Israeli newspaper: It is time for Netanyahu to define a clear position on the army’s proposal

A report in the Israeli newspaper "Zaman" says that the time has come to get clear answers from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the prisoner exchange deal, as their redemption is an important Jewish value, and time is running out for them, and Israel itself is sinking into darkness under the rule of darkness and deception.

The author of the report, Dan Perry, explains that the political and security arena in Israel is witnessing an intense debate about the possible deal with the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas). The discussion centers on the occupation army’s proposal to stop the war in Gaza while Hamas remains in power, which Netanyahu strongly rejects.

He added that this comes at a time when reports indicate that US President Joe Biden had announced his support for Israel in this solution, while internal and external tensions and pressures continue, and the fate of the Israeli prisoners remains pending, amid continuous bombing of northern Israel by Hezbollah, which increases... It complicates the scene and deepens the divisions in Israeli society.

Central question

The writer explained that the central question in Israel today is: Is its government prepared to end the war in Gaza while leaving Hamas in power in exchange for the release of all prisoners and an end to Hezbollah’s attacks? The current lack of clarity gives Hamas a reasonable excuse, and puts it in a more credible position than Israel.

Perry indicated that Netanyahu is uncomfortable with the deal, whether because of far-right ministers, his son who lives in exile in Miami, or simply endless political deceit.

He said that after all this long time and procrastination in an aimless war, the position seemed to be that Hamas, no matter how broken, is not destroyed, and if Israel withdraws from Gaza, Hamas will remain temporarily responsible for the Gaza Strip. If Israel wants all the prisoners, this will be the price, and Hamas will consider this a victory.

Very expensive for Israel

The writer stated that despite Netanyahu's clear desire to continue bleeding in the Gaza Strip, he must take into account that the continuation of the war is very costly to Israel, and the danger of ignition in the north may develop into a regional and even global conflict.

According to Perry, Israel eventually faced an unofficial global boycott, and the conferences that the writer attended in London and Greece made it clear that the boycotts would soon become very official. If the situation continues as it is, another year or two of the Netanyahu government may be enough to make the boycott of Israel an order. officially.

Netanyahu's ingratitude

Perry pointed out that Netanyahu's unclear position on the deal was a slap in the face of Biden, who is already bleeding politically. Netanyahu clearly preferred Donald Trump because he assumed that Trump would not pressure anyone "on humanitarian issues or Palestinian rights, and would always be satisfied with some courtesy." Netanyahu, with his lies and maneuvers, has given his ally ammunition to make Biden look ridiculous. At this moment, the bet seemed very reasonable to Netanyahu, who does not care about the value of life.

The author concludes the report by saying that Biden calls himself a Zionist, and became the first American president to visit Israel during a time of war, and sent Israel decisive weapons and provided it with a comprehensive global diplomatic umbrella, which makes it difficult to imagine this level of ingratitude from Netanyahu.
