Sudan will produce 41.8 tons of gold in 2022

The Sudanese Ministry of Minerals announced today (Monday) that the country’s gold production for the year 2022 amounted to 41.8 tons.

Mubarak Ardol , Director General of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, said that the country's total production of gold for the year 2022 amounted to 41.8 tons, while revenues amounted to about 150 billion pounds (one US dollar is equivalent to about 590 Sudanese pounds), according to the official Sudan News Agency (SUNA). .

He pointed out that the country's exports of other minerals for the same year amounted to about two billion dollars, representing 47% of the country's total exports.

Ardol pointed out that the exploration companies operating in Sudan amounted to 107 companies, while the development companies amounted to 44 companies, indicating that the number of exploited squares represents only 9% of the country's area.

Sudan is seeking to make gold a primary source of foreign exchange after losing three-quarters of its oil revenues due to the secession of South Sudan in July 2011.

The mining sector represents 40% of Sudan's exports.

The traditional sector produces 90% of the gold production in Sudan, the proceeds of which go to the benefit of the indigenous miners, and the traditional mining sites are spread in more than 800 sites, in most of the northern and western states of Sudan.

Sudanese statistics indicate that about one million people work in the private mining sector in Sudan.
