Poll: Israeli majority holds Netanyahu responsible for the security failure and demands his resign

In response to a question about what Netanyahu should do now, 47% said that he should resign after the end of the war, while 29% believed that he should resign immediately, compared to 18% of those who supported him remaining prime minister.


A public opinion poll broadcast by Israeli Channel 13 on Friday evening showed that the majority of Israelis polled hold Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responsible for the security failure following the Hamas attack on October 7.


According to the poll, 44% of respondents held Netanyahu responsible for the security failure, compared to 33% who held the Israeli Army Chief of Staff, Herzi Halevy, and senior army officials, and 5% who held the Defense Minister, Yoav Galant, responsible.


56% of the survey participants expressed their lack of confidence in Netanyahu in managing the war, compared to 28% of those who expressed their confidence in him.


In response to a question about what Netanyahu should do now, 47% said that he should resign after the end of the war, while 29% believed that he should resign immediately, compared to 18% of those who supported him remaining prime minister.


In addition, 64% of respondents expressed their support for holding elections in Israel after the end of the war, compared to 26% who supported the continuation of the current government.


Regarding the impact of the war on the Israeli economy and the extent of their impression of the government’s handling of it, 68% said that its handling of it was not good, compared to 19% who thought that the government’s handling of it was good.


Regarding their position on forming an investigation committee after the war, 74% expressed their support for establishing a general investigation committee with broad powers after the war, compared to 12% who supported the establishment of a government investigation committee, while 4% considered that there is no need to establish an investigation committee.
