Israeli settlers burn land, destroy gravestones near Nablus
Israeli settlers set ablaze Palestinian land on Thursday in the West Bank town of Qusra, south of Nablus.
Fouad Hassan, an activist agains in the town, said that the settlers of the Esh Kodesh outpost set fire to Palestinian-owned land southeast of the town, causing significant damage to the pastoral fields.
The group of settlers also destroyed gravestones in the village of Burqa, northwest of Nablus.
Ghassan Douglas, the Palestinian Authority official in charge of monitoring settlements in the northern West Bank, said that the settlers destroyed a number of tombstones in one of the village's cemeteries near the site of the evacuated Homesh settlement.
Homesh was one of four settlements in the northern West Bank evacuated in 2005 as part of Israel's disengagement from the Gaza Strip.
Last month, Israel's far-right government passed a law that would allow the settlers to return, and they have already relocated their temporary yeshiva to a permanent location at the site.
