Jenin camp and ambushes... an endless battle with the occupation
Jenin camp in the northern West Bank, especially since the famous battle of April 2002, is still characterized by its fierce resistance to the Israeli occupation forces, through ambushes and intense clashes.
The resistance in Jenin and its camp, with all its formations, put the Israeli political and military level in a state of shock, recently, after the violent resistance it showed after it trapped the occupation army in a tight ambush, which lasted for 8 hours, after detonating a locally manufactured explosive device in the modern “Fahd” vehicle. Signed injuries and damages.
This operation brought back many pictures and stories for the residents of Jenin camp, about previous ambushes that caused casualties among the occupation soldiers, especially in the Battle of April, in which 23 Israeli soldiers were killed.
The scene today is no different from the events of that battle that took place 21 years ago, which began after the occupation failed to abort the second intifada, so that Ariel Sharon sent his soldiers and selected units in Operation Defensive Wall, which targeted the West Bank, and the Jenin camp was its spearhead, but Those units that Sharon replaced 6 times, as the liberated prisoner Mahmoud Al-Saadi, who participated in the fighting and the battle until he was arrested, narrates, faced fierce and violent resistance by the joint operations room that united the resistance factions in the camp, to confront the aggression on the field with heroism, ferocity, daring and courage despite the bombing and destruction And the assassinations that started from the first moment.
Al-Saadi, who was one of the leaders of the Al-Quds Brigades in the battle, and whose family offered many martyrs, believes that despite the occupation committing a massacre in the camp after its destruction and the arrest and assassination of leaders and resistance fighters, it was unable to pass its plans and achieve its goals, indicating that the resistance quickly regained its breath and returned to the arena of confrontation and did not stop Operations and a new chapter in the series of resistance has begun. It went through many stages, but it has now reached a stage that turned the scales and returned the camp to the spearhead in confronting the occupation.
As for the liberated prisoner Jamal Hawail, who fought in the battle of the camp and was one of its leaders and founders of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, he expressed his conviction that the recent ambush, which caused a global uproar, proved that the resistance is strong and capable of planning, surprising and luring the occupation.
Hawil asserts that the current stage is going through a different and distinct turning point in the path of resistance and militant action on the land of the camp, which is characterized by the unity of its resistance, the closeness of its ranks, and the insistence on joint fighting with limited and modest capabilities, without diminishing its success and its ability to deal a strong blow after it destroyed the legend of the Israeli "Cheetah" mechanism.
During the recent operation in the Jabriyat neighborhood overlooking the Jenin camp, the occupation forces used large military measures, as has been the norm in the past two years, to try to arrest whoever was believed to be the perpetrator of the recent "Harmish" operation in which a settler was killed, but this force was quickly besieged, after He revealed the infiltration of special units into the area, before violent clashes broke out and explosive devices were used, to start a new confrontation, the extent of which no one expected and what the resistance was preparing at the time.
An eyewitness told Al-Quds.com: "Soon the scene turned, after a loud explosion shook Jenin and reached the nearby neighborhoods. It became clear that the Al-Fahd armored vehicle had fallen into a tight ambush that damaged it and wounded 7 soldiers inside, but the scene did not end at that moment. In the aftermath of what happened, the resistance groups besieged the occupation soldiers, which increased the situation in tension and confusion, especially after the new force that rushed to the aid of the besieged was ambushed, and became trapped between bullets and dozens of local explosives, which forced the occupation to send planes and reinforcements towards the small neighborhood in Jabriyat. ".
It took about 9 hours for the process of evacuating the wounded soldiers and the seven damaged vehicles, which is the same period and more that the occupation needed on the ninth day of the Battle of Jenin camp, to evacuate its soldiers who were killed during the 13th ambush in the Hawashin neighborhood in the center of the camp, in which a number of resistance fighters participated, and the witness recounts Abu Nidal told Al-Quds.com: “On that day, a group of resistance fighters, including Nidal al-Nubani and the two brothers Amjad and Muhammad al-Fayed, stationed themselves in one of the alleys, and set up a triple ambush through which they were able to lure a force from the occupation army towards the neighborhood until they fell into the ambush, and al-Joud was besieged. Between bullets and explosives until they were all killed, forcing the occupation to send another force that clashed with the resistance fighters until the Nubani and the two Al-Fayed brothers were martyred. The number of occupation soldiers who wore them and were killed in the process.
Representative Jamal Huwail, the living witness to the battle, who was arrested on the last day of it, and spent several years in the occupation prisons. He mentions that the unified resistance in the camp planned from the beginning to ambushes and kidnap soldiers in order to exchange them for prisoners and to stand firm in the face of the occupation and protect the camp, and it is believed that one of the most important other ambushes is the evacuation Martyr Mahmoud Tawalbeh to his family's house and booby-trapped it completely, and when the soldiers approached it, it was detonated, before the soldiers who fled were clashed, which led to deaths and injuries among them.
The ambushes confused the calculations of the occupation, especially in light of the huge human losses among the soldiers, which prompted the occupation to change army units, bomb the camp, and send huge American bulldozers that participated in the destruction and massacre, after several ambushes.
