In response, Iran announced punitive measures against individuals and entities in the European Union and Britain, while denouncing the "imposition and tightening of brutal sanctions" on the Islamic Republic.
The list, published by the Iranian Foreign Ministry, includes 12 European individuals and entities, in addition to nine British citizens and companies, and includes financial measures and a ban on entering the country.

And included on the list were the director of the German arms company "Krauss Maffei Wegmann" Frank Haun, the two European deputies Ilana Secorel and Antonio Lopez, the French lawyer Dominique Attias, the British naval officer Admiral Ben Key, and the former Dutch foreign minister Uri Rosenthal.

For its part, London added more than 70 Iranian officials and entities to its sanctions list, who are now subject to asset freezes and entry bans, according to a statement by the British Foreign Office.

Among the most prominent of those sanctioned were four generals from the Revolutionary Guards, in addition to the inclusion of the organization "in its entirety" on the list, according to the ministry.

The step came in coordination with the United States and the European Union, and raises the number of those on the British list to 300 personalities and entities.

For its part, the European Union added to its list, which was published in the Official Gazette, eight personalities - including an officer in the Revolutionary Guards - in addition to the telephone operator Ariantel, who is accused of collaborating in the repression carried out by the authorities.

This is the seventh package of sanctions imposed by the European Union on Iran since the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini on September 16, after being stopped by the "morality police" for violating strict dress codes.

On the American side, eight police and Revolutionary Guard officials were included in the sanctions list, in addition to the secretariat of the Supreme Council for Cyberspace, which monitors and restricts access to the Internet.

Washington also banned the granting of visas to 11 Iranian government officials "suspected of being responsible or complicit in abuses, arbitrary detention, or killing of demonstrators."

"The UK and its international partners confirm today that we will not turn a blind eye to the regime's brutal repression," British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said in a statement.

He added, "We will continue to take a full series of measures to hold the regime accountable for its actions," denouncing the "brutal repression practiced on the Iranian people," accusing Tehran of "exporting the bloodbath to all parts of the world."

The British government has continued to tighten its sanctions against the Revolutionary Guards, but so far it has avoided calls to designate it a "terrorist organization" with the potential to cut off all contacts with Tehran and thwart the revival of the 2015 agreement on Iran's nuclear programme.

Europeans are also being cautious as members of the European Parliament adopted a resolution in January calling on the European Union to include the Revolutionary Guards on the list of "terrorist organisations".

The Revolutionary Guard was established in 1979 after the revolution's victory over the Shah's regime, and it manages land, sea and air forces with an estimated number of more than 120,000 personnel.

The Revolutionary Guard supervises the "Basij" (volunteer corps), which was active in suppressing the protests that erupted following the death of Mahsa Amini.

A bomb attack Monday targeting a Pakistani anti-terrorism police station killed three people and caused the building to collapse, police said.

The local police official, Attaullah Khan, told AFP that "two bombs exploded" at the police station, "killing at least three people" in the city of Kabal , located in the Swat Valley in northwestern Pakistan.
