Launching the activities of the National Olympic Week

Today, Saturday, the Palestinian Olympic Committee launched the activities of the National Olympic Week in Palestine and the diaspora.


The launch ceremony was attended by the Governor of Ramallah and Al-Bireh, Laila Ghannam, the Secretary-General of the Palestinian Olympic Committee, Abdul Majeed Hajjah, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, Nafeh Assaf.


The ceremony included lighting the torch of the Olympic week and the sports and scouts march, coinciding with lighting it in the house of martyr President Yasser Arafat in Gaza, in addition to a festival of combat games: judo, aikido, taekwondo, karate, kung fu, muay thai, kickboxing, and jujitsu, in addition to a show. Gymnastics and the opening of the basketball championship for girls.


Ghannam greeted the President of the Palestinian Olympic Committee, Lieutenant General Jibril Rajoub, and the supporters and partners for their efforts to hold the National Olympic Week, hoping that it would be a week full of positive sports energy, and that the next Olympic week would be on the land of Jerusalem, the capital of the State of Palestine.


In turn, Hajjah said that the National Olympic Week brings together all age groups, from children to young men and women, saluting the sponsors who support the activities of the Olympic Week, especially Jawwal, who have proven to be a national partner in supporting Palestinian sports in all forums.


He added that the activities of the National Week are held simultaneously in the two parts of the homeland and in the diaspora camps in Lebanon and in the United States during the coming days, in order to enhance the national unity of the Palestinian sports movement, stressing that it is a national message derived from the covenant, promise and commandments of the martyrs.
