Al-Osaili reveals the truth about the bankruptcy of the Palestinian Authority
Today, Sunday evening, Minister of Economy Khaled Al-Osaili revealed the truth about the news being circulated about the bankruptcy of the Palestinian Authority.
In an interview with Al-Mashhad channel, Osaily stressed that the process of the collapse of the Palestinian Authority is out of the question at all.
He said, "Some Israelis want the authority to remain, and they are the center and the left, while the extreme right does not say that," pointing out that the Israeli interventions and control over about 65% of the Palestinian territories, which are the areas called (C).
Osaily added, "The losses of the Palestinian people due to not exploiting this area are about $50 billion, from 2000 to 2020."
He continued, "If the Palestinian side was allowed to invest in Areas (C), Palestine would have been a donor country."
Osaily confirmed that Israel's profits from exporting dates from the Jordan Valley amount to one billion dollars annually, while Israel's income from investment in Area C amounts to 41 billion dollars annually.
Osaily indicated that the departure tax through the Karama crossing was raised to 167 shekels at the beginning of this year, 50% of which is paid to the Palestinian Authority, according to the Paris Economic Protocol, explaining that when it was 26 dollars, 13 dollars were given to the authority, and today, after it reached 52 dollars, he is still paying The Palestinian side gets 12 dollars, pointing out that the Palestinian side wants about one billion shekels as dues from the departure tax.
He explained that the income of the Palestinian Authority is supposed to come from three sources, which are internal revenues, clearance and foreign aid.
Osaily noted that in addition to Israel deducting 3% of the clearance, Israel deducts approximately 260 million shekels (approximately $70 million per month) at a monthly rate, under the pretext that 100 million of them pay salaries to Palestinian martyrs and prisoners and the wounded, and the rest is stolen under other pretexts without elaboration.
Regarding foreign aid, Al-Osaili said, "Since 2019 until today, there is a boycott as a result of the Palestinian political position in rejecting the former US president's initiative regarding the deal of the century (..) pointing out that in the year 2022 the Palestinian side received aid worth $345 million, $54 million Dollars from Algeria, 125 from the European Union and 43 million from the World Bank.
