Hamas said on Wednesday that Israel is deliberately exacerbating the health situation in the Gaza Strip and preventing fuel and medical supplies from reaching hospitals, which threatens the complete collapse of the health sector in light of the ongoing genocide for more than 15 months.

It explained in a statement: "The occupation is still deliberately preventing fuel from reaching hospitals except in very limited quantities that are not enough for a few hours."

It added: "The occupation is trying to deceive the international community into allowing aid in, while it continues its open war on hospitals and medical centers, targeting them with bombing and destruction, and preventing the entry of fuel and medical supplies necessary to operate them."

It pointed out that "the occupation is deliberately exacerbating the health situation in the Strip, and keeping the hospitals in a state of permanent crisis, in order to complete its plan to destroy the health sector in Gaza, without regard to the lives of patients and the wounded."

Hamas called on the United Nations, the World Health Organization, and the International Committee of the Red Cross to "take immediate action to save the health sector from the risk of complete collapse," calling for providing emergency hospital needs and sending specialized medical delegations to treat the injured and wounded.

In the same context, the Ministry of Health in Gaza appealed to the United Nations and humanitarian organizations to intervene urgently to secure fuel on a regular basis for hospitals.

The ministry said in a statement that "on Wednesday, very limited quantities of fuel were brought in for hospital generators in Gaza, sufficient for today only."

Hospitals in Gaza are facing a shortage of fuel to operate generators due to power outages, in addition to a shortage of medicines and medical supplies due to the lack of sufficient aid.
