More than 100 British MPs participate in the annual Palestine ceremony
The Embassy of Palestine in the United Kingdom participated in the annual Palestine Party organized by the Labour Party Friends of Palestine and the Middle East in the British Parliament, with the attendance of more than 100 recently elected members of parliament.
The event was attended by Foreign Office Minister for the Middle East Hamish Falconer, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, and over 100 members of the House of Lords and Labour MPs.
In his speech, Hemesh stressed his government's commitment to the rule of law and the two-state solution and called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
In turn, the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the United Kingdom, Husam Zomlot, thanked the Friends of Palestine Group, praising its efforts in deepening the ties between the Labour Party and the State of Palestine.
Zamlot also singled out Minister Himesh for being the first ambassador the minister met after assuming his new position, which is an indication that the Palestinian issue is considered a priority for the new government.
Zamlot called for an end to the genocide currently taking place in the Gaza Strip, imposing sanctions on Israeli settlements, and banning British arms exports to Israel.
He stressed that the international system has now reached a crossroads, and what is happening in Palestine directly affects global peace and security, calling on the British government to immediately recognize the State of Palestine.
The ceremony witnessed wide participation from various foreign embassies, civil society institutions, solidarity campaigns with Palestine, and Palestinian and Arab communities in the United Kingdom.
The annual Palestine Party is organised by the Labour Friends of Palestine and the Middle East group, and seeks to educate British MPs about the Palestinian cause and intensify efforts to end the Israeli occupation and achieve justice in the occupied territories.
