Lebanon: Two dead and wounded in an Israeli raid on the Bekaa
Two Lebanese were killed and other injuries were reported, following an Israeli air force raid, at dawn on Wednesday, on the area between the Lebanese towns of Talia and Hazin, in the Bekaa Valley in the east of the country.
The National News Agency reported that the Israeli army targeted the Bekaa Valley today, Wednesday, for the first time since the ceasefire agreement was announced.
Israeli aircraft targeted an area near the official school in the town of Taybeh, located a few kilometers from the Lebanese border with Israel.
The Israeli air strike resulted in the immediate death of two martyrs, while the wounded were transferred to the hospital for treatment, according to Lebanese medical sources.
The raid was accompanied by intensive Israeli drone flights over the targeted area, reaching the vicinity of the city of Baalbek. The raid also resulted in the burning and complete destruction of warehouses.
Israel continues to violate the ceasefire agreement, which was concluded after violent confrontations with Hezbollah that lasted for more than two months.
The agreement, which entered into force on November 27, stipulated that Israel would withdraw from areas it had penetrated south of the Blue Line within 60 days, with the Lebanese army deployed in the southern region as the only entity authorized to carry weapons there, in addition to dismantling illegal military sites.
Despite the ceasefire agreement, Lebanese authorities documented at least 287 Israeli violations, including artillery shelling, airstrikes, intensive flights by warplanes and drones, in addition to ground incursions, gunfire and other attacks.
