Tunisia is looking forward to further developing relations with the Gulf countries

On Monday, Tunisian President Kais Saied, during his meeting with the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi, expressed his country's aspiration to further develop relations with the Gulf countries.


The Tunisian presidency said in a statement published this evening on its official Facebook page that President Kais Saied met today, at the Carthage presidential palace, the Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.


She added that President Saeed praised during the meeting "the depth of sincere brotherhood ties and the strength of the bonds of fruitful partnership between Tunisia and the GCC countries," and expressed Tunisia's aspiration to "further develop them and build promising partnerships in several sectors."


And she added that President Kais Saied stressed that these partnerships should be "according to new mechanisms and visions that consolidate the values of solidarity and synergy, especially by making good use of the capabilities and opportunities available to both sides, benefiting from mutual expertise and experiences, and resuming the normal pattern of Tunisian-Gulf economic, investment and financial cooperation."


For his part, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council announced that he signed today a memorandum of understanding with Tunisian Foreign Minister Nabil Ammar, aimed at "strengthening multiple means of cooperation within the framework of political consultations, as well as in the economic, investment, cultural and academic fields."


Al-Budaiwi expressed, in a statement after his meeting with President Kais Saied, the Tunisian presidency broadcast excerpts from him in a video clip it published on its official Facebook page, expressing his hope that the memorandum of understanding would enable tangible results to be achieved in the shortest possible time by starting talks at the level of senior officials. On both sides "very soon".


And he considered that the memorandum of understanding signed today "will greatly benefit the Tunisian people," expressing at the same time the aspiration of the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf "to further consolidate and consolidate cooperation relations with Tunisia, in the interest of the Gulf and Tunisian peoples."


Today, Al-Budaiwi began a working visit to Tunisia at the invitation of the Tunisian Foreign Minister, which falls within the framework of keenness to advance cooperation relations with the Gulf Cooperation Council and enhance consultation and coordination between the two sides, according to a statement by the Tunisian Foreign Ministry.
