An Egyptian source told Al-Arabiya TV on Friday that Cairo had submitted a new proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The source explained that the new proposal includes the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip in stages, noting that Cairo will send a security delegation to Tel Aviv this week to push efforts to resume ceasefire negotiations.

The source added that the Egyptian proposal includes discussing the formation of an international committee headed by the United States to supervise the ceasefire.
