Netanyahu: Leaks threaten Israel's security and strengthen Hamas' position
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that information was leaked from a session on detainees last August, indicating that leaders were demanding concessions, and that this leak caused Hamas's position to harden.
Netanyahu added that the leaks came from within the security cabinet, the negotiating team, and the most sensitive bodies in Israel, and provided information of great value to Israel's enemies, and represent an imminent threat to its security.
He stressed that strategic information related to Israel's military capabilities was leaked from a session in a fortified building on the fourth day of the war, and considered the leaking of the photos of the Sde Teiman prison a stark example of the damage done to Israel and its reputation around the world, as the leaks led to the destruction of the lives of many young people and the lives of their families.
He stressed that the aim behind the recent leaks was to harm his personal reputation and put pressure on him, and said that Eli Feldstein, who is accused of leaking information from his office, is a patriotic person and cannot harm Israel's security.
Feldstein, a spokesman for Netanyahu, has emerged as the main suspect in the case.
Five Israelis, including four soldiers, one of whom is an officer, are being investigated on charges of leaking documents attributed to the head of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Yahya Sinwar, to foreign media outlets.
Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper pointed out that 4 of the five detainees serve in a secret unit whose goal is to prevent leaks and protect security secrets, noting that among these detainees is a reserve officer with the rank of major who was arrested by the Shin Bet.
