Lebanese newspaper: Israel presents to Cairo its plan regarding the Philadelphia and Rafah axis

Egyptian sources said that the Israeli delegation present in Cairo touched on the field situation on the Philadelphia border axis, about which lengthy discussions took place during the recent period.

According to the Lebanese Al-Akhbar newspaper, Israel presented scenarios that include Israeli control over the axis after the Israeli army withdraws from it, according to an agreed upon timetable, with Tel Aviv having the ability to enter and control it in the event of allegations of arms smuggling operations through the border strip.

On the other hand, yesterday, Israeli Army Radio published details of what it called an Egyptian offer to Israel if the latter proceeds with the prisoner exchange deal.

The radio said, in its report, that “Egypt has expressed its willingness to help build an underground barrier to prevent the passage of weapons into Gaza, if Israel agrees to the exchange deal.”

It explained that “Egypt sent a letter to the head of the Mossad containing an offer, during the recent talks on Friday,” stating that: “If Israel agrees to the deal, Egypt will work with the United States to help build an underground barrier to prevent the passage of weapons into Gaza, in the first days of Ceasefire agreement.

While agreeing on the status of the Rafah Crossing will be an essential part of today’s talks, in the presence of an American, “the Israeli side showed flexibility in handing over the Rafah Crossing to what it described as a civilian authority that will manage it, but with conditions and controls to be agreed upon,” according to an informed Egyptian source, who added that “the matter It requires detailed discussions in the coming days.”

After the talks in Cairo, McGurk is expected to arrive in Israel tomorrow and meet with Prime Minister Netanyahu and Army Minister Gallant.

US Intelligence Director Burns will continue to head to Qatar to attend a four-way meeting that will be held on Wednesday in Doha regarding the hostage deal.

In the meeting, Burns will hold talks with the Prime Minister of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, the head of Egyptian intelligence, and the head of the Mossad, Dedi Barnea. A high-ranking Israeli official said that the Israeli delegation will also discuss with the Egyptians and Americans Netanyahu's demand to prevent the return of Hamas militants to the northern Gaza Strip as part of implementing the hostage deal and ceasefire.
