Health: Gaza is experiencing an unprecedented health disaster
The Ministry of Health said that an unprecedented global health catastrophe is witnessing the Gaza Strip, as a result of the Israeli occupation’s aggression that has continued for seven months.
In a statement issued today, Saturday, the Ministry called on the international community and international health and humanitarian organizations to intensify pressure on the occupation authorities to stop the aggression and save the lives of millions of citizens who were displaced from their homes to escape death and deliberate Israeli targeting.
The Ministry of Health warned of a genocide that might occur if the occupation carried out its aggressive threats to invade Rafah Governorate, where there are more than one million two hundred thousand citizens, who have taken refuge there to escape the bombing, and only 3 hospitals are partially functioning, and it is witnessing a lack of public health, water, food and means of transportation. Health prevention.
The Ministry confirmed that the Israeli occupation forces deliberately target every day treatment centers and staff, ambulances, and patients. The Israeli war machine targeted 155 health institutions, which led to 32 hospitals and 53 health centers being put out of service, and the destruction of 130 ambulances, which constitutes the entire health system that was providing services. Treatment for our people.
As a result of the aggression, 496 health personnel were martyred, the occupation authorities arrested 309 personnel, and more than 1,500 were injured. The aggression also led to the destruction of the main treatment centers to which cases were referred from hospitals and other governorates.
The ministry added, "The Israeli occupation aggression caused the collapse of the health system in the Gaza Strip, and led to the deprivation of the sick and wounded from receiving the necessary treatment, and the death of many of them due to the lack of equipment, medicines, medical supplies, and food, the limited number of staff, and the spread of diseases, preventing them from receiving treatment outside the Gaza Strip."
As the health crisis in the Gaza Strip worsened, 31 citizens died as a result of malnutrition and dehydration, the majority of them children, while a number of deaths of dialysis patients were recorded. Cancer and kidney patients and pregnant women also suffer from tragic health conditions.
The statement added, "The bed occupancy rate reached about 250% in a number of hospitals that remained partially operational, and health personnel are suffering today from a heavy burden due to the large number of patients and wounded."
As the Israeli aggression entered the seventh month continuously, the number of martyrs in the Gaza Strip reached more than 34,650 martyrs, about 78 thousand were injured, while the number of missing people exceeded ten thousand.
