized the activities of the Integrated Olympic Day entitled "Gaza Olympic Day", within the "Tamkeen 3" project, in partnership and cooperation with the United Nations Development Program in Gaza "UNDP", funded by the Japanese government, at the historic Yarmouk stadium, in the presence of Jamal Al-Saadouni, member of the Executive Office of the Olympic Committee, Alaa Al-Hasani, representative of the United Nations Program, Iyad Shaheen, director of the Tamkeen project, and a large crowd of officials of the Olympic sports federations, sports personalities, and a large number of athletes, fans, and game lovers.


Lighting the torch

The activities of the Olympic Day started early with the preparation of the stadium arenas and its track, the arrival of the delegations of the sports federations participating in the various shows, the preparation of the show rehearsals, the official ceremony, and the entry of the Scouts, followed by the entry of the participants in the form of locomotives towards the designated track, and lining up inside the stadium.

The host of the media ceremony, Mustafa Jabr, started the events by welcoming the participants and the audience, then playing the Palestinian national anthem, followed by lighting the Olympic flame on the Olympic day, in which all countries of the world celebrate the launch of the Olympic movement since ancient times, and this day has become an annual tradition recognized to this day.


Entering the queues of delegates

After the inauguration, the delegations of federations, games and various sports entered in organized queues successively, accompanied by their coaches and supervisors, namely: federations of athletics, bicycles, karate, judo, taekwondo, chess, weightlifting, gymnastics, arm wrestling, kung fu, sports for all, boxing, jujitsu, Baseball, Techball, in addition to the Scouts and Guides Association, and the Modern School of Distinguished, then a series of interesting artistic performances were launched for cyclists, and they presented an artistic presentation for athletics runners, and 7 combat sports federations and self-defense games presented beautiful sports performances that were distributed simultaneously Around the stadium, it was followed by a series of performances and technical meetings for about 6 other federations: weightlifting, arm wrestling, chess, baseball, sports for all, and tickball.


Closing ceremony

At the closing ceremony, Al-Saadouni delivered the central speech, during which he conveyed the greetings of Lieutenant General Jibril Rajoub, Chairman of the Olympic Committee, and members of its executive office to all participants, and expressed his happiness with the implementation of the Olympic Day activities, and the participation of this large number of federations and players in it, explaining that the organization of the full Olympic Day represents an implementation And in compliance with the recognized international Olympic charters, and a complete similar simulation for the implementation of an integrated Olympic cycle, the United Nations Program thanked the sponsor, the Japanese government for its generous support to our Palestinian people, the municipality of Gaza, the management of the Yarmouk stadium, the sports federations, the participating players, and the sports media for covering it, the scouts, the guides, and the organizing committee. Shaheen confirmed that the Olympic Committee worked hard to organize this day to express the status of the sport, and Majed Abu Marahel, the Palestinian Olympic sprinter, expressed his pride for the wide participation of the athletes.


It is noteworthy that the organizing committee included Iyad Shaheen, Atef Matar, Raed Al-Ajouri, Muhammad Hajjaj, Maher Shehadeh, Hassan Al-Rai, Majid Abu Marahil, Ahmed Al-Durra, Saeed Al-Kilani, Wael Al-Tahan, Bashar Musa, Mahmoud Tamraz, Muhammad Abu Tair, Rashid Al-Masry, Muhammad Ashour, and in conclusion, the sports federations, participating parties and partners, and members of the Organizing Committee were honored, and shields were presented.


Haniyeh declares mourning for the victims of the fire

On the other hand, Abdel Salam Haniyeh, Assistant Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, announced mourning in stadiums and halls and the freezing of sports activity in all its forms in solidarity with the families and relatives of the martyrs of the fire, which resulted Thursday evening in the death of more than 21 martyrs, including children and women from the Abu Raya family in Jabalia. Haniyeh conveyed the condolences and solidarity of the sports family in this great injury, which bloodied the hearts of all.


The Football Association stands in solidarity

In turn, the Football Association expressed its solidarity with the families of the victims in northern Gaza, and decided to postpone the tenth last round of the first-leg round in the Premier League and the first division, which was scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and to postpone the matches to a later date. Sports clubs and federations declared public mourning to stop their activities throughout the mourning period for the wide participation in the funeral of the bodies of the martyrs.

In turn, the Qatari Reconstruction Committee decided to cancel the event of the march, which was scheduled to start on Friday afternoon from the Gaza port to the headquarters of the committee on the seashore, in the presence of sports elites and youth personalities, in solidarity with the families of the martyrs, while a video of solidarity from athletes and activists with the people of the Gaza Strip was broadcast from Qatar. .


Two players for the Olympic team

The two players, Ibrahim Abu Omair, defender of Rafah Services, and Ahmed Kullab, midfielder of Ittihad Club in Khan Yunis, accompanied by coach Hani Al-Masdar, left the Gaza Strip via Cairo International Airport to the State of Kuwait to join the delegation of the Olympic Fida’i, who will play two friendly matches against the Kuwait national team on the 19th and 23rd of this month, in preparation for the upcoming matches. . The coaching staff of the Olympic team had decided to summon Abu Omair and Kullab to participate in the two matches as part of the preparations for the qualifiers for the AFC U-23 Cup, and the importance of the duo’s presence in light of their distinguished appearance during the two camps that were held in Algeria and Tunisia at the beginning of this year, in addition to their regular participation with their teams in the league. New Appeals Committee

The Football Association in the Gaza Strip approved the Appeal Committee, headed by Counselor Muhammad Al-Najjar, and it will include Sherif Odeh, Secretary of the Committee, Mahmoud Al-Talaa, Imad Al-Bayouk, and Basil Al-Rifi. The committee will hold a second meeting chaired by Dr. Al-Najjar, to discuss the case of player Muhammad Abu Riyala, who applied to free him from the restrictions of Al-Radwan Club. The decisions of the Appeals Committee are binding on all, and no one has the right to object to them.


Preparations for the Qatar World Cup
