US Representative: Israel is a racist state and the two-state solution is not possible

US Representative Pramila Jayapal described Israel as a racist state, stressing the existence of organized opposition against progressive critics of Israeli policies towards the Palestinians.

“As someone who has taken to the streets and participated in a lot of demonstrations, I want you to know that we struggle to make it clear that Israel is an apartheid state, that the Palestinian people deserve self-determination and independence, and that the dream of a two-state solution is He turns away from us and becomes unattainable."

Jayapal has long criticized Israel's annexation of West Bank lands, and called on Congress to make military aid to Israel conditional if it continues to use American taxpayers' money to violate human rights in Palestine.

Jayapal said in previous statements to her: "We have to demand that Israel end these actions immediately and move away from annexation and move towards the two-state solution again, which is a solution that frankly many people lose confidence in because of the actions of Israel that they see. That is why it is very important for us that We talk quickly and immediately, which is why I've seen the members of the Progressive Caucus talk so loudly about it."

The US representative's statements come in conjunction with similar statements by Democratic representatives, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Jamal Bowman, and Corey Bush, all of whom confirmed that they would not attend Herzog's speech in protest against the Israeli measures. The Democratic Party leadership has tried to downplay the boycott, claiming that it does not reflect bipartisan support for Israel, while the Republican Party has condemned the calls as anti-Semitic.
