The Commissioner of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, described on Monday the transformation of the agency's main headquarters in the Gaza Strip into a battlefield and its leveling to the ground as "horrific."
This came in a post on Lazzarini's account on the "X" platform, accompanied by pictures showing the destruction caused to the agency's headquarters as a result of the Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip.
Lazzarini considered that "the transformation of the agency's main headquarters in the Gaza Strip into a battlefield and its leveling to the ground is a new episode of blatant disregard for international humanitarian law," describing it as "horrific."
The UN official stressed the need to protect UN facilities at all times.
"UN facilities must never be used for military or combat purposes," he added.
“Every war has rules, and Gaza is no exception,” the UNRWA Commissioner-General concluded.
