An exhibition of used celebrity sports shoes
Melbourne - (AFP) - A sneaker that American basketball star Michael Jordan used to wear and calls it "Mona Lisa sneakers" is one of the most prominent contents of an exhibition that opened Friday in Melbourne, and it also includes about 100 other pairs of rare sneakers.
The three-day exhibition is organized by the giant online auction house, eBay.
"Some of the rarest and most iconic sports shoes in the world," said eBay sports expert Alistair Law, during the opening of the exhibition in Brunswick, on the outskirts of Melbourne, Australia.
Among the exhibits are the "Air Jordan" shoes that the star wore in 1985, and the expert described it as "Mona Lisa sports shoes", in addition to a similar pair that was sold in 2020 for $ 560,000.
The exhibition also includes Kanye West's "College Dropout Babistas" collection. A pair of the rapper's shoes sold for $1.8 million at auction last year.
