Sarah Netanyahu accused Israeli army leaders of wanting to carry out a military coup against her husband, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The accusations came during a meeting last week with a number of families of Israeli prisoners in Gaza, according to what the Hebrew newspaper “Haaretz” reported on Tuesday.

The newspaper quoted Netanyahu as saying: “Army leaders want to carry out a military coup against my husband.”

When a number of family members interrupted her that she could not say that she did not trust the Israeli army, she responded by saying that her mistrust was “not in the entire army, but in its senior leaders.”

The newspaper noted that Netanyahu insisted that “the army commanders want to carry out a military coup against her husband.”

Sarah is not the only one from the Netanyahu family to accuse the army commanders, as her son Yair preceded her in doing so.

On June 17, Yair Netanyahu accused the army and the General Security Agency (Shin Bet) of “treason” during the confrontation of Hamas attacks near the Gaza Strip on October 7.

On that day, Hamas attacked 11 military bases and 22 settlements, killing and capturing Israelis; In response to "the occupation's daily crimes against the Palestinian people and their sanctities, especially Al-Aqsa Mosque," according to the movement.

Yair Netanyahu previously said in a post on the “X” platform: “What are they trying to hide? (Referring to the army commanders) If there is no betrayal, why are they afraid of external and independent parties investigating?”

He added: “Why do army and intelligence leaders continue to claim that Hamas has been deterred? Where was the Air Force on October 7?”

In recent months, a large number of Israeli military, security and political leaders have said that they bear responsibility for the failure that led to the attack of last October 7.

But Netanyahu refuses to take any responsibility for the attack.
