British pop singer Gary Glitter, who was convicted of sexually abusing minors, has been imprisoned again

(AFP) - British pop singer Gary Glitter , 79, who was sentenced in 2015 to 16 years in prison for sexually assaulting three minors, has been returned to prison for violating the terms of his release, Britain's monitoring services announced.
The former singer, whose real name is Paul Gad, who was released on February 3, was convicted in 2015 of attempted rape, four sexual assaults and sexual relations with an underage girl.
He was released in the middle of his term, after he had spent eight years behind bars.
A spokesman for the monitoring services said, "Protecting the population is our most important priority, so we set strict conditions for the release of prisoners, but when they violate them, we do not hesitate to send them back to prison."
Glitter was widely known during the period during which he assaulted minors.
The victims of Gary Glitter are two girls who were 12 and 13 years old when he assaulted them after being removed from their mothers.
As for the youngest victim, she was a ten-year-old girl when he tried to rape her in 1975.
The rock singer was arrested on the twenty-eighth of October 2012 in London, in light of the exposure of several scandals related to sexual abuse of children in the United Kingdom.
Glitter was arrested in 1997 and sentenced to four months in prison for downloading clips showing sexual acts with children to his computer.
The singer then decided to stay out of the limelight, so he moved to Cambodia, where he was arrested and expelled in 2002 on charges of sexual acts with children. And in 2006, he was sentenced to three years in prison for the same reason.
After serving a prison sentence of two years and nine months, he returned to his country in 2008.
Glitter achieved wide fame in the seventies of the last century, and was famous for several songs, the most important of which was "I Am The Leader Of The Gang".
