Netanyahu expresses his surprise and disappointment at the Biden administration’s announcement that it does not support the punishment of the International Criminal Court

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he was surprised that the White House would not support imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court seeking to issue an arrest warrant against him.

Hebrew Channel 13 said that the Prime Minister expressed, during an interview with the "Morgan Ortagus Show" program, which will be broadcast in full in the United States on Sunday, his "surprise and disappointment" that the Biden administration might oppose imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court, in response to... He requested the issuance of arrest warrants against him and Defense Minister Yoav Galant.

Netanyahu's statements come against the backdrop of the White House's announcement on Wednesday that it will not support the efforts of Republicans in Congress to advance sanctions against the Hague Court, in a position contrary to what Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced last week, who described the decision of the prosecutor in The Hague as "completely wrong" and announced that the White House will act With Congress to strengthen sanctions.

Netanyahu said in an interview with Ortagus, the former Foreign Ministry spokeswoman during the Trump administration, that “the United States announced that it would support the proposal to impose sanctions.”

He added: "I thought this was still the American position, because there was a bipartisan consensus on this issue just a few days ago...and now there is a question mark over the matter, and frankly I am surprised and disappointed."

The Prime Minister defended himself against the accusations leveled against him regarding preventing the entry of aid into Gaza and the Israeli army targeting civilians in the Strip.

The Politico website noted that Netanyahu's words are "an additional indication of the deepening gap between the leaders of both Israel and the United States."

The American website stated that it obtained an excerpt from Netanyahu's statements in which he expressed his disappointment with the American announcement.
