Thai police rescue a woman who was stuck in the bathroom for three days
BANGKOK - (AFP) - Thai police have rescued a woman residing in the capital, Bangkok, who was stuck for three days in the bathroom of her home, by removing the door, the authorities announced Friday.
The 54-year-old woman survived by drinking tap water.
Police said the woman feared for her life so much that she wrote her will on the walls of the cramped bathroom using cosmetics.
The victim was trapped on Monday evening in the bathroom of her home, where she lives alone, and it is possible that a panic attack contributed to the broken doorknob.
On Thursday, her sister reported to the police station in Bangkok's Phra Khanong district that she had lost contact with her.
"Her sister could not contact her for three days, so she asked the police for help to go see (the victim) as the front doors were locked from the inside," Phra Khanong Police Captain Chanchai Sunsiang told AFP.
The police captain pointed out that the victim is in fairly good condition and did not have to go to the hospital for check-ups.
