Abdullah II: We completely reject any attempt to separate the West Bank and Gaza Strip
King Abdullah said, "It is the duty of the Arab countries to put pressure on the international community and the active international forces to stop the war on Gaza, and we affirm our complete rejection of any attempt to separate the West Bank and the Gaza Strip."
The Jordanian King, Abdullah II, condemned “the massacres committed against civilians in Gaza and the Israeli escalation in the West Bank,” in light of the visit of US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, to Amman to meet with Arab foreign ministers and a representative of the Palestinian Authority, against the backdrop of the war on the Gaza Strip.
King Abdullah said, "It is the duty of the Arab countries to put pressure on the international community and the active international forces to stop the war on Gaza, and we affirm our complete rejection of any attempt to separate the West Bank and the Gaza Strip."
While receiving a number of Arab foreign ministers, the Jordanian king called for speaking with one voice with the international community regarding Gaza.
The US Secretary of State will meet with the Jordanian King, King Abdullah II, today, Saturday, the day after a quick visit to Israel, from which he came out generally empty-handed due to Israel's rejection of the American proposal for a "temporary humanitarian truce" in the war with Hamas.
Blinken, who arrived in Amman on Friday evening, is also scheduled to participate in a ministerial meeting with several Arab countries and to hold a bilateral meeting with the Jordanian Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi.
The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed, in a statement on Friday evening, that this meeting was held with foreign ministers. Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, and Qatar, in addition to Jordan and the United States.
The ministers will initially prepare “a coordination meeting in the context of their efforts aimed at stopping the Israeli war on Gaza and the humanitarian catastrophe it is causing,” and then they will hold a “joint meeting” with Blinken to discuss ways to stop the war in Gaza, according to the ministry’s statement.
The statement said that the Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization will participate in the meeting, which will discuss "the repercussions and ways to end this dangerous deterioration that threatens the security of the entire region."
