Emirates Championship: Al-Wehda continues to pressure Al-Ahly youth leaders

Al-Wehda continued its pressure on the leaders Al-Ahly youth, and narrowed the difference with it to 3 points, after its valuable victory over its host Khorfakkan 2-0 on Monday, at the end of the twenty-fourth stage of the UAE Football League.

Argentine Facundo Daniel (9) and Sebastian Tagliabue (71 from a penalty kick) scored the two goals.

Al-Wehda raised its score to 48 points and remained third, with a difference of goals from Al-Ain, the runner-up, and 3 points from Shabab Al-Ahly, who needs to win the last two matches of the competition against Bani Yas and Ajman to be crowned champion for the eighth time in its history, as it is ahead of direct confrontations ahead of its pursuers.

"We entered the Khorfakkan match in order to reduce the gap with Shabab Al-Ahly, which we succeeded in, and now we must win the last two matches to remain in the very exciting title race this season," said Dutch coach Arnaud Buettenweg.

Dibba Al-Fujairah abandoned the bottom rank after continuing its uprising in order to remain in the first division, by defeating its host Al-Nasr with two goals scored by Brazilian Alvaro Oliveira (14) and Tafsua Deliwayo from Zimbabwe (45), against a goal for Togolese Benel Malaba (50).

Dibba Al-Fujairah did not lose in the last 6 matches (4 wins and two draws), to raise its score in the twelfth place to 18 points, which is the same as the balance of Al-Bataeh, which fell to the thirteenth by goal difference.

Al-Bataeh fell in front of its host, Al-Jazira, with three goals scored by Ali Mabkhout (38 and 76) and Iraqi Ali Hussein (85), against a goal by Hamad Muhammad (84).

Ajman defeated its guest Al Dhafra with two goals scored by Moroccan Walid Azaro (5) and Congolese Prestige Mbongo (46) against a goal by Ghanaian Leonard Ofore (71). Ajman rose to fourth place with 44 points, and Al Dhafra remained, who was the first to go down with 8 points.
