Israel targets a site of the international emergency forces in southern Lebanon

Today, Friday, the Israeli occupation artillery shelled the main entrance to the UNIFIL command center in the town of Naqoura, south of Lebanon, causing damage at the entrance.

The occupation artillery bombed one of the UNIFIL towers on the main road linking Tyre to Naqoura in front of the Lebanese army checkpoint, which led to the injury of soldiers from the Sri Lankan battalion.

The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the systematic targeting by the Israeli occupation army of the United Nations forces operating in Lebanon and its bombing of the headquarters of the Sri Lankan battalion.

It considered that the repeated Israeli attacks on these forces and the illegal demand that they evacuate their positions in southern Lebanon contrary to their mandate as determined by the Security Council, constitute a dangerous precedent, and confirm once again Israel’s violation of international legitimacy and its failure to comply with international laws and charters and international humanitarian law, and may constitute a war crime, in addition to its flagrant and ongoing violation of UN Security Council Resolution No. 1701.

The Lebanese Foreign Ministry called on the Security Council, the international community and the countries contributing to the UNIFIL mission to call for an investigation into the matter and to take a firm and strict stance against these attacks and strongly condemn them, because failure to deter Israel and put an end to its violations will allow it to continue its attacks on UNIFIL and will send a wrong message that could have serious consequences for the UN peacekeeping missions around the world and for the safety of its personnel and property.

The Israeli aggression on Lebanon continues, leaving dozens of martyrs and wounded, amid widespread destruction of buildings, facilities and infrastructure.

The occupation aircraft and artillery targeted the towns of: Khiyam, Barashit, Shaqra, Zrarieh, Naqoura, Alma al-Shaab, Qana, Mahrouna, Jibshit, Shebaa, Burj Qalawieh, Zebqin, Boudai, Kfar Tibnit, Blat, and Tyre Harfa in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa.

Yesterday evening, Thursday, the occupation aircraft launched raids on two buildings in the center of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, which resulted in the martyrdom of 22 people and the injury of 117 others, in an incomplete toll.
