Blinken: "Israel" achieved its goals in the war
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that "Israel" achieved its goals in the war and we are working to end the war and build a better future for the people of Gaza.
He pointed out that the Qatari Prime Minister played a major personal role in the efforts to return the detainees to their homes, appreciating Qatar's position on its main role as a partner in finding peace.
Blinken stressed the intensification of efforts to reach a diplomatic solution in Lebanon that allows for the implementation of Resolution 1701, noting that the United States wants to ensure that we will not see further major escalation in the region.
He noted that he supports Israel's right to defend itself against Iran, but at the same time does not want to see a vicious cycle of escalation in the region.
He added: "There is a chance for a solution because the obstacle was Sinwar, who is no longer there now," and "we must have a plan for the next day that allows Israel to withdraw from Gaza."
He continued: "We must have a plan for the day after the war that does not allow Hamas to return to Gaza and we reject any action that creates a siege, starves people and separates parts of the Gaza Strip."
He pointed out that he expects the negotiations to resume within days and we will see the extent of Hamas's seriousness in participating, stressing the United States' complete rejection of the generals' plan in the northern Gaza Strip.
He also stressed that we are looking into different options that we have reached a conclusion regarding the ceasefire talks and the return of detainees.
