Haaretz: The number of people killed by crimes at home increased during the Ben Gvir era
On Sunday morning, the Hebrew newspaper Haaretz reported that the number of deaths due to crimes committed among Jews and Arabs increased in the first four months of 2023, after Itamar Ben Gvir became minister of the so-called “national security,” compared to the same period last year.
The number of crime deaths this year reached 78, compared to 34 in the same period last year.
According to the newspaper, this number recorded since the beginning of the year is the highest in several decades, and the total number by the end of the year may reach 230 victims.
It appears from the statistics that 60 Palestinians from inside the country have been killed since the beginning of this year, compared to 26 from the same period last year, while 16 Jews and 8 of different foreign nationalities were killed, and the number of women killed reached 11, of whom 9 were due to domestic violence, compared to five in the previous year. same period last year.
According to the Hebrew newspaper, the mystery of only 3 murders committed among the Palestinians inside Israel has been solved, noting that most of the murders were committed against people known to the Israeli police, which indicates the strengthening of the operations of criminal organizations among the Arab community.
In the northern region, 19 people were killed, compared to 23 in the whole of last year, while in the central region, 14 Arabs were killed, including 9 in Lydda alone.
The Israeli police justify the jump in the number of murders under the pretext of diverting most of its forces to deal with the recent wave of Palestinian attacks and marches against "judicial reforms".
An Israeli police officer told the Hebrew newspaper that this issue is not a priority for Ben Gvir, and he does not care much about it.
Ben Gvir refused to respond to what was stated in the report, as reported by "Haaretz".
