Rome failed to consolidate its important fourth position in the race for the qualifying spots for the Champions League next season, by falling to its host Atalanta 3-1 on Monday at the end of the thirty-first stage of the Italian Football League.

The northern team advanced through the Croatian Mario Pasalic (39) and Rafael Toloi (79) and Lorenzo Pellegrini narrowed the difference for the guests (83), before the Dutchman Ton Copminers, after only a minute, restored the two-goal advantage for the owners of the land (84).

Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho played his 100th match with Roma since his arrival in the summer of 2021.

And with Napoli flying in the lead and the possibility of being crowned the title next week, the other three places that qualify for the main continental competition are witnessing a fierce battle. 9 points separate Lazio II (61 points) and Atalanta VII, after the Bergamo city team raised its tally to 52 points.

Roma entered the match after qualifying Thursday for the semi-finals of the European League “Europa League” after its victory in the extension over its Dutch guest, Feyenoord, 4-1 (lost 1-0 in the first leg).
