One out of every six people in the world is infertile (WHO)

The World Health Organization reported on Tuesday that one out of every six people in the world suffers from infertility, underlining the urgent need to expand access to affordable and good quality treatments.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus noted in a new report that "one in six people in the world is unable to conceive a child at some point in their lives, regardless of the region they live in or the resources available to them."

The World Health Organization confirmed that this situation represents a "major health problem" affecting 17.8% of the adult population in rich countries and 16.5% of the population of low- or middle-income countries.

"The report, the first of its kind to be issued in ten years, revealed an important fact that infertility does not discriminate between people," Gebrisius said.

The report did not refer to the medical or environmental reasons behind infertility, or how this health problem has evolved over time, but it provided a preliminary idea of its prevalence by analyzing all the studies that dealt with it between 1990 and 2021.

The report showed that "infertility affects a large portion of the world's population" because this health problem affects 17.5% of adults worldwide.

Gebrisios stressed that "infertility affects millions of people," but despite that, "it has not been covered by sufficient studies, while the necessary treatments face a lack of funding and are not available to many due to their high costs, the social stigma associated with the problem, and their insufficient availability."

He added, "The large percentage of those affected by infertility shows the need to expand access to fertility care, and to ensure that this issue is not marginalized in research and health policies, so that effective and affordable treatments become available to those who wish to get rid of this problem."

According to the World Health Organization, infertility is a disease of the male or female reproductive system, defined by the inability to reach a pregnancy result after 12 months or more of regular intercourse without the use of contraception. Infertility can cause psychological stress, ostracism and financial distress for those affected.

"Pregnancy is usually accompanied by great social pressure," said Pascal Alotei, Director of the Department of Sexual and Reproductive Health at the World Health Organization, during the presentation of the report to reporters, adding that "bearing children is still in some countries a necessary process linked to society's view of femininity and marriage." “Failure to conceive often carries a social stigma.”

She pointed out that "people who face the problem of infertility often suffer from anxiety and depression," noting that there is "an increased risk of domestic violence associated with infertility."

The World Health Organization has called on countries to develop methods of preventing, diagnosing and treating infertility that include assisted reproductive technologies such as artificial insemination.

"We want to ensure that the silence around infertility is broken, by making sure it is built into sexual and reproductive policies and services and related financing," said Dr. Getu Mburo of the World Health Organisation.

While the report presented data confirming the "high prevalence of infertility in the world", it also highlighted the lack of data in several countries, including African countries and countries in the eastern Mediterranean and Southeast Asia.

He called on countries to ensure the availability of more data on infertility, disaggregated by age and causes, to help determine the extent of the problem and understand who needs fertility treatment, and how the risks of infertility can be reduced.

It is not among Ben Gvir's priorities.. Record numbers of murders in the occupied territories

The Hebrew newspaper Haaretz reported, on Tuesday, that the Israeli police had deciphered less than 5 percent of the murders that occurred among Palestinians inside Israel since the beginning of 2023, compared to more than 83 percent of murder cases among Jews.

During the first quarter of this year, 40 Palestinians were killed, and two others since the beginning of this month, which is a record at all, while 21 were killed in the same period last year.

Of the 42 murder cases in which investigations were opened this year, the Israeli police were able to solve the mystery of only two cases, one in Shuafat camp, and the other in Jisr al-Zarqa.

According to the Hebrew newspaper, the Israeli police are usually unable to get their hands on the killers, and in most cases they do not even arrest suspects, as confirmed by a senior police official.

Another officer said: "Assigning the police on a large scale to deal with the demonstrations makes it difficult to deal with murder cases. We are only at the beginning of the year and there are dozens of murder cases, and there are dozens like them from last year that have not yet been resolved."

According to the newspaper, the so-called Minister of National Security , Itamar Ben Gvir , avoids holding regular talks, as his predecessor used to do, to fight crimes among the Palestinians of the interior, so that contacts between his office and the Arab local authorities were cut off since he assumed the ministry.

An Israeli official said that this issue is not a priority for Ben Gvir at the present time.

The Israeli government intends to double the budget allocated to settlers who monitor Palestinian construction in Area C, according to the Oslo Accords.

And according to the Hebrew newspaper Haaretz, the Ministry of Settlements will allocate 40 million shekels to the local and regional settlement councils, instead of 20 that were allocated in the past during the Bennett-Lapid government, for this step that contributes to the demolition of Palestinian homes, indicating that the amount will be disbursed only after approval. Drones, tablets, and vehicles are used in monitoring operations.

In recent years, the Civil Administration has also run a hotline calling on settlers to report Palestinian construction work, as part of a strategic plan aimed at uprooting Palestinians from Area C.

Haaretz: The Israeli strikes in Syria are an attempt to restore deterrence after the Megiddo operation

The Hebrew newspaper Haaretz said, on Tuesday, that the repeated Israeli strikes against Iran and Hezbollah in Syria aim at trying to restore deterrence against them and restore the balance of terror to prevent any new attacks after the attack that took place at the Megiddo intersection near Haifa, when an explosive device was detonated on the thirteenth of last March. As a result, a Palestinian resident of the Green Line was seriously injured, and the perpetrator of the attack was killed after he was pursued before returning to Lebanon.

According to the newspaper, Israel has so far hinted at Hezbollah's responsibility for the operation with the help of Iran, but it has not yet officially accused them, noting that the intensified attacks in recent days seem to come in response to the Megiddo attack, which is seen as a radical departure from Hezbollah's policy in the past decade and a half.

The newspaper says: "It can be assumed that Israel saw in the attack evidence of a new line adopted by Hezbollah with Iranian encouragement, and the Lebanese party appreciates, as evidenced by the speeches of its illiterate general, Hassan Nasrallah, that Israel is mired in internal crises, and therefore will refrain from harsh reactions, in addition to So they believe in Tehran and Beirut that it is possible to link the friction in the north with the Palestinian events and attacks and encourage more of them, especially during the month of Ramadan.

She indicated that the Israeli attacks prompted Iran to send a drone on Sunday evening, before it was shot down over Wadi al-Hula, and it was not reported whether it was offensive or on a filming mission, noting that Iran took a similar step from Syria in 2018, followed by air strikes. It lasted about 3 months.

The newspaper says, however, that despite the political and constitutional crisis, the Israeli response policy has been completely restricted so far, noting that Israel seems to have avoided attacking Hezbollah targets in Lebanon to prevent the region from being dragged into the war, and therefore focuses its attacks against Hezbollah and Iran targets in Syria.

Not allowing football matches to be suspended for breakfast is causing controversy in France

The French Football Federation's decision not to allow matches to be suspended to allow Muslim players to break their fast during Ramadan sparked controversy among the league, unlike what is happening in other European leagues.
The "Ultras" group raised the Paris Saint-Germain fans on Sunday at the "Parc des Princes" stadium, a banner criticizing the French Federation for the game, whose firm position on Ramadan contradicts the decisions taken in neighboring countries that sympathize with those who fast.
The issue came to light after the French Federation sent a message to the referees on Thursday reminding them of the applicable laws. Stopping matches during the evening that coincides with the end of fasting for Muslim players "does not respect the provisions of the federation's statute."
"The idea is that there is a time for everything. A time for sports, a time for religious rituals," Eric Borghini, head of the Federal Referees Committee, told AFP.
For Borghini, who is a member of the federation's executive committee, it is simply a matter of "strict application of Article 1 of the federation's statute regarding the demand for respect for the principle of secularism in football."
From this reality, the football community has reinvigorated the debate, old and regular, over what should be French secularism: the freedom to practice one's religion freely, or the primacy of applying common laws to religious beliefs.
"In 2023 we can stop the match for 20 minutes to make decisions, but not for one minute to drink water," Luca Dini, Aston Villa's English player, wrote on social media.
Contrary to the controversy in France, the English Football Association took the decision to stop the matches for a short period to allow Muslim players to break the fast during the month of Ramadan, which began on March 22.
And the Dutch League recently took the same steps for the first time, while the head of the referees in the German League announced last year that he supports the referees who decide to grant such a kind of break.
In Italy and Spain, no decisions were planned, but the door to discussion was not legislated on this issue. Moroccan Sofiane Amrabat (Fiorentina), for example, took advantage of the therapists entering the field to drink water and eat food on Saturday evening during the 1-0 victory over Inter.
England remains the leader in this issue due to the adoption of rest periods two years ago, under the influence of what French Wesley Fofana and Senegalese Sheikho Kouyate, players of Leicester City and Crystal Palace at the time, did after they decided to stop eating in the middle of the match.
"I was born in France and worked there, but there is a big difference between France and England. The English set a good example," said Mali Abdallah Doucoure, Everton midfielder.
In the same context, Nice coach Didier Degard said on Friday, "We know that they are more open than us on this issue and it has always been so. It would be great if France did the same, but no one would worry if that did not happen."
At Nice, where many players spend the month of Ramadan, the most important point is related to the health status of players who may feel unwell during the fasting period, according to the young coach.
"We accompany them as best we can. We have a high-quality performance center. They are monitored in terms of food and water," Degar added.
In the Nantes team, Muslim players are exempt from eating meals together and from the second training period, during the days that witness the establishment of two training periods.
"There is support, there is listening," says Canary coach Antoine Kombuare, but "on match day you shouldn't fast. There's a lot of effort, you have to be ready. Those who fast are not in the group. I don't want them." Justification for not summoning the Algerian Joan Hajjam against Reims on Sunday in the 29th stage competitions (Nantes lost

England Championship: Tottenham rises to fourth place

Tottenham, led by its temporary coach, rose to fourth place in the England Football Championship , drawing with its host Everton 1-0 on Monday, in a match that the two teams ended with ten players at the end of the twenty-ninth stage.
Tottenham raised its tally to 50 points, ahead by goal difference from Manchester United, who fell to fifth place by losing to Newcastle III, 0-2, on Sunday. Newcastle, in turn, has 50 points, but Tottenham played two games more than its competitors.
Tottenham played the match under the leadership of its Italian coach, Christian Stellini, who was an assistant to his compatriot Antonio Conte, after the latter was dismissed from his post last week.
Stilney previously supervised some of Tottenham's matches this season when Conte was recovering from gallbladder surgery.
The Tottenham board decided to appoint Stellini until the end of the season before choosing a new coach.
For the second time in a row, Tottenham gave up winning away from home, after advancing in its last match before the international break over Southampton 3-1 until the last minutes before the latter scored two goals to come up with a valuable point in its struggle to remain among the elite clubs.
The first half was very monotonous, as both teams failed to create real chances at the goal gate.
The turning point in the second half was in favor of Tottenham, when Everton's international financial midfielder, Abdellay Doucoure, was sent off after a fight between him and Harry Kane (58).
Matters got worse for Everton after the referee awarded a penalty kick in favor of Tottenham ten minutes after the expulsion incident, following a mistake made by defender Michael Kane. Harry Kane successfully set out on it (68), raising his tally to 22 goals this season, in second place for the top scorer after Manchester City's Norwegian top scorer Erling Holland. with 28 goals.
Tottenham thought that he was on his way to collect the three points and rise to third place, but he, in turn, was subjected to an accident by his Brazilian striker Lucas Moura in the 88th minute, six minutes after his participation as a substitute.
And Tottenham paid a dear price for this expulsion, because Everton equalized immediately after this incident by the center of his defense, Michael Keane, who fired a missile into the net of French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, who returned between the three woods after an absence since February due to injury.

Qatar Championship: Al-Arabi overtakes Umm Salal and continues to put pressure on leaders Al-Duhail

Al-Arabi continued to put pressure on Al-Duhail, the leaders of the Qatari Football League , after they overcame Umm Salal 2-0 on Monday at the end of the eighteenth round.
Al-Shaab raised its score to 40 points, consolidating its second position, and bringing back the two-point difference from Al-Duhail, to continue to cling to its chances of competing for the title that has been absent from its coffers for more than 25 years. On the other hand, Umm Salal’s balance was frozen at point 13 in the penultimate position leading to the relegation playoff to the ranks of second-division clubs.
Al-Arabi owes its thirteenth victory in the league to its Syrian star, Omar Al-Soma, who scored two goals (33 and 75).
Coach Younis Ali's team imposed complete control over the course of the first half, creating many opportunities, before scoring the first goal after a beautiful sentence started by Spaniard Ravina Alcantara to pass the ball to Abdullah Al-Muraisi, who in turn prepared it for Omar Al-Soma to turn it into the net (33).
Despite Umm Salal's attempts to return to the match in the second half, Al-Arabi's counter-attacks found efficacy to consolidate the result when Alcantara sent a cross that was met by Al-Somah.

Rummana and Al-Faraa are the closest to returning to the first in the Al-Salwi Jawal League and Al-Sadara Sahouri

After the conclusion of the thirteenth round of the Al-Salawi Mobile League , the return stage, the situation did not change in the ranking table at the front or at the bottom, and there were no surprises or results that helped other clubs, but rather all of them were in the interest of the winning teams without changing locations or centers, so the nominated teams To win the 13th round, I achieved the victory completely, and no team deviated from this rule, so the table arrangement remained as it was.

The foreign player also remained at the top of the scorers' ranking as usual, as almost every foreign player scored the largest number of points for his team in this round as in the rest of the rounds, but there are some local players who compete to some extent with some foreigners in their teams in terms of scoring.

While the technical levels of matches and clubs remained average and did not rise to the desired level until now, the levels of referees and arbitration varied according to the strength of the matches and competitors, while the teams varied in playing according to the technical plans drawn by the coaches from one club to another and from one coach to another, and in most cases improvisation is the master of the situation in matches.

The general arrangement is as it is, so the Orthodox team, Beit Sahour, maintained the lead by two points, with 25 points with a full score, after 13 full rounds of the league’s life. in every match.

The Qalandia Center team, in second place with 24 points, is chasing Beit Sahour strongly and is waiting for any failure of the Sahouri team from any team in order to first reduce the point difference between them, as the Orthodox of Beit Sahour exceeds Qalandia by two points, so it will not be easy for Qalandia to catch up without a gift from other clubs and its victory It is on Beit Sahour until it shrinks and then overtakes.

The Qalandia team has the potential to compete strongly with Beit Sahour in the match that brings them together in the second leg, provided that Qalandia achieves victory in this match and decides it and waits for a gift from others.

Ebdaa team ranked third with 23 points, maintaining the overall standings after its recent victory over Al-Suriya in its den. The team is also a fierce competitor in the Golden Square and awaits any faltering for Qalandia until they exchange positions, since the difference between them is a single point. The team is proceeding according to plan by its management and things are going smoothly So far, in the results, especially since he has established a foothold in the golden square, and this is important.

The Ramallah Orthodox team ranked fourth in the Golden Square with 21 points, ahead of Ter Santa Beit Hanina by one point, as the Beit Hanina team competes to return to the Golden Square, while the Ramallah Orthodox team will try to move forward with its good results and not lose any match until it is guaranteed to stay in the Golden Square, knowing in advance that there is a competitor Strong wants to pounce on this center and is waiting for any stumbling block for the Ramallah team to take his place.

The Trasanta Beit Hanina team returned to compete strongly to cross the golden square, where it played good matches, in which it achieved victory, chasing Orthodox Ramallah, lagging behind by a single point, waiting to stumble on the hottest embers. Bfoua after retreating in more than one meeting.

Orthodox Beit Jala team ranked sixth with 19 points and was the most loser by declining results after it stormed the golden square for two rounds. It could not hold on and retreated behind Trasanta Beit Hanina. It was one of the clubs that we were waiting for to compete strongly in the league and in the golden square, but the results are on the ground. It changed and the Betjali team moved away to a large extent from the competition to reach the golden square, but it found a warm place for it in the general standings, rooted in a mobile league, waiting for the next season to adjust the course.

The Orthodox Bethlehem team ranked seventh with 17 points, maintaining its survival in the league for the current season, moving away, albeit temporarily, from relegation and giving it a foothold in the general league. The team has declined a lot in its results recently, especially after the Corona virus and beyond, until it reached the competition for relegation more than A season after he was competing to win the title, and he may return to strong competition next season if the spiritual father of the club and the team, veteran coach Saleh Al-Bandak, works on that.

Al-Suriya team ranked eighth with 16 points, benefiting from the stumbling of its competitors at the bottom of the standings, Rummana and Al-Far’a. Its victory over Al-Far’a was very useful for the team to get away, even temporarily, from the specter of relegation that it suffered when it fell, but it returned quickly in the following season despite its reliance on its local players, the sons of Al-Sariya, and suffered in this The season was also a lot, but it almost got out of the bottleneck, so its presence in the premium class became almost certain.

The Al-Suriya team, one of the oldest Salwa clubs, found itself once again in suffering and the specter of relegation. This team, which has great championships and well-known titles, is trying as much as possible to get out with the least losses in this season, which is to remain within the league with its local players, but it will work in the next season to restore the team in order to return Auspicious for competition.

The Al-Faraa Center team ranked ninth with 14 points and a strong candidate for relegation and return to the first division, which it left last season, and its goal was to stay in the Premier League, which it was always accustomed to in the past, but the team seemed not to have prepared and prepared for the real preparation for this league, so it had only players His players are from the camp and he did not contract with distinguished players who can go with him and him away in the competitions, so that the team returns to suffer again and the team is close to the specter of relegation once again, and with all that the Fara’a center can organize itself and arrange its affairs again in the next season and return strongly to the league of lights But this is an urgent need to sign some distinguished players so that the team can hold out for a long time and even compete strongly after that.

Rummana team ranked tenth and last with 13 points, and it may be the first team to return to the Grievances League. Last season, the team rose to the League of Lights for the first time and did not contract with distinguished players in the current league, like Al-Faraa, which led the team to not achieve tangible results, and found itself in the last place suffering bitterness Landing and returning for a new first time.

If the team wants to play excellent, it has to contract with new players so that the team can stay in the league, and with reaching the fourteenth round of the league’s life, the train may be too late now for Pomegranate, and the team must prepare well in the next season in order to return to the spotlight, as the team is closest to returning and relegating to the first division .

With these results so far, we can say, albeit temporarily, that we will lose two teams from the north in the Premier Division for this season, namely Ittihad Rummana and Al-Faraa Center.

Russia is defending itself in the face of criticism for assuming the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council

On Monday, Russia defended itself in the face of a torrent of criticism for assuming the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council for the month of April, stressing that it would not take advantage of its position.

"We do not abuse the powers of the presidency. The national position is one thing, and performing the role of presiding over the council is something else," Russian Ambassador Vasily Nebenzia said at the press conference held at the beginning of the council's rotating presidency.

On Saturday, Russia assumed the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council, according to the rules in force, which stipulate the transition of the presidency periodically every month, according to the alphabetical order of the member states.

Russia's assumption of the rotating presidency of the Security Council drew criticism, especially from Kiev, which described the matter as a "slap to the international community" and to Ukraine's allies.

On Monday, US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield said in a press conference, "As you know, Russia presides over the Security Council as of April 1.

It's like an April Fool's joke."

And she continued, "In fact, the position shifts periodically. We expect them to act in a professional manner (...) But we also expect them to use their seat to spread disinformation and promote their own agenda with regard to Ukraine, and we are ready to confront them every time they try to do so."
For months, Kiev and Western capitals have been denouncing Russian "propaganda" about Ukraine.

Nebenizah said that this position is at the heart of the "Western narrative," accusing Kiev's allies of "disseminating misinformation," especially "about the situation of Ukrainian children who were allegedly kidnapped in Ukraine and forcibly transferred to Russia."

The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin on charges of war crimes over the illegal deportations of Ukrainian children.

The Russian ambassador to the United Nations stressed that this indictment is "stupid" and "illegitimate," noting that Nebenzia is holding an informal meeting at the United Nations on this issue on Wednesday.

The Presidency of the Security Council gives some authority over the agenda, but Russia's permanent membership gives it the ability to call emergency meetings whenever it wants to.

The country that holds the rotating presidency of this body usually holds two or three meetings on topics of its choosing.

Russia announced that its Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will chair a meeting on April 24 on "Defending the Principles of the Charter of the United Nations."

And on Monday, Assistant British Ambassador to the United Nations James Kariuki commented on this session, to be chaired by Lavrov, by saying that "Russia is not in a position to talk about international law or the values of the United Nations."

Mubarak Ardol , Director General of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, said that the country's total production of gold for the year 2022 amounted to 41.8 tons, while revenues amounted to about 150 billion pounds (one US dollar is equivalent to about 590 Sudanese pounds), according to the official Sudan News Agency (SUNA). .

The mining sector represents 40% of Sudan's exports.

The traditional sector produces 90% of the gold production in Sudan, the proceeds of which go to the benefit of the indigenous miners, and the traditional mining sites are spread in more than 800 sites, in most of the northern and western states of Sudan.

US manufacturing activity contracted more than expected

Manufacturing activity in the United States contracted more in March than analysts had expected, marking the fifth consecutive month of contraction, as producers moved to keep up with slowing demand, according to new data released Monday.

This contraction, recorded by the Institute for Supply Management, will provide some relief to the Federal Reserve, which has raised interest rates nine times in the past 13 months in an attempt to reduce demand and curb rising inflation.

The March data "reflects companies continuing to slow production to better match demand in the first half of 2023 and to prepare for growth in the late summer/early fall," said Timothy Fiore , lead author of the survey for the Institute for Supply Management.

He added in a statement that the activity of the manufacturing sector fell to 43.6 percent last month, down by 1.4 percentage points from 47.7 percent in February.

That number is more than one percentage point below the numbers expected by analysts polled by Briefing.com.

A ratio of less than 50% indicates that manufacturing sector activity is contracting in general.

In his speech at the beginning of the session held in the city of Ramallah, Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh condemned the settlers' continued incursions into the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and calls for the slaughter of sacrifices in its courtyards, and the execution of the young doctor Muhammad Al-Osaibi from the town of Hura in the Negev in the 48 lands, and the accompanying arrests and deportations. He pointed out that due to the high Israeli deductions, which amounted to about 250 million shekels per month, in addition to the decline in international aid allocated to the budget, and the demands of trade unions and public state employees, the government was forced to borrow from banks so that the March salary would be paid within days, just as the April salary would be paid before Eid Al-Fitr leave, so that employees can meet their financial obligations during the Eid holiday.

We can do that before the end of this year."

And he continued: "But if the financial crisis continues and we are unable to do so, we want you to understand and bear the burden with us, and bear with us the country without prejudice to what is yours. I say this to the teachers and everyone."

Shtayyeh thanked President Mahmoud Abbas for his wisdom and directives, members of the Central Committee, the Revolutionary Council, secretaries of the regions, Fatah movement cadres, leaders of the national factions and security agencies, parents of students, the Ministries of Education and Finance, and community figures for their positive efforts. For the progress and regularity of the educational process, and for a bright future for our dear students.

He continued: "We are a people under occupation and we are facing the occupier in difficult conditions, politically, security, economically and financially, and there is continuous aggression against our people and our land. In side conflicts that take us away from our main goal.

The Prime Minister said: "The Israeli financial rivalries, and the retreat of some donors, aim to put pressure on us and subdue us, but everyone knows that we do not exchange politics for money, and what is important is that we bear each other, and understand our reality in which we live, and that what is between us is the language of dialogue, in order to reach a minimum of understanding.
