A man has been arrested for bathing in the waters of a rhino enclosure in a New Zealand park
A man at Auckland Zoo in New Zealand was arrested Wednesday for breaking into an African wildebeest enclosure and bathing in the moat alongside rhinos and antelopes, the site said.
Footage of the incident posted on social media shows the aforementioned individual wearing an undershirt paddling in the water, before washing his face and hair.
The barn includes animals such as rhinos and Nyala antelopes with curved horns.
"The rhinos and nyalas were understandably taken aback by the intrusive visitor," a spokesperson for Auckland Zoo said.
The man remained in the water for several minutes before complying with the orders of the park rangers and returning to the visitors' area. He was then handed over to the police.
Zoo director Kevin Pooley said he was "very relieved" that no members of the public or the animals were injured.
"We hope the man in question will receive the help and support he clearly needs," he added.
