Tens of thousands demonstrated on Saturday evening against the Netanyahu government and the plan to weaken the judiciary, while an escalation of protests was announced next Thursday.
Today, Saturday evening, protests against the Netanyahu government and the plan to weaken the judiciary were renewed in Tel Aviv and dozens of major towns and junctions in the country, for the seventeenth week in a row.
The organizers of the protests announced that they would escalate their protest steps against the plan to weaken the judiciary aimed at undermining the powers of the Supreme Court, provided that next Thursday will be a "day of paralysis" in the country.
The central demonstration was organized as usual on "Kaplan" Street in Tel Aviv, while thousands demonstrated in Haifa, the "Karkur" junction, Nahariya, Kfar Saba, Rehovot, Jerusalem, Herzliya, Ra'anana and others.
The police arrested two demonstrators during the demonstration on Street 65 (Karkur junction), on the grounds that the junction was closed to traffic.
During his participation in the Kfar Saba demonstration, the head of the Israeli opposition, Yair Lapid, attacked the Minister of Justice, Yarliv Levin, saying that "the person who declared war on the Supreme Court cannot and will not be the one who appoints the next president of the Supreme Court," considering that he "has lost credibility." Supreme Court justices.
The Israeli police closed many streets in the country, coinciding with the demonstrations, and recorded traffic jams in several streets.
