Al-Taweel, who was released on the eleventh of last month, said, "There are currently 30 female prisoners in Damoun prison, and the living conditions of the female prisoners are difficult in the winter, with a lack of heating means, and electric heaters are not enough, as there is one for every four female prisoners, and the families are trying to Bringing clothes in, but the prison administration oppresses them and tries to prevent them, as there is a shortage of entering clothes, as well as blankets.”

According to al-Taweel, "female prisoners are allowed once every 3 months to bring in clothes and some light blankets, which constitutes a shortage in the needs of female prisoners, especially the new ones, and this deficiency affects their psyche more."

With regard to food and drink, Al-Taweel confirms in an interview with Al-Quds.com that the food provided and the ingredients of hot drinks are bad, including bread, as well as drinking water. The prisoners are forced to buy mineral water at their own expense from the cantina, because the water in the network is worrisome and has a strange color. .

Al-Taweel indicated that the female prisoners refuse to eat the food provided by the prison administration, which forces them to collect food ingredients such as vegetables and others, and they cook the food with their own hands, or buy some ingredients at their own expense.

On the other hand, Al-Taweel confirmed that when she was released from the occupation prisons, she left behind 5 female prisoners suffering from mental illnesses and their conditions are worsening, and the female prisoners are all calling for action to treat them. "A complaint was submitted about this through lawyers and human rights institutions, but to no avail."

Al-Taweel indicated that the occupation tried during the past periods, especially after the "Freedom Tunnel" operation, to impose measures on the prisoners, and found in the female prisoners a point of provocation against the captive movement, and began to impose measures on them, which prompted the captive movement to escalate afterwards, while Al-Taweel warns that the occupation authorities should legislate By imposing procedures and penalties on female prisoners, as a prelude to escalation against the captive movement.

Police fire tear gas to disperse thousands of demonstrators against military rule in Khartoum

Khartoum , (AFP) - Sudanese police fired tear gas canisters to disperse thousands of demonstrators who took to the streets of Khartoum again Thursday, demanding the return of civilian rule and an end to the military coup carried out by army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan last year.

According to eyewitnesses, the demonstrators carried Sudanese flags and chanted "No to military rule" and "Civilian people's choice."

Sudan, one of the poorest countries in the Arab world and mired in its political and economic crises since the fall of former President Omar al-Bashir in 2019, has been suffering from continuous unrest since the military coup that took place on October 25th.

This prompted the Sudanese to demonstrate regularly since then, to demand an end to military rule, and the demonstrations often included violent confrontations with the security forces, which resulted in the killing of 116 demonstrators, according to the Central Committee of Doctors of Sudan against the coup.

The worsening economic crisis and security chaos led to an escalation of ethnic clashes in areas far from the capital.

Al-Burhan has always insisted on describing what happened as "correcting" the course of the transitional period and that it was not a military coup.

On July 4, al-Burhan announced that the military institution would "not participate" in the national dialogue called for by the United Nations and the African Union to "pave the way for political and revolutionary forces ... and to form a government of independent national competencies."

However, Al-Burhan's announcement was rejected by the demonstrators and opposition forces. The Forces for Freedom and Change described the announcement as an "exposed maneuver".

Recently, Al-Burhan announced his support for an initiative known as "The Call of the People of Sudan", which is sponsored by the famous Sufi religious leader, Al-Tayeb Al-Jedd Badr, aimed at ending the political crisis in the country. Its conference was launched on Saturday in the presence of dozens of political parties.

Absent from the conference was the main opposition coalition in the country, the Forces for Freedom and Change, whose members were ousted from the transitional body in the Burhan coup.

Also absent are members of the Resistance Committees, informal groups that emerged during the 2019 protests against former President Omar al-Bashir and have regularly opposed the military coup during recent demonstrations.

In an interview earlier this month with BBC Arabic, the deputy head of the Sudanese Sovereign Council, Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, criticized the military coup and said, "Unfortunately, we also did not succeed in change."

Ukrainian minister expects first shipments of grain to be exported "this week"

Kiev ( Ukraine ) - (AFP) - Ukraine announced Monday that it expects to export the first shipments of grain "this week" in accordance with the agreement signed with Moscow, despite the Russian bombing that targeted Saturday the port of Odessa, which is considered pivotal in sending shipments.

"We expect work on the agreement to begin in the next few days, and we expect a coordination center to be established in Istanbul in the next few days. We are preparing everything to start this week," Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov told a press conference.

He pointed out that the main obstacle to the export of grain is the dangers of Russian bombing, especially after the strike that targeted the port of Odessa on the Black Sea on Saturday, which is considered pivotal for the shipment of grain.

Kubrakov called on Turkey and the United Nations, the guarantors of the agreement, to secure the Ukrainian shipments, warning that "if the parties do not guarantee security, it will not work."

What also impedes the export of grain is the presence of naval mines laid by Ukrainian forces to prevent Russia from carrying out a landing operation on its coast. The minister said that the mines would only be cleared "in the corridor necessary for export operations."

He added that Ukrainian ships would accompany the shipments, which could also transport fertilizers as well as grain.

For his part, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Yuri Vaskov stated that the port of Chornomorsk (southwest) will be the first port from which shipments will be launched, followed by the port of Odessa (south), then the port of Pevdenye (southwest).

"During the next two weeks, we will be technically ready to export shipments of grain from all Ukrainian ports," he said.

Ukraine's grain exports are essential to global food security, and 25 million tons of them have been stuck in the country since the start of the Russian invasion on February 24.

Al-Nakhala: The resistance broke Israel's prestige

The PLO between fragmentation and dismantling..Is there another way?!

Written by: Jamal Zaqout
"Bye bye PLO" This was announced by Brzezinski, the former US National Security Adviser during the Carter administration in 1979, and Menachem Begin repeated it after the PLO's steadfastness in Beirut during the Israeli war on the Palestinian political and armed presence in Lebanon in 1982, which, although it led to Until the PLO and the bases of the Palestinian revolution left Lebanon, it was still able to reject the American conditions to join the so-called American settlement train at the time. We remember how the Palestinian leader Abu Ammar answered at the time when a journalist asked him, "Where are you going, Abu Ammar?" Arafat replied, "To Palestine."

This answer and that force had its costs, which must be paid through attempts to contain the PLO, which it was impossible to succeed in without working to tear it apart and weaken it, in preparation for its subjugation. Despite the correctness of the demands raised by the Democratic Reform Movement in the Fatah movement at the time, it quickly slid into a bloody schism in which a number of Arab regimes became involved, and it culminated in attempts to harm the organization’s legitimacy and status, until the arduous dialogue between the Democratic Alliance and the Fatah movement resulted in the completion of the Aden Agreement. -Algeria and the convening of the National Council in Algiers "April 1987", a step that paved the way for mobilizing the energies of the Palestinian people and the outbreak of the great Palestinian uprising "December 1987".

The occasion of this urgent narration is the unprecedented state of weakness and disintegration of the Palestine Liberation Organization, the keenness of its influential members to maintain the state of impotence, and the limitation of its role to sealing the representation that no longer has a serious impact on the political reality for various reasons, the most important of which is the failure of betting on the organization with all its credit. In the course of the Oslo settlement, without achieving anything but the expansion of the fragmentation of the organization’s reality and the marginalization of its position behind the authority, which also began to erode, especially after the Hamas coup in 2007.

The failure of the Oslo process as a transitional phase to end the occupation and enable the Palestinian people to determine their own destiny, without the forces of the Liberation Organization striving to revise this path, formed and continues to constitute the infrastructure for the state of division that deepens and opens the gates of hell for further dismantling the organization, which has turned into a mere tool in The hand of the Palestinian presidency to proceed with the process of engineering the Palestinian situation away from the popular will, and instead of national consensus with rising political and social forces in political life on a vision outside the Oslo track, the PLO restores its broad, pluralistic coalition character as a national front to lead the stage of national liberation.

This fragile and eroding reality revitalizes and revives attempts to create alternatives and control the organization, a strategy that has never disappeared from the agenda of Hamas, or proceeded with its dismantling and erasure, as Israel has sought throughout the past era.

The fundamental question facing Palestinian patriots, in light of the overthrow of Fatah pluralism, the disappearance of what is known as democratic forces, and the alignment of most of its components on both sides of the division, is how to build an independent democratic national movement that contributes to saving the national cause, because any attempt does not distance itself from the state of division and restore Focusing its mission on building a historical popular bloc, which risks slipping towards further fragmentation of the “disintegrated and eroded state of the organization,” rather than repairing it, restoring its unity, or even rebuilding it.

And so that the good intentions of reviving the PLO do not turn, the road to hell has always been a bed of roses, even if it was adorned with slogans of democratizing the organization, merely as a new tool for division and warfare against "eroded legitimacy"; The true guarantor of this historical process calls for building a broad national democratic current that is open to all patriots who believe in political and intellectual pluralism in the face of policies of hegemony, monopoly of power, and exclusivity in the national political and struggle decision, and they seek to end division and restore unity in the face of occupation.

Building the popular bloc that pressures to stop the policy of dismantling the organization cannot be successful by siding with either side of the divisive scene, but rather by unifying the efforts of the components of that popular bloc away from the factional diseases that aborted attempts to build a democratic assembly, and undermined the efforts of independent democratic patriots to build an independent democratic national movement. The invitation to the founding conference of the Independent Democratic Current was canceled at the last moment.

The survival of the state of the Liberation Organization and the authority as it is of the disintegration and erosion of its social incubator needs careful and calm treatment, not the security fist to prevent and suppress jurisprudence and initiatives, nor leaps in the vacuum of the divisive atmosphere, and perhaps the first step that constitutes the direction of the main blow to rebuild the Liberation Organization on democratic foundations, It begins with continuous pressure by the real affected by the division and its national, economic and social consequences, especially youth, women and other marginalized groups, to agree to form a government of national unity, and not colluding to write off this pivotal step, as happened in the recent Algerian dialogue, and so that the highest priority of this government is concentrated in Providing all means of popular and national steadfastness in the face of the plans of the fascist right-wing government, and establishing an environment and internal political and security climates that pave the way for holding general presidential and legislative elections, and open the way towards the election of “and consensus where it cannot be held” a new National Council, to rebuild the organization and comprehensive national unity within its framework, Including all gatherings of the Palestinian people in all places of their presence on the basis of absolute adherence to the right to self-determination and the rules of international law and United Nations resolutions related to the Palestinian cause, and focus the general national effort on rebuilding the identity and the unifying national institution in the face of the Israeli strategy of liquidation, expulsion and displacement.

Sherine Abu Aqleh's family is in Washington to press for an independent American investigation and hold the occupation accountable

Washington - (AFP) - The family of journalist Sherine Abu Aqleh , who was killed while covering the occupation forces' storming of the Jenin camp in May, urged the United States today, Tuesday, to conduct an independent investigation and hold Israel accountable, on a visit to Washington at the invitation of Secretary of State Anthony. blinkin.

The family, who will also meet deputies, said it calls on the United States to conduct a "comprehensive, credible, independent and transparent" investigation into Abu Aqleh's killing.

"For far too long, the United States has enabled Israel to kill with impunity by providing arms, immunity, and diplomatic cover," her brother Tony Abu-Aqleh wrote in a statement.

"Impunity leads to repetition. We are here to do our part and ensure this cycle ends," he added.

"If we allow Shireen's murder to be ignored, we are sending the message that the lives of American citizens abroad do not matter, that the lives of Palestinians living under Israeli occupation do not matter, and that the most courageous journalists in the world, those who cover the human impact of armed conflict and violence, They can be dispensed with."

The Palestinian-American journalist Abu Aqleh, who had been working for the Qatari channel Al-Jazeera for 25 years, was killed on May 11 after being shot in the head while she was covering the occupation's raid on the outskirts of Jenin camp, in the northern West Bank.

On July 4, the United States issued a statement saying that Abu Aqeela was likely hit by Israeli fire, but that there was no evidence that her killing was intentional, and that the bullet was too badly damaged to reach a "final conclusion."

The Palestinians and the journalist's family condemned the statement at the time, describing it as "attempts to obscure the truth" in the case of the murder of journalist Sherine Abu Aqleh.

Israel says it is still investigating her killing and rejects allegations that it targeted a female journalist.

The Abu Aqel family tried in vain to meet US President Joe Biden when he visited Israel and the West Bank earlier this month. However, Blinken invited the family to visit Washington, as National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan announced at the time.

Blinken earlier spoke to her family by phone and publicly criticized Israel for using force at her funeral when police prevented mourners from raising Palestinian flags and chanting patriotic slogans. Abu Aqelah's coffin almost fell to the ground from the hands of the mourners after they were beaten with batons by the Israeli police, who arrested some of them.

Seven dead in tribal clashes in Darfur

Khartoum - (AFP) Tribal clashes in Darfur have claimed the lives of at least seven people in this vast and turbulent region in western Sudan , according to the official Sudan News Agency.

Clashes took place between Arab tribes of pastoralists and other African tribes in a village near Nyala, the capital of South Darfur state, according to eyewitnesses.

The reasons for these confrontations could not be determined immediately.

"A group of shepherds riding camels and motorbikes began attacking the village of Amori, and the village was burned, four citizens were killed and three others were wounded," as well as two other people who were killed on Wednesday and Thursday, the Sudan News Agency reported, quoting the South Darfur State Security Committee.

After that, another person was also killed in these confrontations, which spread to neighboring villages, whose shops were looted and partially burned, according to the same source.

A medical source confirmed to AFP that 20 wounded patients had been transferred to Nyala Hospital.

Tribal clashes are recurring in the Darfur region, which has been witnessing a state of instability since 2003 as a result of the conflict that began after armed groups belonging to African minorities took up arms against the Arab-backed Khartoum government, claiming that the region was marginalized politically and economically.

According to the United Nations, the conflict has left 300,000 dead and 2.5 million people displaced.

And the frequency of tribal conflicts increased after the coup of Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the army commander, against the civilian government that took power after the overthrow of Omar al-Bashir in 2019.

Libya: Members of the State Council acknowledge the end of the mandate of the Dbeiba government

Tripoli - (dpa) - Members of the Supreme Council of State in Libya considered the Dbeiba government to have "necessarily expired," referring to the time period of the road map it produced, which ends today, Tuesday.
Members supporting the Bashagha government issued a statement on Monday night, in which they welcomed the achievement of more consensual points between members of the House of Representatives and the state in the Constitutional Path Committee, and urged the two houses to complete what remains.

He also called on the members, whose names or number the Dabaiba did not specify, to assume his moral and legal responsibilities by expediting the smooth handover of government headquarters to Bashagha's government, following the example of his predecessor.

They stressed the need for those holding senior positions in political institutions to assume their legal responsibilities, warning of any divisions within the institutions that might result from their wrong positions.

The statement called on the members of the UN mission to respect the consensus that took place between the two councils and to acknowledge the mandate of the Bashagha government over the entire soil of the country, as it is the legitimate government emanating from the elected official bodies. According to the description.

The statement comes after the Constitutional Track Committee failed to reach a complete consensus on the constitutional framework necessary for holding elections.

The UN Adviser on Libya, Stephanie Williams, announced on Monday morning the end of the third and final round of negotiations of the Joint Constitutional Committee of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State related to the constitutional track, without progress being made on agreeing on a constitutional framework for the elections.
According to a series of tweets on Williams' account on the social networking site "Twitter", "disagreements remained regarding the measures organizing the transitional period leading to the elections."

In what appears to be a sign that the joint committee has not reached a complete consensus on the constitutional basis for the elections, Williams called on the presidencies of the two chambers to meet within ten days at a place to be agreed upon to overcome the sticking points.

The statement also comes on the night of the end of the term of the Geneva Agreement, which unified the executive authority in Libya, represented by the Presidential Council and the National Unity Government.

On more than one occasion, Bashagha called on the head of the national unity government, Abdel Hamid al-Dabaiba, to hand over power, while al-Dabaiba insisted on not handing over until after the elections.

Dabaiba also affirmed on more than one occasion his adherence to power even after the date of June 21, which coincides with the end of the Geneva Agreement, which increases the ambiguity surrounding the fate of the current political bodies, and warns of the possibility of the country returning to the square of political division.

A Chinese-Canadian businessman has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for fraud

Shanghai - (AFP) - A Shanghai court announced Friday that it had sentenced a Chinese-Canadian tycoon, Xiao Jianhua, who went missing in 2017 in a Hong Kong hotel, to 13 years in prison for financial crimes.

Xiao He was one of China's richest men, with an estimated fortune of $6 billion.

The No. 1 court in Shanghai, where Xiao Din was being tried, said in particular on charges of "embezzlement of public funds" and "illegal use of funds".

His disappearance in 2017 shocked Hong Kong.

It is known that he was close to senior Chinese communist leaders, and according to press information, he was kidnapped by agents of Beijing.

Since then, little information has been leaked about the case and the Chinese authorities have remained silent about it.

It appears that the investigation targeting Xiao Jianhua falls within the framework of the broad anti-corruption campaign launched by Chinese President Xi Jinping when he came to power in 2012.

The alleged kidnapping of Xiao took place in Hong Kong at a time when mainland Chinese agents were not allowed to move in the semi-autonomous city.

At the time, some feared that residents of the city would be forcibly transferred to neighboring mainland China, where the judiciary is largely under the jurisdiction of the ruling Communist Party.

These fears were the motives of the pro-democracy demonstrations that rocked Hong Kong in 2019.

New provisions against the British raped more than a hundred bodies

London (AFP) - A British man in his 60s who was sentenced to life in prison for sexually assaulting more than 100 women's bodies in hospital morgues was handed new convictions Wednesday, in the final phase of an "unprecedented" case in British justice.

David Fuller, who confessed his actions, did not seem affected during a London court sentencing him to four years in prison on charges of having sex with women's corpses and possessing pornography of 23 victims between 2007 and 2020.

In December 2021, this 68-year-old electrician received a life sentence for similar acts on dozens of dead women and for killing two young women in 1987.

In total, David Fuller sexually assaulted the bodies of "no less than 101 women and girls, although the identities of ten of these have not been identified and may never be," according to what the public prosecutor confirmed during the hearing. While the youngest victim was nine years old, the oldest was a hundred years old.

"You will be in prison until the last day of your life," the judge said while pronouncing the additional sentence issued against Fuller.

Turning to the facts, the Attorney General noted that this was a case "unprecedented in the history of British justice".

Fuller worked as an electrician for two hospitals in the south of England on night shifts, so he was often left alone after the staff left, so he had easy access to the morgues and refrigerators where the bodies were placed.

Fuller's actions were not revealed for more than ten years, but in December 2020, thanks to DNA techniques, the police were able to stop him as the suspect in the 1987 murder of two young women in Tunbridge Wells (southeast England). Fuller sexually assaulted and strangled the two women.

During a search of his home, the investigators found a very large amount of pornographic images, in addition to video clips he filmed during the assaults he was committing in the morgues.

Before the verdict was issued on Wednesday, family members of the victims had interventions before the court, including the daughter of one of the victims, who indicated that she felt "great disgust", describing Fuller as a "monster".

Another victim's brother said, "David Fuller has blotted out every memory I have of my sister, because all I can think about is what he did to her while she should have been resting."

Last month, the families of the victims were awarded financial compensation for the trauma they had experienced as a result of this case.

The judge addressed his conversation to David Fuller, telling him, "You did not care about the dignity of the dead. Your perverted actions towards those you killed and the women you assaulted after their death show that you are unscrupulous."

This case sparked panic in the United Kingdom, prompting members of the House of Lords to demand tougher punishment for anyone who sexually assaults dead bodies. Currently, those who commit similar acts are punished with two years' imprisonment.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson commented on Fuller's conviction of the two murders dating back to 1987, while then-Minister of Health Sajid Javid launched an independent investigation to find out how the sixty-year-old managed to sexually assault corpses in public hospitals for a long time without anyone realizing what was happening.

The results of the investigation are expected to be released next year.

A study reveals that soccer players are more likely to have brain problems after the age of 65

London - (AFP) - An English study published Friday revealed that soccer players are more likely to develop brain health problems after the age of 65 than other individuals.

The study, called Scores, by researchers at the University of East Anglia, relied on online tests to remotely assess cognitive functions and monitor deteriorating brain health.

About 145 professional soccer players participated, including former Crystal Palace striker Mark Bright and former Norwich duo Jeremy Goss and compatriot Ewan Roberts.

The study included 55 former footballers aged 65 or over, and their results were compared with 27 non-football players in the study group aged 65 and over, as well as with a control group of thousands of participants who were combined from other studies and underwent the same tests.

According to the results of the study, former soccer players between the ages of 40 and 50 perform better than the rest of the participants, but the trend reverses with age.

"When they were 65, things started to go downhill," said Dr. Michael Gray, who led the study.

"Football players over the age of 65 have the worst performance in the areas of reaction, executive functions (which include managing and controlling non-routine situations or performing several things at the same time) or positioning. These are clearly early warning signs of deteriorating brain health.

This new study is in line with findings from a survey conducted by the University of Glasgow that found footballers were three and a half times more likely than the general population to die from a neurodegenerative disease such as dementia or Parkinson's.

Americans out of work due to long-term COVID-19 and struggling to get government assistance

NEW YORK -- (Xinhua) -- Long-term COVID patients in the United States have been abandoned in a system that was time-consuming and difficult to handle even before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, US News & World Report reported. Monday.

“People face long waiting times, insufficient legal support, a lack of clear guidance on how to prove their disability, and the challenges of a medical system that does not have a standardized process for diagnosing long-term COVID,” the report quoted health experts and disability advocates as saying.

The report indicated that recent research from the Brookings Institution estimates that between 2 million and 4 million Americans are unemployed due to long-term Covid, adding that a study published by the National Bureau of Economic Research in September indicates a number closer to 500,000.

The Biden administration has promised to support people with long-term Covid, but advocates for patients say many are struggling to get government help.
