The Hebrew “walla” claims: an Israeli-Emirati meeting to discuss the day after the war on Gaza..

The United States, Israel and the United Arab Emirates held a secret meeting in Abu Dhabi last Thursday to discuss plans for the day after the war in Gaza, two senior Israeli officials said.

Walla Hebrew website says the meeting in Abu Dhabi, which was not announced, shows that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is beginning to realize that he must take a more realistic approach when it comes to the plan to manage Gaza after the war.

Israeli officials said that UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed hosted the meeting in Abu Dhabi.

President Biden's senior advisor for Middle East affairs, Brett McGurk, participated in the meeting from the American side, and Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer, who is close to Netanyahu, from the Israeli side.

The head of the Defense Ministry's political and security department, Dror Shalom, and the head of the Strategic Department of the General Staff, who worked on Israel's proposals for plans for the day after the war in Gaza, also traveled with Dermer.

The day before the Israelis arrived in Abu Dhabi, the Emiratis published their proposals for the day after the war in an article by ABZ's special envoy, Lena Nosayeva, in the Financial Times.

Nesieva wrote that an interim international force should be deployed in Gaza. This task force will respond to the humanitarian crisis, establish law and order and lay the foundation for governance, she said.

Nesieva told the Financial Times on the day of the trilateral meeting in Abu Dhabi that the UAE would be ready to be part of this international force and send troops to Gaza.

The UAE wants to be part of a solution in Gaza that does not include Hamas, but it also largely rejects the current leadership of the Palestinian Authority, according to the Hebrew site.

The United Arab Emirates made it clear to the Biden administration that the new Palestinian Prime Minister, Muhammad Mustafa, is one of Abbas’s close associates, and therefore he will not be independent and will not carry out the necessary reforms.

Instead, the UAE paid other candidates, including former Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad.

Netanyahu said that he wants the UAE to be part of the plan for the day after the war in the Gaza Strip.

Netanyahu would like the UAE to send forces, pay for the reconstruction of Gaza, and change the education system in the Strip.

But Netanyahu is not ready at this moment to move towards ending the war. He also rejects any official role for the Palestinian Authority in Gaza, and is not ready to resume the political process on the basis of the two-state solution.

Months ago, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant presented a plan for the “next day” in Gaza that is very similar to the Emirati proposal, but Netanyahu rejected it completely.

Israeli officials said Netanyahu is now showing greater willingness, at least in closed talks, to support Gallant's plan and discuss it with the United States and the United Arab Emirates.

An Israeli source said, "Netanyahu attacked Gallant's plan and obstructed it for several months, but now he took it, translated it into English, and gave it to Dermer to present it to the United Arab Emirates and the Americans as if it were his invention."
