The Egyptian President directs the establishment of large markets to control prices

Cairo - (dpa) - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi directed a study of establishing large markets within Cairo and Giza, with the aim of controlling prices until the end of the year.

Al-Sisi said, during the inauguration activities of Egypt's Future Agricultural Project today, that the state is responsible for controlling product prices until the end of the year, stressing the importance of integrating the work of state institutions, civil society and chambers of commerce until the global economic crisis ends.

He added that he directed a study of vacant, unexploited lands in the governorates to establish markets, stressing the state's readiness to move in a rapid program through which wholesalers would enter instead of buying goods from the transit markets, Nasr City, Heliopolis or Al-Marg.

Al-Sisi called on the Egyptian Minister of Defense to present this plan to him soon, indicating that 10 or 15 markets can be established in Cairo and Giza in vacant, unexploited areas to control prices.

The Egyptian president announced that the state is now making dryers to place corn in silos and store it in order to benefit from corn throughout the year and create added value for it.
Al-Sisi said, "The expansion of greenhouse projects aims to provide job opportunities and provide agricultural crops for local consumption."
He added, "I am in a challenge to meet the country's demands, and I will know how to do this," stressing that "meeting the demands of the people and the country is a pledge that I adhere to and seek to implement."
Al-Sisi emphasized that experience has proven that the private sector is capable of achieving its tasks with high efficiency, pointing to the state's need to provide 900,000 annual job opportunities.
In turn, the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Al-Sayed Al-Qaseer, said that the current agricultural production volume indicates the possibility of achieving self-sufficiency, adding that Egypt will provide food for its people and achieve self-sufficiency.
He continued, "We set strategic goals until 2030, the most prominent of which was preserving the available economic resources," referring to the pursuit of horizontal expansion to increase the volume of agricultural production.
