BRICS group calls for Palestine to join the United Nations
The BRICS group called on Wednesday for the State of Palestine to join the United Nations within the 1967 borders, and for an immediate cessation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
In a closing statement of its leaders' meeting in the Russian city of Kazan, it said that the BRICS countries condemn the Israeli attacks on civilian and humanitarian sites and infrastructure in Palestine, and call for an immediate cessation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
It is noteworthy that the 16th BRICS Summit kicked off yesterday, Tuesday, in the presence of the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, along with 24 heads of state and government, and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres.
