AFC Champions League: Al-Hilal tied at home to Urawa in the first leg of the final, and Al-Dosari lost in the second leg

Al-Hilal Saudi Arabia, the defending champion, settled for a 1-1 positive draw with its guest, Urawa Red Diamonds, Japan, in the first leg of the AFC Champions League final, Saturday, at King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, and received a painful blow by expelling its top scorer, Salem Al-Dosari, who will miss the return match in Saitama on May 6. next May.

Al-Dosari opened the scoring for the hosts (13), while Shinzo Koroki equalized for the guests (53), before the winger was sent off four minutes before the end for violent behavior after Kane kicked Iwa after he was knocked down by the latter (86).

Al-Dossary's absence will be a strong blow to Al-Hilal, who holds the record number of titles (4) and is looking to consolidate his power, while Urawa wants a third title after 2007 and 2017.

More than a year after its launch, the final match of the 2022 edition was finally held. Urawa booked the final ticket about nine months ago, while the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and the complications resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic contributed to the holding of the final round more than a year after the start of the tournament. continental.

Al Hilal coach Ramon Dias said after the match, "Al Hilal made a good start, but in the final matches, any mistake complicates matters. The match was strong, and Al Hilal is able to win in Japan, as things are not completely over."

He continued, "We were the best in most of the match, but it appeared that the players had to rush and rush in order to score goals, and some factors affected the match, such as the expulsion that Salem Al-Dosari was subjected to, but another half remains in Japan, and we hope the fans will support and not lose hope."

In turn, Al Hilal's Brazilian defender, Michael Delgado, said, "It is unfortunate that Salem Al-Dosari got a red card. The team fought to win and we tried to score goals, but we did not succeed. There is still a second half in Japan."

Al-Hilal demonstrated its ability to compete continentally and even internationally, after finishing runner-up to Spanish Real Madrid (3-5) in the Club World Cup final last February, when it defeated Brazilian Flamengo, the South American champion.

Al-Zaeem opened the scoring after Michael Delgado crossed a cross from the right, past all the players in front of the goal, and the goalkeeper failed to catch it, reaching Al-Dosari towards the second post, followed by a missile into the net (13), scoring his seventeenth goal in the AFC Champions League.

The two teams did not pose a significant danger in the first half, and the only other attempt at the goal was through a header by the Norwegian Marius Huybraten, Urawa defender, which was blocked by goalkeeper Abdullah Al-Mayouf (43).

The guests equalized early in the second half with a gift from the hosts, as the defender, returning from injury, Ali Al-Bulayhi, tried to cut a ball in the depths directed at Koroki. (53).

And there was a clear opportunity for Mali Musa Mariga to give Al-Hilal the lead when he hit a ball from the right side inside the area, which passed very close to the right post (66).

Al-Dosari was sent off before the end of the match after he kicked Ken Iwa with his leg in response to being knocked to the ground by the latter, amid the disappointment of the hosts.

This is the third final between Al-Hilal and Urawa within six years. The Japanese team won in 2017 (1-1 and 1-0) when Dias was coach of Al-Hilal in his first term, then the Saudi team returned the debt in the 2019 final (1-0 and 2-0) when He won his third title before adding the fourth in 2021 at the expense of South Korean Pohang Steels 2-0.

This is the last edition of the Champions League in its current system, before the 2023-2024 season switched to “European time”, so that the competitions would start in August before concluding in May of the following year.

England Championship: Palace decides its survival to a large extent with a thrilling victory over West Ham and the Brighton review

Crystal Palace largely decided its survival in the English Premier League with a fourth victory in April under the leadership of its new-old coach Roy Hodgson, and came at the expense of its guest and injured neighbor, West Ham, with a dramatic score of 4-3 on Saturday in the thirty-fourth stage.

Hodgson's team raised its score to 40 points in eleventh place temporarily, 11 points ahead of Leicester XVIII, which meets on Monday with Everton, while West Ham remained at the center of the struggle for survival after its balance froze at 34 in fifteenth place, with its seventeenth defeat of the season.

What makes the task of the Scottish coach David Moyes more difficult is that he will face the two neighbors, Manchester City, the defending champions, the second in the standings, and Manchester United, the fourth, next Wednesday and Sunday.

And after falling behind in the 9th minute with a goal by the Czech Tomas Sochik, Palace responded with three goals for Ghanaian Jordan Ayew (15), Ivorian Wilfried Zaha (20) and the other Ghanaian Jeffrey Schlupp (30), but the guests narrowed the difference through Jamaican Michael Antonio (35), to end the first half with a lead. In the second half, Palace widened the gap again thanks to a penalty kick executed by Iberici Ezeh (66), before Moroccan Nayef Akrad narrowed the gap again (72), without that being enough to deny Palace a fourth victory since Hodgson returned to take over the team on March 21. He succeeded the French Patrice Evra.

And after the disappointment of exiting the cup semi-finals at the hands of Manchester United by penalty kicks, and then the frustrating loss to Nottingham Forest 1-3 in the last stage, Brighton poured out his anger on his guest, Wolverhampton, and swept him 6-0 in the duels with distinction, as both Germans scored Deniz Ondav ( 6 and 66), Pascal Gross (13 and 26) and Danny Welbeck (39 and 48) scored two goals.

Brighton scored four goals in the first half for the first time since February 2016 against Leeds in the second level league, according to “Opta” statistics, while Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi’s team became the fifth team with a double of three players in one match in the history of the Premier League.

Brighton hopes that this victory will give him the moral impetus to achieve his revenge on Manchester United when he hosts him Thursday with the ambition of continental participation next season, as he raised his score to 52 points in eighth place, only two points behind Tottenham Fifth, with two matches less than the last, who plays Sunday with his host Liverpool. Seventh (53 points).

Brighton remained two points ahead of Brentford after the latter's exciting victory over its guest Nottingham Forest, who is struggling to avoid relegation 2-1 in the fatal time, after it was lagging behind with the goal of Brazilian Danilo (1 + 45) before responding late with two goals from Evan Toni (82). AC Milan and Rome remained at the same distance in the struggle to qualify for the European Football Champions League, with their exciting 1-1 draw at the Olympic Stadium in the capital, Saturday, in the thirty-second stage of the Italian Football League.

While the match was taking its last breath, England's Tammy Abraham scored what seemed to be the deadly winning goal for Roma in the 90 + 4 minute from the first shot on goal in the meeting by the two teams.

But Belgian substitute Alexis Salimakers snatched the equalizer for Milan in the 90 + 7 minute with his team's first shot on goal, after he followed a long cross that Portuguese Rafael Leao executed towards the second post.

Milan remained in fourth place, with 57 points, ahead of Roma, fifth, on goal difference, as they are equal in the two direct confrontations (2-2 and 1-1) and have the same goal difference (+14).

Atalanta took full advantage of this draw by achieving a fatal victory at its host Turin 2-1, to advance to sixth place and become two points away from them.

The Bergamo team advanced through Davide Zappacosta (34) and the hosts equalized through the Paraguayan Antonio Sanabria (75), before the Colombian substitute Duvan Sabata snatched the victory for the guests (88).

The opportunity will be available for Inter VII (54 points) to snatch fourth place, by goal difference from Rome and Milan, in the event of its victory over its second guest, Lazio, on Sunday, a match that will constitute an opportunity for Napoli to be crowned champion for the first time since 1990 in the event of its victory over Salernitana in exchange for a draw or the fall of Lazio.

Roma coach Jose Mourinho said after the match, "We are not a rich team, we do not have a large squad, every time we lose a player it is a big problem. Of course I am sad because the three points were in our hands, but my pride is greater than my sadness."

The capital team suffers from injuries with the absence of English defenders Chris Smalling, Spaniard Diego Llorente and Dutchman Rick Karsdorp, and the latter's citizen, midfielder Georginho Wijnaldum, was absent, while Argentine star Paulo Dybala remained on the bench for not fully recovering.

After a quarter of an hour, Roma lost the efforts of its Albanian defender Marash Kumbola, and Stephen El Shaarawy entered at the start of the second half instead of Andrea Belotti, who was injured in the ribs after a collision with Milan's English defender Fikayo Tomori, who was knocked out in turn.

Toulouse ended a 66-year drought for titles by crowning the French Cup champion, Saturday, at the expense of defending champion Nantes, with a sweeping score of 5-1, at the Stade de France stadium in the suburbs of the capital, Paris.

This is only the second title in the history of Toulouse at all, especially since it also won the Cup title in 1957 at the expense of Angers.
Logan Costa from Cape Verde (4 and 10) and Dutchman Tess Dallinga (23 and 31) scored twice in the first half, so the southern team won the title early in front of French President Emmanuel Macron and 78,000 spectators.

Ludovic Blas narrowed the deficit in the second half from a penalty kick (75), before Moroccan Zakaria Abu Khal quickly restored the four-goal difference (79).

This is the biggest difference in a French Cup final since Saint-Etienne won against Nantes also in 1970 (5-0).

Last year, Nantes ended a drought for titles that had lasted since winning the domestic league title in 2001, by defeating Nice 1-0 in the final. He was aspiring for his fifth title in the cup competition, which he also won in 1979, 1999 and 2000.

Costa opened the scoring with a header after a corner by Dutchman Branko van den Bomen (4), and added the second with a header also with a cross from the latter's citizen, Stein Springs, who reached the ball after a wrong distraction from the defense for a free kick (10).

Dalinga scored the third goal after he hit a wonderful curling ball on the right corridor from a distance from Chilean Gabriel Suasso into the area and followed it into the net (23), and added the fourth after the goalkeeper blocked the Algerian Faris Al-Shaabi’s shot to prepare in front of the Dutchman, who followed it into the goal (31).

This is Dallinga's fourteenth goal with Toulouse this season.

Qatar Championship: Al-Duhail takes advantage of Al-Arabi's fall to get close to winning the title

Al-Duhail came close to winning the Qatari Football League title after defeating Umm Salal 2-1 on Saturday in the twentieth stage, taking advantage of the sudden fall of its Al-Arabi chaser in front of Al-Wakra 1-2.

Al-Duhail increased its tally to 48 points, moving away from the lead by five points from Al-Arabi, so that it needs a victory from its last two matches to regain the title that it relinquished in the past two editions in favor of rivals Al-Sadd.

Umm Salal's balance froze at 16 points in the penultimate position leading to the relegation supplement, amid a threat to fall to the last position leading directly to the second division, after Al-Sailiya, bottom of the standings, reduced the difference to three points after its 4-0 victory over Al-Ahly on Saturday.

Al-Duhail owes its victory to its Kenyan striker Michael Olunga, who scored both goals (45 + 3 from a penalty kick and 64).

Argentine coach Hernán Crespo's team waited until the last minutes of the first half to end Umm Salal's stubbornness, when Tunisian Ferjani Sassi won a penalty kick after being blocked by Moroccan Adel Rahili. He needed confirmation of the intervention of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technique before Olonga executed it. Successfully in overtime (45+3).

The team of Moroccan coach Talal Al-Qarqarawi refused to leave the first session late, so Adel Al-Rahili made up for the mistake, scoring the equalizing goal after a header from a corner ball (45 + 5), however, Olonga came back and gave his team the valuable victory goal in the second half, taking advantage of Al-Moez Ali’s rebound shot from the goalkeeper and returned it. to the net (64).

Al-Arabi missed the opportunity to stay close to Al-Duhail until the last meter when he fell in front of Al-Wakra 1-2, which complicated the task of returning to the podium after an absence of nearly 25 years.

On the other hand, the team of the Spanish coach, Tintin Marques, regained the fourth place, which he relinquished in the last stage, in favor of Al-Gharafa, after raising its score to 33 points.

Al-Wakra advanced through Youssef Abdel-Razzaq, who took advantage of Hazem Shehadeh's shot, returning from goalkeeper Jassim Al-Hail, and deposited it in the net (34), before Al-Arabi equalized from a penalty kick caused by Brazilian defender Lucas Mendes for touching the ball inside the area, and it was executed by the Syrian Omar Al-Soma (82).

However, substitute Mohamed Khaled snatched the precious winning goal for Al-Wakra in stoppage time after a powerful shot from inside the area (90 + 1).

In a third match, Al-Sailiya revived its hopes of avoiding direct relegation to the second division after its broad victory over Al-Ahly 4-0, raising its score to 13 points and maintaining the chances of entering the play-off after it became only three points away from Umm Salal penultimate.
For his part, the “Brigadier General” received the fifth loss in a row, to freeze his balance at point 21 in eighth place.

Al-Sailiya advanced through Argentine defender Sergio Javier Vitor (34), before benefiting from a numerical shortage in the ranks of Al-Ahly after the expulsion of Jordanian Yazan Al-Naimat with the second yellow card (59), to add the Swedish Carlos Strandberg second (61) and third (86), then substitute Hassan Blink fourth ( 90).

New laws targeting Palestinians in front of the Israeli Knesset

Today, Sunday, Israeli Knesset member Sharn Haskel is expected to present a number of bills that aim to challenge the government coalition, for discussion in the Ministerial Committee for Legislative Affairs, which will meet this afternoon.

According to the Hebrew Maariv newspaper, Haskel will present two proposals, one of which stipulates that anyone who has served 75% of his military service as a soldier will be able to carry a weapon for self-defense in light of the recent Palestinian attacks, and the other is to add the families of Israelis killed in operations as a party to the “legal” procedures. taken against the perpetrators of those operations.

According to the newspaper, Haskel will try to reduce the standards currently in place for carrying weapons for self-defense, noting that the MK pointed out the success of many former soldiers in neutralizing many Palestinians and thwarting attacks, which enables them to quickly thwart potential attacks.

Haskel aims from the second law to allow the families of the dead Israelis to be a party in the court against the perpetrators of the attacks, and to express their demands during the hearings before the verdict is pronounced.

Today, the Israeli Knesset will return to its full activities, with the opening of the first plenary session of the summer session tomorrow.

Israel Hume: New attempts at rapprochement between Saudi Arabia and Israel

The Hebrew newspaper Israel Hayom claimed, on Sunday, that there is cautious optimism in Israel regarding the possibility of success in new attempts at rapprochement with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

According to the Hebrew newspaper, the prominent Republican Senator, Bindsey Graham, is leading efforts to bridge the gap between the two sides, and he had visited Riyadh recently before heading to Tel Aviv.

It quoted US sources as saying that Saudi Arabia has 4 main demands that it presented to the United States, including the establishment of a defense alliance, the establishment of a nuclear reactor for civilian purposes, the improvement of joint trade, and an end to criticism against it over the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

A senior US official told the Hebrew newspaper that Washington is studying the demands presented by Saudi Arabia as a condition for progress towards normalization between Riyadh and Tel Aviv, and that this issue is expected to continue for several months to be decided by the US administration, which Graham announced his support for any step in this direction, although he belongs to to the rival party.

According to the newspaper, it is not known what is Tel Aviv's position on the Saudi request regarding the development of Saudi nuclear capabilities for civilian purposes, which is the most sensitive issue from its point of view.

The newspaper claims that the Palestinian issue, despite the kingdom's statements, was not included in Saudi Arabia's list of demands.

Haaretz: The number of people killed by crimes at home increased during the Ben Gvir era

On Sunday morning, the Hebrew newspaper Haaretz reported that the number of deaths due to crimes committed among Jews and Arabs increased in the first four months of 2023, after Itamar Ben Gvir became minister of the so-called “national security,” compared to the same period last year.

The number of crime deaths this year reached 78, compared to 34 in the same period last year.

According to the newspaper, this number recorded since the beginning of the year is the highest in several decades, and the total number by the end of the year may reach 230 victims.

It appears from the statistics that 60 Palestinians from inside the country have been killed since the beginning of this year, compared to 26 from the same period last year, while 16 Jews and 8 of different foreign nationalities were killed, and the number of women killed reached 11, of whom 9 were due to domestic violence, compared to five in the previous year. same period last year.

According to the Hebrew newspaper, the mystery of only 3 murders committed among the Palestinians inside Israel has been solved, noting that most of the murders were committed against people known to the Israeli police, which indicates the strengthening of the operations of criminal organizations among the Arab community.

In the northern region, 19 people were killed, compared to 23 in the whole of last year, while in the central region, 14 Arabs were killed, including 9 in Lydda alone.

The Israeli police justify the jump in the number of murders under the pretext of diverting most of its forces to deal with the recent wave of Palestinian attacks and marches against "judicial reforms".

An Israeli police officer told the Hebrew newspaper that this issue is not a priority for Ben Gvir, and he does not care much about it.

Ben Gvir refused to respond to what was stated in the report, as reported by "Haaretz".

The martyr Al-Sabah is in the arena of permanent confrontation, from captivity to martyrdom

The case of the young martyr, Mustafa Amer Al-Sabah, constitutes a new example of crimes committed against minors by the Israeli occupation army.

Al-Sabah, as described by many of his colleagues and family members, was endowed with sharp intelligence and patriotic positions adhering to the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and expressing them during his dialogue with them, and through what he was practicing in the field on the ground in terms of his constant confrontation with the occupation soldiers.

Certificate trail

And a video clip showed the martyr Mustafa answering a question to one of his friends, Where to go?, He replied saying to the path of martyrdom, while other clips showed his participation in confrontations with the occupation forces, in a way that has a lot of daring and arrogance.

And the mayor of Tuqu’, Musa al-Shaer, refers to the martyrdom of Mustafa Asr last Friday, indicating that he was in the front lines in the face of the army, with his face uncovered as every time, so the soldiers fired bullets at him, which led to his injury in the lungs, which caused him serious injuries, which was announced later. his martyrdom.

previous injuries

He was previously injured in the confrontations taking place in the town of Tuqu', especially in the vicinity of the ancient "Khirbet al-Deir", with rubber bullets more than once, and he was previously arrested three times despite his young age, and each time he spent months in prison on charges of participating in stone-throwing. Then he is released to return to prison or to face injury, before he rises as a martyr.

Big ambition

Many of Mustafa's friends say that he was young, but his ambition was great, and he was equating between confrontation with the occupation and confrontation in school seats to achieve his ambition to obtain a higher degree in the academic field, before he was hit by a treacherous bullet that put an end to all these ambitions.

"They are killing childhood and putting an end to its aspirations," said Sari, a friend of Mustafa's.

The news of martyrdom

The news of Mustafa's martyrdom fell on his family like a thunderbolt, especially since the family suffered and suffers from the smell of death, and lived in harsh conditions after the death of 5 of Mustafa's sisters and a brother of his with an incurable disease, which greatly burdened the family and deepened the wound with Mustafa's rise.

Tears do not stop

And his bereaved father, whose tears and his wife's tears did not stop since the moment of martyrdom, says that Mustafa was smart and had a wide and charming smile that he distributed to everyone who saw him and was ethical and committed to his studies and the teachings of his religion.

And the father talks about the last moments before his martyrdom: “I prayed the Friday prayer with him before his martyrdom, and he asked me for five shekels and then he went to meet his friends. Not long after, I received news that a boy was seriously injured, so I put my hand on my heart, so that the news of martyrdom spread, so that he would go and leave me alone.” Especially since my other son has been in prison for 14 months, and he is still detained awaiting trial, and he has a young daughter, no more than two years old.”

Shtayyeh stresses the importance of working to revive the Arab Peace Initiative

Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh stressed today (Saturday) the importance of working towards reviving the Arab peace initiative to end the Israeli occupation and establish a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

This came during his meeting in the city of Ramallah with a delegation from the World Federation of Socialist Youth, according to a statement issued by his office, a copy of which was received by Xinhua News Agency, where he briefed them on the developments of the Israeli situation and measures against the Palestinian people.

The World Federation of Socialist Youth was established in 1917 and is the largest youth organization on the global level. It includes more than 200 youth organizations from different countries of the world and represents more than 1.5 million young people.

Shtayyeh called on the union to carry out a worldwide movement to put pressure on Israel to abide by the agreements signed with it, and to hold elections in all Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem, for candidacy and elections.

He said, "Israel is waging several wars against us over geography, demography, money and the narrative, and by its occupation it aims to control all aspects of life in Palestine, especially killing, daily arrest and land seizure in favor of settlement expansion and control and theft of most of our water resources."

Shtayyeh praised the advocacy campaigns for "our Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of our people, the importance of the visits of international delegations to Palestine, and viewing the conditions on the ground to learn about the reality of the occupation and the suffering it causes to our people."

The Arab Peace Initiative was launched in 2002, after it was formulated by Saudi Arabia and adopted by the League of Arab States. It stipulates the establishment of normal relations with Israel after its withdrawal from the occupied Arab and Palestinian territories since 1967.

The Palestinians are calling for the achievement of an independent state alongside Israel on all the Palestinian lands that Israel occupied in 1967, including the entire West Bank and Gaza Strip, and that East Jerusalem be its capital.

In addition, the Palestine Liberation Organization warned of an Israeli plan to build a network of bypass roads in West Bank settlements as part of plans to "annex and perpetuate the apartheid regime."

A report issued by the organization's National Office for Defending Land and Resisting Settlement, a copy of which Xinhua received, said that the plan comes within the framework of the annexation plan for large parts of the West Bank when regional and international conditions permit.

Yesterday (Friday), the Hebrew Public Radio quoted the head of the Religious Zionist Party, the Minister of Finance and the one in charge of settlement in the Ministry of Defense, Bezalel Smotrich, as saying that the government intends to pay the largest possible number of random outposts that will be legalized in the West Bank.

Smotrich added, "We are working to spread electricity and street infrastructure, and together we will continue to settle youth settlements," noting that Israel "intends to develop settlements and bring another half a million residents to Judea and Samaria (the West Bank)."

The report indicated that the Israeli government allocated about four billion Israeli shekels (one US dollar equals about 3.6 shekels) for infrastructure projects and road development for settlements in the West Bank.

Israel occupied the West Bank in 1967 and established settlements on it, which are considered a violation of international law. Settlement is one of the most prominent files of the dispute between the Palestinians and Israel in light of the stalled peace negotiations between them since 2014.

The fighting in Sudan is entering its third week despite the declared truce

Khartoum witnessed air raids and gunfire on Saturday, while the evacuation of thousands of foreigners from Sudan continued, as the battles between the army and the Rapid Support Forces entered their third week, despite the declared armistice and international efforts to stop the fighting.

Sudan has plunged into chaos since the bloody struggle for power erupted in mid-April between army commander Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, nicknamed "Hemedti".

The war left at least 528 dead and 4,599 wounded, according to figures announced by the Ministry of Health on Saturday, but the toll is likely to be higher.

About 75,000 people have been displaced to neighboring countries, Egypt, Ethiopia, Chad and South Sudan, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, while foreign countries are organizing large-scale evacuations.

In this context, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, expressed his regret at the continuation of the fighting while “the country is collapsing,” according to what he said in a statement to the Saudi news channel, Al-Arabiya.

The two parties to the conflict exchange accusations of violating the armistice, which was extended for three days under international mediation, and ends Sunday at midnight (22:00 GMT).

Residents trying to flee or staying in their homes suffer comprehensive crises, with water and electricity cuts and food shortages.

"We woke up again to the sounds of warplanes and anti-aircraft guns all over the neighborhood," a resident of southern Khartoum told AFP.

Another witness confirmed that the fighting has been going on since dawn, especially around the headquarters of the public television channel in the suburb of Omdurman, north of Khartoum.

And the Sudanese Doctors Syndicate announced that 70% of the health facilities in the areas close to the fighting sites are out of service, and many of them are under bombardment.
The two warring generals exchanged accusations through the media on Friday.

On the American Al-Hurra channel, Al-Burhan described the RSF as a "militia that seeks to destroy Sudan," stressing the influx of "mercenaries" from Chad, the Central African Republic and Niger.

As for Daglo, for his part, he spoke on the "BBC" channel about his opponent, describing him as a "traitor," considering that he is "not trustworthy."

In 2021, Al-Burhan and Daglo overthrew their civilian partners, after sharing power with them since the fall of President Omar Al-Bashir in 2019.
However, differences soon emerged between them and escalated, the most prominent of which was the conditions for integrating the Rapid Support Forces into the army, before it developed into an armed conflict on April 15th.

Since then, evacuations have continued, and on Saturday, a ship carrying about 1,900 people of different nationalities arrived in Jeddah, in western Saudi Arabia. And Saudi Arabia announced that, in total, about 4,879 of its citizens and citizens of 96 other countries had been evacuated through the Kingdom.
Mehrdad Malekzadeh, 28, who grew up in Sudan, was one of the first Iranians to be evacuated on Saturday. In Jeddah, he described to AFP the daily shelling and explosions in Khartoum, saying, "We never imagined that the situation would become so tense."

The World Food Program expects millions more people to face hunger in one of the world's poorest countries, where nearly a third of Sudan's 45 million people needed food assistance before the war broke out.

In West Darfur, at least 96 people have been killed since Monday in El Geneina, according to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, which described the situation as "serious".

Looting, destruction and arson are increasing, including inside camps for the displaced, according to Doctors Without Borders, which was forced to "stop almost all of its work in West Darfur" because of the violence, according to the organization's deputy director in Sudan, Sylvain Peron.

In a statement, Peron warned that his organization is "very concerned about the impact of violence on those who have already suffered waves of violence."

The Darfur region witnessed a bloody war that began in 2003 between the Bashir regime and rebels belonging to ethnic minorities, killing 300,000 people and displacing 2.5 million others, according to the United Nations.

Saudi Arabia evacuates the first group of Iranians from Sudan to Jeddah

On Saturday, 65 Iranians among about 1,900 people who were evacuated from Sudan, which has been witnessing battles for two weeks, arrived on a Saudi ship to the city of Jeddah, and they are the first group of Iranians transferred by the Kingdom since the evacuation began.

Riyadh has organized several evacuations from Sudan, which have so far included about five thousand people, who are Saudis and citizens of more than 96 nationalities, according to the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The evacuation of the Iranians comes in the midst of the rapprochement between Riyadh and Tehran since the two most prominent regional powers announced an agreement to resume their relations on March 10, after a seven-year break.

Iranian diplomat Hassan Zarnarkar Abarqoi, who was receiving the Iranians at the King Faseel Naval Base in Jeddah, told AFP that the group of 65 Iranians was the "first" to be evacuated from Sudan.

For his part, Iranian Mehrdad Malekzadeh (28 years old), who was among the arrivals from Sudan, said, "Frankly, we never imagined that we would come to Saudi Arabia when we would be evacuated because of our nationality."

"Fortunately, they really helped us out, put their differences aside and worked together, they saved lives," added the young man, who has lived since his childhood in Khartoum, where his family ran a lubricating oils company.

Zarnarkar Abarquoi thanked Riyadh for its cooperation, considering it "an indication of consular cooperation between the two countries as well as humanitarian cooperation."

Battles broke out in Sudan on April 15 between the army, led by Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the Rapid Support Forces, led by Lieutenant General Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hamidti, who was an ally of al-Burhan and deputy commander of the army before they became rivals.

The fighting killed at least 512 people and injured more than four thousand, according to official figures, but the toll is likely to be higher than that, and put the health care system under enormous pressure to deal with an increasing toll of casualties. Many are now facing severe shortages of water, food, medicine and fuel, in addition to the lack of electricity and the Internet.

On Saturday, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the arrival of 20 Saudi citizens to the city of Jeddah, in addition to 1,866 people of more than 65 nationalities.

The Iranians were received in Jeddah by four Iranian diplomats, bearing in mind that diplomatic missions have not yet been officially opened.

In response to a question in this regard, Zarnarkar Abarquoi said that embassies will reopen their doors "as soon as possible."

The Saudi-Iranian agreement reached last month under the auspices of China provided for the reopening of the embassies of each country to the other in mid-May.

National Bureau: The occupation continues its policy of annexation

The National Bureau for Defending Land and Resisting Settlements affirmed that the occupation is continuing its policy of annexation and perpetuating the apartheid system, taking advantage of the opportunities arising from regional and international conditions.

In this context, he referred to the agreement between the Israeli Minister of Finance, Bezalel Smotrich, and the Minister of Transport, Miri Regev, to allocate billions of shekels in order to develop roads and infrastructure for settlements in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem, and include them in the general budget, as the Israeli government allocated about (4 billion) Shekels for this purpose within the general budget, in addition to the 160 million shekels that were included in the budget of the Ministry of Transportation, provided that these budgets are allocated to infrastructure projects and road development for settlements in the occupied West Bank.

These amounts mean that 25.69% of the budget allocated for "implementing the strategic plan" for building roads in Israel has been allocated and allocated for infrastructure projects and settlement roads in the West Bank, which means that about 4 billion shekels are allocated out of the 13.687 billion shekels allocated for infrastructure projects in Israel. .

The allocated budgets include allocating half a billion shekels to expand the settlement road from the junction of the "Ariel" settlement to the "Taffouh" settlement in the Salfit governorate. It was also decided to allocate 150 million shekels to develop the road network near the "Alfi Menashe" settlement, south of Qalqilya, and to allocate a budget of 200 million shekels to build a bypass road for the hotel town, while a budget of 366 million shekels will be allocated to modernize and widen the road leading to the "Beit El" settlement. A budget of 136 million shekels will be allocated to widen the road leading to the "Beit El" settlement, and a budget of 2 billion shekels will be allocated to develop and expand settlement Road No. 60. According to the understandings, an amount of 156 million shekels was also allocated for the development of an intersection and main roads near Al-Isawiya for the benefit of the settlers, and 80 million for the expansion of the eastern bypass road in Jerusalem, which serves the settlements in the Jerusalem area until Bethlehem and Hebron, in addition to allocating a budget of 300 million shekels for the construction of a settlement road linking a settlement. Majron in the Qalandia crossing area.

At the same time, the occupation authorities, next month, will start digging the Ring Road, east of Jerusalem, which the occupation calls the "fabric of life road" or "the road to sovereignty" because it paves the way for the annexation of the "Ma'ale Adumim" settlement to Jerusalem and paves the way for the implementation of the settlement plan (E1). . The excavation works come as a prelude to paving the street, which aims to completely close the northern entrance to the town of Al-Eizariya, and divert movement towards the north of the town towards Jabal Al-Baba and the town of Al-Zaeem, to link the southern West Bank area with the Jordan Valley area and the city of Jericho on the eastern side of the West Bank. The street aims to allow Palestinians to move from the south to the north without the need to travel on the roads designated for settlers in these areas. The paving of the road will create an apartheid road system between Israelis and Palestinians, and the road is of great importance for the annexation of the Ma'ale Adumim bloc to Israel and for advancing the E1 construction plan. The establishment of a separate road network for Israelis and Palestinians will enable the security establishment to cancel the Al-Za’im checkpoint, located at the eastern entrance to Jerusalem, and move it near the east of the settlement (Kfar Adumim). Jerusalem. As for the goal of preventing the Palestinians from entering the Ma'ale Adumim bloc, it would facilitate the annexation of the lands to Israel more easily in the future. This was the essence of the position of the Mayor of Ma'ale Adumim, who spoke frankly and without diplomatic language about the real goals of the road plan, without taking into account the petition submitted to the Supreme Court by the residents of Al-Eizariya, Abu Dis, Al-Sawahra and others.

These bypass roads are considered one of the occupation tools used in implementing the policy of imposing facts on the ground and shaping the geography of the West Bank. The National Bureau had referred in previous reports to the most important and dangerous of these bypass roads, such as the Hawara bypass road (Za’tara junction), the Arroub bypass road, the Qalandia tunnel, the western Laban bypass road, the Prophet Elias bypass road, the eastern ring road, the road 60 bypass, the eastern Gush Etzion road - the Dead Sea, and others.

Within a series of successive settlement plans, which would consolidate Israeli control over more lands in East Jerusalem, and control its separation from the West Bank in all directions, the Israeli District Committee pushed plans to build 2,969 settlement units in the settlements of French Hill, "Pisgat Ze'ev" and Givat Shaked, and decided to accept all documents of the amended plan and approved each plan for filing for public review and objections. The so-called amended plan confiscates thousands of dunums of Jerusalemites' lands in the center, south, and east of the city, and it threatens the population centers present in the targeted areas. The District Planning Committee in Jerusalem also scheduled a discussion session on the objections to the Wadi Al-Jouz Business Center plan (Silicon Valley) on May 2, which is an advanced step towards its final approval, noting that the local planning committee rejected the objections and recommended approval of the plan on March 29.

At the same time, the Moshe Lion Municipality, in cooperation with the Shikon Vibinoy company, published a new plan to expand the building rights in the plots of land located within the "Givat Hamatos" settlement built on the lands of Beit Safafa in East Jerusalem. The new plan expands the building rights on these lands from 300 to 1,500 settlement units, which means severing the Palestinian geographical contiguity permanently between East Jerusalem and Bethlehem in the south, and preventing the linking of the Palestinian Beit Safafa to a future Palestinian state. The "Givat Hamatos" plan was approved a decade ago, as the settlement contains 2,610 settlement units. Tenders were published for the construction of 1,200 settlement units from the aforementioned units three years ago, but today, extensive works are underway on the ground in order to extend the infrastructure in order to prepare the ground for future Jewish construction in the settlement. The “Shikun Vibinoy” company obtained expanded building percentages in the aforementioned settlement.

In parallel, the local committee in the (western) Jerusalem municipality discussed, last week, the district committee's intention to prepare a new plan also on the lands of Beit Safafa. The scope of the plan is 400 housing units, to expand the Givat Shaked settlement at the expense of the lands of Sharafat and Beit Safafa.

The occupation authorities also decided recently to deposit a plan to build 135 new settlement units in the "Ma'alot Al-Dafna" settlement in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied Jerusalem. According to the occupation decision, the plan is located on the light railway axes of the approved (green) line and the planned line (light blue), with an area of 2110 square meters. An existing 5-story building with 26 units will be demolished, and instead a new 12-story building with 135 settlement units, a synagogue, an underground parking lot for the building's residents and commerce, and a path that connects to the neighborhood's existing lane system and connects to the railroad will be constructed instead.

Also in the context, the occupation municipality approved, through the local committee for planning and building, the so-called plan to preserve the ancient ancient castle of Al-Qasr, south of the old town, which it calls (Eyal), and to reveal it to the settlers, restore it, and build a settlement complex on both sides of it. The plan is located in the complex between Hebron Bethlehem Street, south of the Old City, and the Begin Heritage Complex to the east - near the archaeological strip, the Scottish Church, and the Bible Hill. The planned area is about 513 dunums. The heads of churches and Christian denominations in the Holy Land have warned of the escalation of the extreme right-wing government of Benjamin Netanyahu, settlements in Jerusalem and the occupied Palestinian territories, targeting the property of Christians in Jerusalem and making life worse in the birthplace of Christianity, stressing that the Christian community is under increasing attack, targeting clergy and assaulting property. Religious activities are accelerating and daring under the government of extremists and racists.

All this is happening in and around Jerusalem. As for the rest of the West Bank regions and governorates, the settlement monster continues to advance. In this regard, the so-called "Custodian of Absentees' Property" has transferred nearly half a million dunums of land in the occupied West Bank to the Settlement Division of the Zionist Organization in order to promote settlement and seize more Palestinian lands in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem. Last week, the Israeli Supreme Court in Jerusalem considered a petition submitted by the Israeli left-wing "Peace Now" movement, in which it demanded that the "Settlement Division" be compelled to publish in advance its decisions regarding land allocations in the West Bank for settlements and settler farms. And the “Absentee Property” law passed by the Israeli Knesset in 1950, which allows the occupation authorities to confiscate the property of Palestinian refugees who left their land and property during the Nakba of 1948, even if they were absent from it for a few hours and moved to a nearby village. This racist law constitutes an essential tool for controlling the property of Palestinian refugees and the Islamic endowment, and preventing the return of these to their lands and property that they left before, during or after the 1948 war, and allows the seizure of thousands of homes, real estate and millions of acres. This settlement division controls nearly half a million dunums of lands suitable for settlement and agriculture in the West Bank, which are allocated to settlements and outposts, as was the case in the outposts of "Amona" Migron, Mitzpe Karmim, and Givat "Holbana" located within the "Beit El" settlement. Where private land has been allocated to settlers on private Palestinian land.

Ben Gvir tends to use administrative detention to fight crime inside the occupied territories

The extremist Israeli minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, tends to use the policy of administrative detention, claiming that he is trying to fight crime inside the occupied territories.

According to the Hebrew website Ynet, Ben Gvir instructed the Israeli police chief, Kobi Shabtai, to consider the use of this tool in a measured, limited and decisive manner, in an attempt to prevent the continuation of crimes among Arabs and Jews. As the site mentioned.

According to the Hebrew website, Ben Gvir held a session last Thursday with Shabtai related to this case, and asked the latter to prepare intelligence materials in order to prepare for that, and to contact the prosecution to request their approval of these arrests as soon as possible.

The site indicated that Ben Gvir had previously opposed the policy of administrative detention against Jews, especially settlers in the West Bank, under the pretext that it was undemocratic.

An official in the Israeli police said that the Office of the Judicial Adviser to the government will be contacted in order to examine the legality of this step, while a legal source told the Hebrew-language website that Ben Gvir's proposal is not legally feasible, unless it works to change the current law in force.

The collapse of the shares of the First Republic bank on Wall Street, in the absence of a rescue plan

The share price of the American First Republic bank hit a new low on the New York Stock Exchange on Friday, while rumors multiplied about a strategy or plan to save it that has not yet been realized.

At the end of the Friday session, the share price of the bank, which was the fourteenth largest among the largest US banks by assets size in 2022, fell by 43 percent on Wall Street and reached $ 3.51 after it suspended its trading several times during the session due to large fluctuations.

Thus, the value of the bank is estimated at $654 million, while it was $20 billion at the beginning of the year and more than $40 billion at its peak in November 2021.

He founded First Bank in 1985 and is headquartered in San Francisco, primarily with branches in California and East Coast cities, and serving wealthy clients.

But his fate seems unclear after his failure with two other banks in March. The three banks share a focus on specific customers and/or a specific geographic area.

Authorities and other financial institutions sought to spare "First Republic" the fate of Silicon Valley Bank and "Signature Bank" bankruptcy after sudden huge withdrawals to customers.

The Wall Street Journal, quoting sources close to the file, reported that the US Deposit Insurance Agency (FDIC) may acquire the bank and then sell its assets to another institution. Other interested institutions include JPMorgan Chase and BNC Financial Services.

The bank confirmed on Monday evening that a number of its clients had withdrawn deposits worth more than $100 billion in the first quarter of this year.

He relied on thirty billion dollars that other banks put in his accounts, but that was not enough in the eyes of investors, who caused a drop in the share price on Tuesday and Wednesday, before stopping Thursday.

An unpublished novel by Gabriel García Márquez is released in 2024

An unpublished novel by Gabriel García Márquez will be released on the market in 2024 to mark the tenth anniversary of the death of the Colombian novelist who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982, according to what the publishing house "Random House" announced.

The publishing house indicated in a statement that the new book by the author of “One Hundred Years of Solitude” and “Love in the Time of Cholera” will be available “in 2024 in the markets of various Spanish-speaking countries except for Mexico” and “its publication will certainly constitute the most important literary event for the year 2024.”

The narration titled "We Meet in August" represents the fruit of the writer's "last efforts" to continue writing despite the difficulties, according to what the statement quoted from his sons Rodrigo and Gonzalo García Barca.

Writer and journalist Gabriel García Márquez, born on March 6, 1927 in the city of Aracataca, in northern Colombia, has a large number of short stories and novels.

The Cervantes Institute indicates that Marquez is the most translated Spanish novelist whose work has been translated since the beginning of the twenty-first century, ahead of the Chilean Isabel Allende, the Argentine Jorge Luis Borges, and the Peruvian Mario Vargas Llosa, who also won the Nobel Prize.
