Arab Parliament condemns occupation's decision to seize UNRWA headquarters in Jerusalem
The Arab Parliament condemned the Israeli occupation's decision to seize the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in East Jerusalem and turn it into a colonial outpost, considering this decision a blatant violation of the rights of the Palestinian people and international organizations working to serve refugees, and a flagrant violation of international law and United Nations resolutions.
The Arab Parliament, in a statement issued today, Monday, called on the international community to intervene urgently to stop these ongoing violations against the Palestinian people and their institutions, and stressed the need to respect UNRWA and its vital role in providing humanitarian services to Palestinian refugees, considering that this escalation aims to liquidate the issue of Palestinian refugees and their right to return.
He also renewed his support for the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people to achieve their legitimate rights, most notably their right to self-determination, the right of return, and the establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Last Thursday, the occupation authorities announced the seizure of the land on which the UNRWA headquarters is located in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied East Jerusalem, and its transformation into a colonial outpost.
