Israeli destroys property, infrastructure in Jenin invasion
The Palestinian National Economy Ministry said on Tuesday that Israeli troops have deliberately targeted infrastructure and property in Jenin, and is costing the already-struggling governorate millions of dollars.
The economic directorate in Jenin reported that the occupation forces destroyed the main lines of the water and electricity networks, especially in Jenin refugee camp, as well as bulldozing roads and agricultural lands. They also downed several homes during the operation.
Alongside disruption to 14,000 businesses, Jenin Governorate loses more than $8 million a week during Israel's aggression.
The ministry indicated that many Palestinians were unable to reach their workplaces as a result of intensified restrictions on freedom of movement, while the industrial, commercial and services sectors in the city ground to a halt.
Jenin's economy is particularly reliant on Palestinian citizens of Israel, who are currently unable to enter due to the closure of the Jalameh checkpoint.
The ministry called on the international community to work to stop the aggression against the Palestinian people and their economy.
