Fiorentina club put forward in the final of the Italian Football Cup , by defeating its host Cremonese 2-0, in the first leg of the semi-finals.
Fiorentina's victory came with a header from Brazilian Arthur Cabral (20) and a penalty kick that was successfully executed by Argentine Nicholas Gonzalez (75).
Cremonese was the dark horse of the competition. Although he sits at the bottom of the Italian league standings, he eliminated Napoli and Roma from the cup competitions to reach the semi-finals, but now it seems that his career is nearing its end.
Things got complicated for the hosts in the last ten minutes of the match, which they completed with ten players, after the Austrian Emmanuel Ayew was sent off due to a handball that resulted in the penalty kick, from which Fiorentina scored the second goal.
This victory is the ninth in a row in all competitions for Fiorentina, who, if they qualify for the final, may face Inter or Juventus (1-1 in the first leg), in their quest to achieve their first major title since 2001.
