Updated: 9 killed and 2,750 injured from Hezbollah in communications devices explosion
The Lebanese Minister of Health announced the killing of 9 people, including a child, and the injury of about 2,750, most of them Hezbollah members, in southern Lebanon and the southern suburb of Beirut, after the explosion of the wireless communication devices they were using.
The Minister of Health called on all hospitals to receive all the injured, while the Lebanese Civil Defense said that hospitals in the south have exceeded their capacity, and we are working to transfer the injured outside the governorate.
Hezbollah announced in a statement that "Israel is responsible" for the attack. The statement added, "We hold the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the aggression that also targeted civilians and led to the deaths of a number of martyrs."
The party said, "The treacherous and criminal occupation will certainly receive its just punishment for this sinful aggression, whether it expects it or not."
The statement stressed that "the competent agencies in Hezbollah are conducting a wide-ranging security and scientific investigation to determine the cause of the simultaneous explosions."
The party called for "attention to rumours and misleading information that serve the psychological warfare in the interests of the Israeli occupation."
For its part, the Lebanese government considered that "the Israeli aggression constitutes a serious violation of Lebanese sovereignty."
