The Hague: 3 new complaints against Israel at the ICJ
A delegation of lawyers announced the submission of 3 complaints to the International Criminal Court on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, against the Israeli occupation.
The delegation of lawyers is headed by Jill Duffer, Abdel Majeed Marari, Issa Goltaslar and Khaled Al-Shouli.
The spokesman for the legal team before the International Criminal Court, Dr. Abdel Majeed Marari said in a statement that the first complaint relates to the attack of June 8, 2024 on the Nuseirat camp, which caused the martyrdom of 270 Palestinians for the purpose of releasing 4 detainees. The defense team will file a complaint on behalf of fifteen direct victims of the attack.
The second complaint concerns Dr. Adnan Al-Bersh, the famous Palestinian orthopedic surgeon, who was arrested on November 14 last while carrying out his medical and humanitarian duties at Al-Awda Hospital. He died in prison as a result of torture and ill-treatment. He was not charged with any charges or tried within a legal framework. Salim, and the complaint will be submitted on behalf of his brother, who has authorized the legal team.
The third complaint was submitted by Dr. Muhammad Abu Salmiya, a pediatrician and director of Al-Shifa Hospital, who was arrested on November 15 last on a completely false and illegal basis, on the charge of having a military base protected by the hospital.
Dr. Abu Salamiya was immediately subjected to torture and ill-treatment in two Israeli prisons. He was neither charged nor tried, and he was released with 50 other people on July 1 of this year.
On the sidelines of these judicial proceedings at the headquarters of the International Criminal Court, the team of lawyers will hold a working meeting with the Victims Section of the Court, in order to organize collective and individual defense for the very large number of victims, the files of 756 Palestinians in Gaza have so far been registered, and the list is still long.
Also, the first detailed report on the impact of war on mental health was published by the Gaza Community Mental Health Program (GCMHP), and it identifies the devastating effects of war trauma on all residents of the Gaza Strip. The team will study with the Victims Department the ways in which the International Criminal Court can handle complex health cases. Joint work programs will be organized around them with the Victims Department
