Italian Championship: Milan and Rome keep the same distance with an exciting draw

AC Milan and Rome remained at the same distance in the struggle to qualify for the European Football Champions League, with their exciting 1-1 draw at the Olympic Stadium in the capital, Saturday, in the thirty-second stage of the Italian Football League.

While the match was taking its last breath, England's Tammy Abraham scored what seemed to be the deadly winning goal for Roma in the 90 + 4 minute from the first shot on goal in the meeting by the two teams.

But Belgian substitute Alexis Salimakers snatched the equalizer for Milan in the 90 + 7 minute with his team's first shot on goal, after he followed a long cross that Portuguese Rafael Leao executed towards the second post.

Milan remained in fourth place, with 57 points, ahead of Roma, fifth, on goal difference, as they are equal in the two direct confrontations (2-2 and 1-1) and have the same goal difference (+14).

Atalanta took full advantage of this draw by achieving a fatal victory at its host Turin 2-1, to advance to sixth place and become two points away from them.

The Bergamo team advanced through Davide Zappacosta (34) and the hosts equalized through the Paraguayan Antonio Sanabria (75), before the Colombian substitute Duvan Sabata snatched the victory for the guests (88).

The opportunity will be available for Inter VII (54 points) to snatch fourth place, by goal difference from Rome and Milan, in the event of its victory over its second guest, Lazio, on Sunday, a match that will constitute an opportunity for Napoli to be crowned champion for the first time since 1990 in the event of its victory over Salernitana in exchange for a draw or the fall of Lazio.

Roma coach Jose Mourinho said after the match, "We are not a rich team, we do not have a large squad, every time we lose a player it is a big problem. Of course I am sad because the three points were in our hands, but my pride is greater than my sadness."

The capital team suffers from injuries with the absence of English defenders Chris Smalling, Spaniard Diego Llorente and Dutchman Rick Karsdorp, and the latter's citizen, midfielder Georginho Wijnaldum, was absent, while Argentine star Paulo Dybala remained on the bench for not fully recovering.

After a quarter of an hour, Roma lost the efforts of its Albanian defender Marash Kumbola, and Stephen El Shaarawy entered at the start of the second half instead of Andrea Belotti, who was injured in the ribs after a collision with Milan's English defender Fikayo Tomori, who was knocked out in turn.
