Massive protests against Netanyahu in Washington
Thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters took to the streets of Washington, DC, to protest against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is in the United States to address Congress.
Thousands of people gathered to express their dissatisfaction with Netanyahu's policies towards the Gaza Strip, and blocked traffic on Pennsylvania Avenue, the main road between the White House and Congress.
In addition to American and Palestinian Muslims, the protests were attended by many Jewish non-governmental organizations and human rights activists who oppose Netanyahu's policies.
The demonstrators carried banners with phrases such as "Immediate ceasefire in Gaza," "Bibi genocide" and "Free Palestine."
Protesters, who were not allowed to approach the Capitol building, are expected to continue their protests between the White House and the Capitol building throughout the day.
Pro-Palestinian demonstrators also held various protests around and inside the hotel where Netanyahu is staying, chanting anti-genocide and anti-Netanyahu slogans.
