An American teenager saves a school bus from a traffic accident after its driver lost consciousness
A 13-year-old American student managed to stop a school bus carrying dozens of students after its driver lost consciousness.
The incident occurred on Wednesday in Northern Michigan, when a teenager named Dillon Reeves got up from his seat and took control of the steering wheel of the bus after noticing that the driver had passed out.
The student was able to stop the car in the middle of the road using the hand brake, according to Robert Levernois, the official in charge of public schools in the region.
The bus was carrying about 70 students from Louis E. Carter Middle School in Warren when the driver lost consciousness, according to a video released by authorities.
In the video, the students can be heard screaming as Reeves takes control of the bus and shouts for someone to call 911.
"Warren is very proud of our hero, seventh grader Dillon Reeves," Jonathan Lafferty, a Warren official, wrote in a Facebook post.
"The teenager took action when his school bus driver had a medical emergency, stopped the bus and prevented an accident that would have been tragic," he added.
